I’ve been on a wheelchair since I was 15 years old, I'm turning 21 this year. I hope that someday I will find someone like Charisma, that will love me and accept me the way I am. You guys are relationship goals, bless you both

@@twistedbliss58 We don't know why God allows certain things to happen. Only he knows. We cannot give you an answer because we are incapable of understanding God's mind. Our minds were made limited to a certain amount of knowledge and understanding of this world and universe.
But what we can tell you that God has given us life and that's the most precious thing he's given us. Doesn't matter if we are born with disabilities or born normal, he created us and loves us just the way we are. What matters to him is the heart.
Honestly I must confess, not every lady can do what Charisma is doing. This is a true definition of Love. Charisma is a strong lady and Cole is very positive. You guys inspire me😊😊
take it from THIS disabled person, I know its a true statement.. you have to have nerves of STEEL to stand by a disabled person, not only to help take care of them, taking care of them physically is the EASY part, but to stand by helplessless while they go through medical procedure after medical procedure scared to death acting a fool (yup I'm a chicken!!) and you just can't do anything about it but stand and hold them through it... That takes talent that very few able-bodied people have.

You would be surprised at what you could do when God shows you whom he would have you with. I took care of my 1st husband, who had Spina Bifida. He lost his at 33 years old. Was it hard, absolutely, would I have changed it, absolutely not. I am now the recipient of a very living and caring husband. I am an above knee amputee. I also suffer from severe pain throughout my body 24/7/365. There are many days that I get it of bed. We were married for almost 3 yrs & 7 months when I lost my leg. He was also with me for 5 surgeries prior to amputation. I have had a total of 11 surgeries since we got married in June 2017. I have had a total of 13 surgeries for that same leg. 😢😢😢 When some asks him, how he does it with a "disabled" wife, he will tell you, "I did not marry her leg, I married her for her unconditional love she has for me & everyone she comes in contact with."
She takes really good care of him! & he seems like he loves her immensely. The way he tried to do as much for himself as possible as to not burden her! This is a beautiful partnership!

This made me realize the things we take for granted like being able to dress oneself. I respect their partnership. Cole stated his goal and Charisma was patient enough to stand back and let him give it a try. That's a skill in itself! Cause I know I would've interrupted his effort or assumed he needed help when he clearly didn't want it. Love yall and thanks for bringing us one your journey!

As someone who works as a care taker, I admire the fact that charisma lets cole complete tasks on his own, such as getting jeans on, without jumping in to help. I know how much you want to help when you see them struggling, but allowing cole to have his independence is such a loving thing! You two are clearly meant to be together xoxo

I wish the guy I've been with for just over 3 years was capable of loving me this way. Or even loving me at all anymore.
Cole that was a great effort transfer from bed to wheelchair and putting on pants first time independently as much as possible. You're Very considerate of Charisma!

Thank you for letting the world into your private life. My friend’s sister had a lift that took her from her bed into her bath along a track. People need to be aware of what a paralyzed individual deal with on a day to day basis. You are killing it!

Beautiful- I give them so much credit. This couple reminds me of my mom and dad. My father was a mute quadriplegic (due to complications from ALS) who could only move his big toe and was bed bound (he had a computer connected to his toe so he could communicate). The morning routines were always the longest with the bath, feeding, medicine, ventilator, etc. I recall that people often pitied them both - I always pitied the onlookers because they probably would never experience a genuine love like the two of them shared.

you are amazing. I know exactly how this routine is, my husband is a paraplegic and has continuous spasms so he can't move to any chair alone like that, and in Brazil adaptations are difficult. I love knowing that you guys exist and have each other. That Cole found true love. When I met my husband they said I was crazy. But look at us here 7 years together. ❤️

I hope Charisma can get a few days off each week. Caregiver burnout is definitely a real thing. She’s doing a BEAUTIFUL job and Cole is so patient with her

The way you two help each other and rely on one another is amazing! Cole i can see your happiness when you achieve things! You are becoming ALOT more independent. Charisma you are beautiful inside and out and definitely someone to look up too, you not only help Cole with hard task but you help him become more independent by not getting inpatient when he's trying to do something on his own. I'm sure she wouldn't be there if it was a one way thing, and I'm sure she wouldn't be genuinely happy recording videos if he didn't do anything for her. They are clearly in love and just because they show you what she does for him, doesn't mean you can and he doesn't do his part for her. Love is love, its not about who does more its about being there for one another reguardless of "but I helped you more yesterday so I am better.." umm no. Its a team effort when you're in a relationship, not a competition. And him "relying" on her isnt somthing he made her do its somthing she has said in videos she wanted to do, instead of a nurse coming in. Because she loves him and doesn't mind being out the one she loves. Just like I'm sure he does for her!

Actually hes not very independent. I know usa therapaists not so good as in scandinavia. But here many same level injury level as him, lives alone coz here they teach how.. im c6 complete

How can you not be motived to stay positive when watching these two? I know for me being disable this definitely helps me to cope with small everyday task that we all may take for granted and never really give much thought to, because it's just a normal part of life and our everyday living. I know I did. I never gave it any thought until when it became a part of my life two yrs ago. Not to this degree but enough to where I had to finally retire last year at 58 yrs old because of my condition from the field of healthcare Where I've been for 30 plus years. I really apperciate how he tries to do as much for himself as he can to help lighten her load. That's very loving. Keep posting you guys you never know who's watching or who you maybe helping. My brother was in a car wreck in 1997. He was a C4, C5, C6, C7 and T1 quad. His level of injury made him almost exactly like Cole. Actually you remind me of him very much.

