The fact that Violet's VA is the same as Mikasa makes this scene sadder. She really did an amazing job voicing Violet.
It will make more depressing in the Final moments of Eren
SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 OF AOT: you know that scene where Mikasa and Armin were screaming for Sasha to revive but Sasha died from bleeding out from a gunshot wound and Mikasa’s and Armin’s screams and cries were like muted i think? Mikasa probably sounded a lot like Violet in this scene

@@lilyraimey3499 I'm aware it's supposed to be "ai" as in aishiteru. But the ai in aishiteru is not typically pronounced "a-yee". Phonetically, it pronounced more closely to the word "I" in English.

Ok, let's see:
-Her right arm may have been shot by a hollow point military degree bullet, these things basically expand and shatter working as a mini-fragmentation projectile, effectively cutting Violet's skin, muscles and breaking appart her arm bone, ensuring a painful amputation
-Depending the way how frag munition explodes, the shrapnel can be expelled in such an angle and force it can rip apart a human limb, this is something similar to what happened to the marine Mark Geist, who got his arm half-severed by a mortar round
-In Geist's case he was lucky enough to be evacuated on time and receive extensive surgery sessions to eventually put the arm back in place, according to testimony he was still capable to shoot despite his injury, with him being a fully grown man and at his physical prime
-While Violet too was at her physical peak due training it has been hinted she is a literal demigoddess.
Finally remember by that point she was drunk in adrenaline, as some of you know, adrenaline is generated by humans in extreme situations, is the reason of the feasibility of a young woman lifting a car to save her children, or, despite getting mutilated and bleeding, dragging her beloved one through a crumbling fortress, it denies physical pain and removes neural inhibitors, allowing a human to access her true strenght despite massive physical damage and literally breaking herself apart in a last ditch effort.
Of course, it doesn't last, Violet eventually faded out, not even a superhuman can endure that much brutality and she most probably tettered on the brink of death during the following days after being found and treated.
By this point I am not sure if feeling proud or ashamed of our species, Violet and Gilbert did their best in hellish circumstances, yet I am completely sure the reasons for the war they fought were imbecilic in the most historical and real way possible, you know, dynastic affairs, stealing some industrial cities or mines, nationalist pride, some ideological dispute who is more word playing than real logical problem and could have been solved by its own weight, fucking bullshit some of our politicians still send to kill and die for while hiding away behind bodyguards in huge palaces and vomiting brainwashing speeches so you get more kids losing their limbs, lives and beloved ones.
Thank you
TLDR ;)
Hold on, hollow points were not used in ww1 though.
@@repolloasmuo yeah but this world is fictional, also a similar type of bullet existed in ww1

Duh?!!!!!
The fact that in the Light Novel it was more heartbreaking since it was telling from Gilbert’s perspective. The description in the moment was way more impactful... Still wonder Why they didn’t follow novel, probably because the aftermath would leave us more broken than we already with this part.

Translation note: Unlike in English, 'ai' does not show up in regular conversation.
(EDIT: Clarification, I'm not Japanese and I'm wrong. Ignore me.)
You don't 'ai' your favourite food or even your family members. 'Aishiteru' is specifically romantic. So Violet not understanding is perfectly reasonable, unlike in the English dub where it comes off as a bit trite, because surely she'd have some understanding of 'love' based on overheard conversations. Where in Japanese 'aishiteru' is a very rare thing to hear, most people just say 'suki.'
Japanese folks feel free to add things or correct me, but that's the impression I have.
That’s incorrect. Ai is NOT specifically romantic. It’s incredibly uncommon to hear people use the word outside of such context, but you can still find parents that will tell their children aishiteru. But generally it is used romantically.
True. Well basically Japanese don't usually use "ai". They use "suki" instead. Aishiteru is specifically a very intense feeling. That is why it is also romantic
I kinda had the impression that aishiteru is a love that is very deep.
Kinda like blood brothers, soul sisters, (good)moms/dads, close siblings, absolute best friends, true lovers of the "til death do us part"
thank you so much for this comment! I didn't know that before.
rather than romantic, it goes more to the intimate and very deep feeling of love one shares for another
The heartbreaking sorrow is immense in this scene.
She is *such* a fighter. Violet was able to withstand th pain off losing not one but *BOTH* of her arms on a high physical *and* mental level. Most people would be screaming or have passed put already. But she was still able to drag her Major all the way across enemy lines. She is a *warrior* words cannot begin to comprehend her power
Violet was raised as a tool and weapon of war. Add to that the adrenaline rush she likely had and you get a girl able to move without her arms.
I mean she's an anime character, anime logic.

