Starting a new Journey with THE GOOD PLACE and already can get enough. It is such a unique concept that is so deep yet so hilarious. If you love the show and you enjoyed my reaction please do all the RUclips things for me. It really helps the video grow and reach other people. Thank you🌸🌸
Please Please Please do yourself a favor and don't read comments until you're done with the series (since you're so far ahead on patreon.) The plot is amazing and can be so easily spoiled and it's such an amazing thing to experience spoiler-free. I really wish I was able to re-experience this series for the first time again.
The way it eases you into exploring philosophical questions and ideas was really groundbreaking. Especially the way it uses Eleanor as our access to those themes with both humor and heart.
I really hope no one spoils anything for you, even accidentally. The entire show is so tightly written and brilliant. I'm not even someone who cares so much when I get spoiled on something, but this show... it's something else
Couldn't agree more. This is a show that deserves to be spoiler free! Such an under-recognized show. I will legit watch any reactor who watches this show!
oh HARD agree. this is one of the shows where a spoiler really ruins the fun. most shows a spoiler just makes me more excited for that part, or tells me that i might not be able to watch the rest of the show because it'll kill me emotionally lol. the spoilers for this show just ruin the fun in trying to figure things out on your own. its like Attack on Titan in that sense even though the shows are nothing alike, but there's certain things that only hit as hard when you're attached to the characters and deep into the story
This is my comfort show!! It's so clever, hilarious, it's a fairly diverse cast, and every season feels like it's meaningful to the story. I haven't seen many people react to this show before so i'm excited to see this!
The writing for this series is so well done. They really take their time to fully explore their premise and every reveal is perfectly timed and wonderfully delivered. I've always been great at picking up plot-twists, but this show got me quite a few times. Largely because they don't treat the audience like we're dumb 😂
This is honestly one of the few shows I consider perfect from start to finish. It was so much fun to watch you going in blind and seeing your first reactions, it was like I was reliving the magic of watching the show for the first time myself! Thanks for an awesome vid!
Oh one of my favorites! Just love to watch it over and over! Hope you enjoy a short-but-sweet four seasons with this show! I'll drop in once it starts!
One of my favorite things about this show is how it cuts to the chase. A lesser show would’ve waited for the mid-season cliffhanger to have the confrontation between Eleanor and Jianyu. It’s more normalized these days, with 6-episode seasons, but for a show with a 13-episode season to move this fast was highly unusual in those days, and very welcome.
@@Yggdrasil42 I suppose there's also the changes in how shows tell their stories alongside those changes in episode count. At least as far as US-produced shows are concerned. When shows had really long seasons a lot of the content out there was typically the weekly-airing sitcoms where each episode usually had to be its own self-contained story because recording episodes to watch later wasn't really a thing yet and viewers could miss an episode entirely if they were busy when it aired. From VCRs to Tivo to streaming on-demand, it's gotten easier over the years to have access content on your own time. (Plus of course the rise of Netflix's trend of dropping a whole season of something all at once, which viewers will binge watch in one or two sessions. Instead of spacing out episode releases.) And show writers got more comfortable with the idea of ongoing plot threads that take multiple episodes to resolve. But yeah... Shows now will take you on a ride from episode 1 to the end, and then you realize after episode 12 or 8 or 6 or whatever that that's the end of the season and you leave feeling a bit disappointed that they pulled the rug out from under you.
47:59 the thing is, no matter how many companies you support or if you try to avoid buying something from some bad ones, the point is, she should respect that her boyfriend didn't wanna buy coffee from one bad guy. She should not make fun of him and his values, and yeII at him. As he says, shouldn't we at least try?all companies do bad things, but boycotting that one creepycoffee guy could still be better than doing nothing.
