I love your bin system! It’s amazing. I think you can easily sew 5 garments. 7 if you count kiddos

I'm kind of in the middle style of organizing. I like MOST things put away and off the desktops. But I love having my fabric in bins so I can see what I have. I have all the confidence that you can sew down that bin!!

I am also a hidden storage person, it has to be put away but easily accessible, labeled and easy to locate in a sensical way. I hang my woven fabrics but fold or roll my knits. Those bins looked perfect!

It’s the best of both worlds - having it stored neatly but easily accessible.

Stash Hub really is a game changer. I don’t need to see my fabric to know what I have now. And I love using it to plan my monthly projects. Great video!!

Hi Christine, I love that bin challenge!! 😁 Your shelves do look very put-together, and stuff doesn't look crowded into the space. Having a system that's easy to maintain will really pay off. I'll look forward to seeing how you use all those - I love cozy fabrics, too! It looks like things that can be run through the serger quickly. You go! 💪
I agree, having fabric sitting around is distracting; the more there is, the slower I go. 🙃 In my room, it's because I get ideas for outfits, or start thinking of fabrics that go together, etc. while I'm working on a project. Before starting the next thing, everything gets put back away and I can take a deep breath haha. Doing that also results in things never getting very far out of hand.

I already have one completed! A quick serger make. I use a lot of space when I sew, so I need stuff put up or I can’t find where I laid the sleeves I cut out a few minutes ago! 😂

Great system but I'm in the first camp I have to see it but it has to be neat and tidy and organised as I have a small space thank for the update 😊😊😊

I too like storage but I didn’t think of a wall and I need to visualize the fabric through the bin. Thanks for the tips. Good luck on your challenge. Please show us a finished project or two so it will encourage you and us.

I will be sharing my makes! I can see the fabric a bit through the Really Useful Boxes, though some of my boxes are packed!!! I spent a load of time playing Tetris with scraps of fabric to use up the last of the jungle dreamer fabric only to find at the bottom of the bin a largish scrap to then pattern Tetris a pair of joggers for one of the boys. I loved that fabric but it does feel good to finish it. My unwillingness to waste fabric and finding the little people don’t need a lot has led to the huge cozy stash 🙄.

Great tips! I have kallax units and fold the fabric into the fabric boxes/bins so it looks like books from above when you look into the box. Currently and patiently uploading them all onto stash hub! I have gone through a few different ways to store my fabrics and find this one to be good as I can find a fabric on stash hub and I can locate in from the information on the app to the relevant box and location!

Yes, Stash Hub makes it so easy. It is great when you settle on what works for you.

Great storage tips, Christine. LOL, you’re are going to be busy over the next 5 weeks. Just think of all the beautiful cozy makes you will have.
I’m a little late to the party, but I finally signed up for Stash Hub in November. I’m still adding my patterns and fabrics. I’m going to enjoy using the app.
    Happy Sewing!😊

The Magic Input is kind of Magic. It was definitely worth the time of input. I did not input the bag making stuff because I can easily rummage in that bin, nit as much fabric. I have not done anything with notions for the opposite reason - I have a gracious plenty!

I like your fabric storage. I have one of those metal shelves on wheels that i can roll in an out of my craftroom closet. I recently folded and organized my fabrics on that shelf. It looks lovely now, we will see how long i can keep it that way.😊

Oh man I’m so bad at estimating things but I’ll take a swing at this one: 12 cozy garments in 5-6 weeks? I have no idea if that’s an undershoot or an overshoot so I’m looking forward to finding out how it goes!
The bins and labels are so satisfying and seem like a great system. I have bit of cube storage and a large semi-organized stack of fabric right now (plus a bin of swim/active 🤦🏻‍♀️). The plan this year is to sew significantly more than I bring in, so hopefully that will mean I can develop a better system toward the fall.

Great tips Christine! How do you store your printed pdf patterns?

    • @ChristineSewsALot
      @ChristineSewsALot  19 дней назад

I showed that in an earlier video, but get a lot of questions about specifics so will address it again. I buy cardboard mailers and fold the PDF patterns and then store them on their sides in a kallax unit. I label them and organize them by pattern house. Makes it quick and easy to find what I want and stores them neatly.

You can sew dog sweaters, sweaters for the homeless, women’s shelter, you could make sweaters to drop off for abused kids at hospitals or use it for stuffed animals?? Not sure about that one. You could donate to a school who still has home economics classes
