Yup. One of a number of really exceptional songs that A) deserve a LOT of worldwide recognition, and B) I'm thoroughly addicted to returning to again and again.

When I hear this, I can just smell the old musty apartment flat, the whiskey and cigarette smoke and the cheap perfume in her hair, and get that aching feeling of helplessness in your stomach and chest when you see her turn and walk away.
This is some absolute beautiful, sad, sick blues that I love so much…

Talk about hidden gems on RUclips, this is one of those! Should have a million views. The musicianship, the vocals, the composition are all over the top, epic really. I keep coming back to this one.

Great!!!! Tad Robinson is one fantastic singer who needs to get more recognition. His song "I'm On the Outside Looking In" with Dave Specter on guitar is a masterpiece!

This cover gets to the heart of things more than anybody else--the spirit of late great Charlie Rich is here.

@shyclown52 Hey for all who are interested- this was from sessions done just days after 9/11/2001 in Los Angeles. For me, this is the best piece on the record. As stated, that's Tad Robinson singing. Myself on guitar.
The great Larry Taylor on upright bass. Hammond Organ, from Torino, Italy- Alberto Marsico. On drums, from Varese, Italy- Gio "Joe" Rossi. I brought Alberto & Gio over from Italy to cut in los angeles with a whole cast of characters. Tad & Larry barely got flights in after 9/11

Just in case nobody mentions it, this is soul perfection. Thank you. It's another one I'm gonna put into my online stash of tuneful magnificence , so I can listen to it when I want.

Thanks for this. I'd been a fan of the Amazing Rhythm Aces version for decades, and only just today, after stumbling across a very nice recent version by Zataban, did I learn that it was originally by Charlie Rich. That of course also led me here, and this was lovely. I especially appreciated the sumptuous & spacious phrasing of guitar & organ.
