On Rock Shox forks, you undo an allen bolt on the bottom of the damper side, then you can undo the whole damper unit from the uppers. Oil drips out, then you put in the new damper and fill in some oil from the bottom, install the allen bolt and you are finished.
Actually I believe the new Charger 3 dampers you can directly unthread from the top of the CSU and drop in whatever cartridge you like without messing with the lowers.. Someone with more knowledge feel free to correct me

How can you drop in the damping cartridge without taking off the lower legs? How does it attach inside at the bottom if u dont need to?