I'm so excited for another person to experience this wonderful show! The show constantly surprised me when I first watched and it was a delightful journey the entire way. Welcome to The Good Place! Everything Is Fine 😇
On boycotting: I don't even necessarily intentionally boycott things most of the time. I just feel icky using a product or service, or consuming content, when I know really bad things about the CEO, company, or creator, so I prefer to avoid them. When I go in search of ethical alternatives, I actually call it "The Good Place game".
Oh boy, based on your commentary, you're gonna LOVE this show! YT algorithm brought me to this reaction, and I loved watching your reaction. Definitely gonna follow your journey! I really appreciate you taking the time and pausing the show to discuss what's going on, it's so much better than commenting on the fly, it really allows a more in depth discussion on the subjects that are brought up in this clever clever show. (Also, What Dreams May Come is my ultimate favorite movie, so you already had me there... In the book, BTW, the "punishment" for suicide is not as harsh as in the film version, but the concept of "hell" is more elaborated and heartbreaking. But I'm with you, and Chris, 100%. People who took their own lives suffered enough, they shouldn't be punished because of that.) Anyway, back to The Good Place - looking forward to go to this amazing journey with you, it really is a perfect show IMO
I'm so happy I stumbled on this reaction! The Good Place is one of the best series ever made, full stop. I'm excited for you to see how this show progresses; it only gets better with each episode. I hope‐‐PLEASE--no one spoils anything for you. Subscribed.
When this show first started, I remember seeing the commercials and ads for it all over Universal Stuidos (I live in North Hollywood, so im close by) And I thought, "What a dumb show!" I completely wrote it off before seeing it because I didn't think it would be good or interesting It wasn't until seaosn 3 had wrapped, and seasons 1 and 2 were on Netflix during the pandemic that I gave the show a chance, and it became one of my favorite series ever Hopefully, you stay spoiler free and get to experience the show as it was meant to be
Honestly this is one of my favorite series of all time. It's a great ride from beginning to end, and it has one of the most satisfying endings I've seen. You're in for a great ride.
I watched this entire show, TWICE. Alot of episodes, alot of emotions and alot of laughs. This show is absolutely my favorite..idk how it wasnt even bigger then it was.
One thing I think a lot of people miss is "everything is fine ' in the beginning is a reference to a song from the David Lynch film Eraserhead, which contains the line "in heaven everything is fine".
This is legit one of my favourite shows of all time! I hope every reactor on youtube watches this show! You are starting an amazing journey, my friend!
It's such a great series. I remember starting it and liking it, but comedies aren't really my thing, so I didn't think I would love it, but I got invested so fast. Also, I love when shows actually have a planned end in mind makes everything so cohesive.
This is my favorite show- i'm so stoked for your Good Place journey! Really looking forward to your commentary bc I really enjoy your insight! Have a great day! :)
I am so excited to listen to your thoughts as you experience the wild philosophical/emotional ride(s) that this show offers packed in its unassuming sitcom skin. You have had a real knack for finding hidden gems and shows that really work for your emotionally intelligent and insightful commentary, we are very lucky to come along.
The show just gets progressively better as it goes on. I’ve seen so many shows fall off or get worse over seasons, but it truly ends PERFECTLY. You’ll laugh, you’ll (DEFINITELY) cry, and you’ll find yourself wanting to watch it again from the beginning as soon as it’s over. I’m so excited that you’re going on this journey.🥹
Definitely keep this one such a funny, engaging, and emotional show that teaches good lessons and makes you really think. While also delivering some of the best gags and plot developments of any sit com I've ever seen. Have fun Frank!!!
This makes my whole year seeing that you are reacting to this show! It's on par with Ted Lasso as one of my all time faves, highly rewatchable...you will love it!
The creative decisions are so good. Yes, they have special effects, making people and shrimp fly, but the decision to not do any materialization of Janet, just to cut to angle where she’s already there and do a little ding is BRILLIANT. It makes it feel like we’re in on the joke, like there’s no reason to try and fool us that it’s real. It takes the audience’s intelligence seriously.
