My CAM dump trailer ramps have a piece of metal that overhangs the end of the ramp a few inches. Once in a while depending on if I’m on a hill or not the ramps will completely see-saw up into the air coming off their hangers. They have always landed back in the right spot so far but waiting for the day one slaps me in the back of the head while backing my mini skid onto the trailer
Damn ,that must be a scary feeling when it happens...LOL Hopefully nothing too bad ever happens. I really like the design of this trailer but you got to make sure the ramps sit nice and level before you load ✌
@The Christian Hardscaper For Canadian cold weather climates in Northern Alberta where there’s lots of freeze/thaw, how deep would I have to go for a fully concrete fence/wall? I know for concrete fence posts spaced say 6 feet apart I should go like 4 feet deep… but if the entire wall is concrete, can I get away with less like 18” deep?
It is tough to say... 18 inches may be fine but concrete can crack very easily with just small amount of shifting in the sub soil. If you go 18 inches, just make sure you compact the heck out of it and add as much stabilization precautions as possible.

I just don’t want to go 4’ deep for the entire wall which would be lot of concrete. The wall would only be about 18” high between the posts so 36” overall if 18” is also buried.
I think stone work is coming back. We do a lot of walls on our jobs, but like you said, not many can do walls. We also do veneer stones also. Nice work.

Folks told me growing up his "hands are all over the town". Can't wait to see end result. Reminds me of when Nehemiah rebuilt the walls in Jerusalem. That cornerstone cut looks outstanding. Also, love how conscious you are about protecting the road from damage from equipment use. I've seen you also do it for yards as well. That showcases how truly a professional you guys really are. I've seen some crews don't give a crap about that kind of stuff which oftentimes reflects their finished product. Can't wait to see this wall finished.

As much as there may seem to be benefits to landscape fabrics, ultimately, it is just more plastic being put into the environment. That said, I avoid it as much as possible
I understand what you mean and there are a lot of downsides to plastic materials. But plastic materials have also made a huge impact on the overall progression of the world. In this situation, plastic is what will make this project last decades longer than not having it. I think that is beneficial, not harmful. ✌🏻
Built a few retaining walls on Lake Chargoggagoggmachagagoggchaubunagungamaugg out of rip rap. Same tight face dry look, 10 shovels of concrete sand for every 3 shovels of Portland. All done in a wheelbarrow. Learned a lot about myself and how far I could push my talents. Any time I make a mistake these days, I can still hear my boss saying “oh my f$&@ing word!” despite not having worked for him in over ten years.
That’s really cool man, that lake is 15 minutes from my house… this work really does show you how far you can push yourself without a doubt. You can learn a lot from jobs like this ✌🏻

Thanks John, it is very labor intensive… I estimated it based on how long I pictured it taking us based off my experience doing these types of walls in the past. No perfect formula really yet though. I need a few more to really dial it in but we are on track with my estimate so far ✌🏻
We live in an impatient world…everyone wants everything quick, easy and cheap! Only a master craftsman still has the patience and attention to detail to build things that look beautiful and out last us….and we see it here!

Yeah that’s smart , I think it was around 3k with a couple different lifting pads so not super expensive. Love the content you put out so keep it up!
