Thoughts are not facts. You can believe your thoughts. But they are not necessarily true. It’s a good positive way to look on your thoughts,. - I think this is what’s meant by ‘thoughts are not you’
I’d suggest reading Eckhart Tolle’s book The power of now, it explains this concept in great depth & in a very easy to grasp way