I cant disagree but yes but i only focus on the ‘ i love you’ it always makes me cry
“from the bottom of my heart *I love you.”*
**literally waterfall coming down my eyes**
You know what's actually sad? Yes, the part where Gilbert says "i love you" is sad but, the saddest part was when Violet asking him "what is love". That part got me real good. Cuz, when she asked that to him, Gilbert face changed. He was sad. Why? Either he was sad she didn't understand him or he regret not explaining what is love to her. But overall for me is Violet can't express her love to Gilbert at his last moment due to her lack of understanding the meaning of love. That's only my opinion. One of the best animes I've watched in my entire life
It's because he feels guilty. He really does love her, but even more than that... he felt guilty of bringing her to war. He didn't have a real choice, but he always feels guilty because of it, after everything Violet doesn't know and understand, because she's just a child, an innocent, that didn't deserve everything that happened to her.
He just wanted her to live a normal life, to see the beautiful things in the world, not just the horrors of the war.

That’s one of the abilities of adrenaline rush.
If he does come back in season 2 it would make zero sense on how he would have survived all that blood loss and that building falling down on him after pushing violet out the way, he's a normal human being, not god
Anything is possible with dragonballs:)
why will there not be a season 2? she hasn't discovered what love means yet and the show got great reviews and left on a tiny cliffhanger (her opening the door and smiling)
but I feel if it was him behind the door she'd have way bigger reaction than a little smile lol

just watched it and the trailer and scene you're talking about are clips from the first season of the show lol, flashbacks to be exact
When I first saw this, I legit broke into a sob, it was so sad
The explosion damaged her other arm so bad, that it literally just fell off of her, the very bones, muscles, nerves, and veins all just slowly tore and snapped
Omfg I can’t deal with this scene! Why did they make it so sad!!! :(((((
Activating heartbreaking sounds
Imagine someone die after they just tell you they love you
Everheard of World War I and II there is so many untold stories there
The sheer amount of gross sobbing this anime has made me do, is enough to make a freaking river!😭💔
i get teary everytime i see violet taking off her gloves.
I was so gonna cry when Violet tried to take the major away with her teeth! She is too pure for this world, I know she doesn’t exist but she is too pure to even be in an anime! We don’t deserve her😭😭
i don’t cry to movies or shows but this.... genuinely made me sob, this whole show is a masterpiece
That moment Violet tried to pull Gilbert up with her teeth is just depressing. If Gilbert tried to move it might have worked since he could still wrap an arm around her and lean on her but he was hurt too so maybe that wouldn't work. Plus he had to push her out of the blast radius.
This scene it's just.. Perfect! I love it
Especially the way he says "kokoro kara" it's so moving
Ugh I love them so much. In the light novel, when Violet tells Gilbert that she can't understand what love is, Gilbert feels so much pain and guilt. He thinks he'll die without being able to tell his loved one his feelings. This scene is so
The fact that she's 14 and has a full military backstory amazes me.

That’s sad, hopefully you get something for Christmas this year.

It's amazing that naturally, Violet will scream in pain when she loses both her arms but she doesn't really give into it which is quite admirable of her to endure this horrific event along with Gilbert!
Aishiteru is a word with so much deep emotions from it. Japanese people don't usually say that word to express love for someone casually like how other cultures say it. I just feel how Gilbert loves her that it hurts... 😭😭

This scene is so brutal and sad at the same time. Idk if it's bad or good for me, i'll generally say good because it means they deliver the story well. But in this case idk... i rarely this attached to a character as much as i did with Violet, it's very heartbreaking to see this
Goosebumps all over my body 😭❤
I cry every time I see this scene. Every freaking time.
This scene is so moving its one of the most beautiful love stories .. 😍🥺
Something that bothers me now that I have seen the scene for the first time is that I am pretty sure it'd be impossible for Violet to lose her arms in the way that she did. The rifle round would not be powerful enough to make her arm fly off like that unless it was already dangling, which it couldn't have been since she was still holding her rifle, and if the round was powerful enough to take her arm off like that it likely would've kept going into her torso and killed her on the spot. Also the grenade explosion couldn't have taken off her arm in that manner, and with Gilbert's body in the main path of the explosion the worst Violet would have gotten is some shrapnel in her arm (which was somehow quite clean) and Gilbert would've been, well, fucked by it. I may be wrong, I may be looking too much into this, but it was bothering me.
Drew Spurlock I was actually thinking the same thing thanks for sharing your thoughts on it
Thank you! At least someone understood!
A Well placed 7.92mm bolt action round could def Rip a Childs arm off But ok then pal lol
Yes, the 7.92mm, if it hit the bone, would definitly be enough to rip her arm off. But the grenade is questionable, especially when it didn't fall off until after she had sit down.
I am not entirely convinced it could rip her arm off that readily (or cut the cloth so 'nicely') without also doing some damage to her torso. (Also I am assuming you mean 7.92x57 Mauser and not 7.92x107; though I must admit to assuming they were using a 7.62mm round)
I visit this video whenever I wanna cry 💀