Just amazing!! I suffered a spinal cord injury 3 years ago which left me paralyzed waist down. With a lot of PT, a great support system and faith I can now stand and walk assisted. I love..love..love their bond, strength and positivity. This is EXACTLY what it takes for healing.. mind..body and soul.. You are both inspirational and super cute ❤

You are probably classified as class 2 or above obese if you are having trouble getting jeans on. Got overweight friends I have changed with and none have any trouble getting pants on.
@@JamaicanRain You have literally no way of knowing that and absolutely no knowledge of their situation to try and be their internet doctor. WAY more likely than whatever class of obese you think they are is that they probably just wear jeans that are too small. A lot of people feel ashamed of their size and buy clothes that are too small in an effort to motivate themselves to lose weight or out of denial. When you are larger the differences in body shape become more prominent as well so what fits one person at size 18 might not fit another that also usually wears size 18.

Could you all sew loops on the inside of the hips of Cole's pants with something like a ribbon? Like really small suspenders? They could be long enough to reach his waist so they're easier for him to hook into. I think that might help Cole hike his pants up easier!

It sure makes a huge difference when one has the newest equipment for daily living. I am quite amazed at how much easier it makes both the caregivers life and the quad. Your blessed to have it.
My little cousin Troy got "Ghost Shipped" when he was 19 on an oil rig. A rogue cable whipped out and gave him a Chelsea grin and broke his neck. He is a drug addict now. And stuck in a loop of stories he has made up about his life. The latter part nobody really understands. He is rotting in that chair mostly because he is lonely. Who wants their mom and sister washing and feeding and clothing them??? Our grandmother died within a week of his accident and his girlfriend immediately cheated on him and left while he was still in hospital. I wish I could help him. But what do you do for someone so lost? I don't know you guys but I'm still proud of you overcoming tragedy and with smiling faces soldiering on together. It's beautiful.

This is soooo precious to me. You guys are so blessed.
Some of the biggest problems in couple relationships are the lack of communication, respect, intimacy and sex. And, these can cause a divorce or breakups. And, Cole gives her Charisma ALL THIS AND MUCH MORE than a lot of able bodied men give to their partners. These are some of the things that make a relationship healthy and happy. Cole is a real man regardless of some limitations he may encounter. Because, communication, respect, intimacy and sex does not have to do with having an able body or not. I'm a psw and this would help so many people in the homecare setting! I'll be doing some research but I hope this type of chair is available here in Canada. I have yet to see one but I know it would help many!

Thank you for sharing your life with us! I'm so inspired watching Cole try difficult things that most able-bodied people take for granted, like putting on one's own pants. Every time I watch these videos, I think to myself: "Self, WHY are you not doing the things you're not doing again??" Cole and Charisma, you two are AMAZOIDS!!!
Charisma you are a very strong woman I love the way you take care of cole I took care of my husband like that only he had stomach cancer and on Friday night I lost him he taught me to stay strong when god comes for him so god bless you always.

Cole you have come a very long way in the area of independance! Your attitude towards the challenges of being more independent is much more confident too. That's a compliment to your maturity and growth as a man. Charisma continues to always leave room for you to grow or in assisting you. I'm GLAD you two made this video. I had a stroke that left me paralyzed on one side. My caregiver takes me a bath in the bed. I love the routine you both have. There is NO WAY a chair like that can fit in our bathroom. I love that works for both of you.

Cole You didn't great for your first time I'm in a wheelchair to I have Cerebral Palsy so I know how hard it is to put your own clothes on shifting your weight from one side to the other to try and get turned over to get your pants up charisma I love that you are always supportive with whatever Cole wants to do on his road to being more independent🥰👌
My uncle was Quadriplegic, also in an interracial relationship quite like this one! The shower chair just reminded me of the times when we’d play as kids in the equipment he needed🤣 your videos always bring back good memories❤️

My dad is in a wheelchair, and my mom is so helpful! I've gotten use to it. He's been in a wheelchair for almost 10 years now.
You are amazing Cole - the adaptive jeans are something I could have done with 14 years ago ! I was in a wheelchair for a year following a car accident and relied on my husband for bathing, toileting and dressing, rolling in bed etc. I was not paralysed but had multiple bone breaks and muscle, soft tissue injuries. I had a fantastic occupational therapist who helped me gain independence with different tools and strategies and my injuries healed and my ability to do things for myself improved. While I’m mostly able bodied these days, I still walk with a stick and use some of the tools the OT provided that help me get things done. There are still days when I sometimes need help to get my pants or shoes on and I am so thankful to have a supportive partner who is there to help me when I need him. Charisma - you guys are a great couple, I love how Cole is able to be independent with so many things whilst you are still there to aid him when needed. ❤️

Cole im so proud of you my friend!! your sheer determination to get those pants on by yourself was amazing.. You struggled but you didnt give up.. Im a paraplegic and I cant get my pants on to save my life (too many surgeries and no stomach muscles to hold me up anymore) I love that even though you might not end up being able to do something, you try first, like with the hiking, that scared me to watch, but you DID it!! I know a lot of people in your situation and even my situation who would just give up and rot because they couldnt handle it, i know youre going to have bad days but im proud of you for not letting your disability beat the crap out of you..

Wow they have come such along way in technology my father became wheelchair able back in 1994. He used pull bars and a plastic shower chair.