This show is awesome it manages to be silly and thoughful and clever all in one. It goes in weird directions but it's super entertaining! Looking forward to more reactions!
Yes, love this show, so glad you're watching it. I came a little late to the show, so I'm leaving a comment instead of getting in on the chat. I have watched this show at least 3 times. Whenever I am thinking of watching something, and when I just don't want to be watching another show that I'm just pressing through without much enthusiasm I end up watching it again. The characters are people I would like to know in real life. Oh, and Kristen Bell is also a native Michigander, like me. She and her hubby, Dax Shepard are both originally from Detroit.
Your boycott conversation is valuable, but I simply go by the standard "don't let perfect be the enemy of good." We can't know all the bad things we inadvertantly support with our money and sometimes we are forced to do so (there are entire towns where the only food for 100 miles is Wal-Mart for example, they support it or starve) and that's okay. But sometimes you learn that something you purchase is using the money you give them to do crappy things and you DO have a choice, and when you do, you make the value judgement personally and decide where you draw the line. And that line might be different every time. Others may even call you hypocrite for it. But that shouldn't dissuade you from trying to follow your conscience and make a better choice. Even if we physically can't possibly research every single purchase and person we support with our money, when we do have the information and when we can make a choice, it's important to make a choice consistent with your values. Even if that's not always an option.
Omg I always feel like so few people know about What Dreams May Come, that movie hit me so hard as a kid! I'm glad to see another reactor doing this show, it's such an awesome show for this style of commentary.
My housemate practically forced me to watch this show. I am so glad he did. It is brilliant. And the ride has just begun. Another show you should try is Orphan Black. Amazing. The main actress plays many characters and I just decided my latest foster cat (who I may adopt) is Mika after one of those charaters.
Halito 👋🏽 Frank, I hope you are doing well. I'm excited you are watching a series I have already watched so I can share in your reactions without being spoiled. This one is one of my favorites! I think you're going to adore it! 🧡
It’s always funny going back and watching Jason as Jianu. The torture it is for Jason NOT being able to talk is hilarious. Especially considering that Jason has some of the best lines in the whole damn show. lol.
Wow I haven't watched this show since it dropped, it will be so cool rewatching again through your POV. Nobody spoil things for Frank, he's going on a journey 😊 Another Netflix show I love that brings a new, deep yet funny and heartfelt take on the afterlife is ‘Tomorrow’ a South Korean show about grim reapers who save people from unaliving themselves. This is priceless❤️😭😂
HI THERE!
I love this! lol
Omg that’s amazing! I need to bring this up to my wife for the next time we get a dog
I have the Janet Funko pop where she's holding a cactus lol.
This is one of the greatest shows I have seen. It‘s funny, wholesome, clever, and casually changed my entire outlook on life
I can totally see that. It makes you a question a lot of things and belief systems. And does it through humor
also absolutely heartbreaking.
The last two episodes of the show always make me cry, and changed the way I look at the afterlife.
Such a beautiful ending too
The way it eases you into exploring philosophical questions and ideas was really groundbreaking. Especially the way it uses Eleanor as our access to those themes with both humor and heart.
It's wild how they disguised a moral philosophy lecture as an incredible tv comedy. Glad you're already hooked!
Exactly. And it’s done so well.

If anybody spoils it I’m going to bite them.
Michael Schur managed to create a sitcom about ethical philosophy while also making it one of the funniest and most wholesome shows ever
Going into this show blind is one of the best decisions you could make. It’s an absolute masterpiece

Dude your members are recommending some great shows to you!! Ted Lasso, Fleabag, and now the Good Place!! I’m so excited to see you react to this show :)
For real! I’ve been eating good
Love the good place. Love the whole show, but the first 1.5 seasons are perfect for a comedy drama.
Can't wait to watch it all
I love this show so much. I've watched it so many times. Chidi is my favorite character. I've seen that actor on another show and I think he's great
