Elliott Parker easy just get type r brake calipers with carrier and discs and pads. Then if the have a 5 stud ep2 it's a straight bolt on easiest mod to do for a ep2 cost no more then £100
I have an EP2; I bought it as my first car (at the age of 27!) after being impressed with my brothers. Mine isnt so good cosmetically - it is used daily, and it's used for anything and everything. But it is very easy to work on, cheap to run (I have had 50 mpg a few times...calculated from filling up, not from the over optimistic MPG-ometer!) and mostly reliable. I have had an issue with the throttle body (the idle control valve was dirty, causing poor idling) and that's it. I would like to upgrade the suspension, and work out some better pads and lines for the brakes. Good car, and with such little power you can have a lot of fun and not risk your license.
Had an EP2 at the age of 18, and couldn't recommend it enough. I've got an FN2 now, which i adore. But there's still parts of me which miss the EP2. Quality car, genuine review!
'young drivers review' proceeds to tell us he's 23 and has 5 years no claims, I was hoping to see how an 18 or 19 year old could maybe find some insurance for this car with the mods declared. This was almost as bad as doing a 'young drivers' review on a 2.0 fiesta ST, do you even live In England Jamie??
Im 18, live in northern ireland (not great for insurance and still on 'R' plates) but was suprised when i done an insurance quote for one of these how cheap it was compared to a 1.4 astra.
I'm hoping to get a EP2 as my first car, which will already be a challenge considering irish insurance is a joke but I'll basically give it the looks of the type r inside and out minus the type r badges
My spec on the civic ep2: V-maxx coilovers Type r gloss black alloys Type r front brakes Hoffmann mid pipe with spoon rep back box Genuine s2000 starter button (working) Dc2 recaros on ep3 premier rails Ep3 gear gaiter Skunk2 gear knob Neuspeed short shifter Camo roof and wing Mugen rep spoiler Genuine type r badges Carbon dipped fog scoops Super Mario door cards Stripped out rear
i had an ep2, had gearbox problems, was a type r rep, i thought it was slower than my 1.4 ej9 tbh and also handled so badly, i just like the look of them.
I actually own a Civic EP1 (I'm gonna be making more Videos on it on my channel) and I'm looking to replace it for an EP2 in a few months. This video was helpful, I just wish you had clips of it being reved out more to see how it compares to the EP1. Lol type R's are really expensive to insure so I gotta get an EP2. EP's are all I really know.
legit almost bought one of these the other day. instead grabbed a 09 fiesta zetec s looking 1.6 tdci if i saw this earlier i may have this instead xD. still happy with my buy tho!
gearstick location is better than any car I've ever driven. I'm gonna be disappointed having to go from this to a normal one. if you get chance drive one so you can see how awesome the location of it really is
Yh even I thought it was weird when I got my EP1. But I love it, it just feels way better to drive, it's more fun somehow. The distance from the shifter and steering wheel is shorter.
Trust me it is for a 17 year old. When I was insuring one as my first car a 1.2 corsa was 1200 with a black box and a EP2 was 1500 with a black box that is pretty good I think.
Ive got one as well for my first car, paid £1800 for the insurance with a black box and a few small mods declared (Type r wheels, type r spoiler and a sub)
Man, great car ! Good job done there ! Please tell me about the side on the doors, how did u do that ?!? I love it. And whats that on a front fender ? A foil ?
had a ep2 with full type r rep body kid with cobra sport full exhaust kit i cant agree with the fuel sold mine 5 months ago getting another ep2 in 3 day XD
I owned one of the these a few years ago and loved it. Handled great, looked good with all the tyre R bits on it and near enough 50 mpg on a decent run. Just a shame it was so fucking slow!!!
Fully comp, 3rd party figher and theft? There's many different ways of insuring your car. £590 with 5 years no claims bonus and declaring his upgrades also is cheap especialy if he's gone fully comp.
I live just outside of Birmingham and also have 5 years NCB. All modifications are declared, fully comp, my own policy etc. Also insured for all of Europe I believe. Oh and I was only 21 when I payed this premium so hopefully cheaper this year..
I recently bought an EP2 and i am very excited to collect it at the garage tomorrow, This is my second car and i have already insured it , I pay £600 comprehensive (im 20 now), But for a first car it will be expensive because i had a fiat punto 1.2 and I was paying around £750 for it (19 at the time).
Pretty cheap insurance that.. I have a 1.2L Vauxhall corsa sxi+ twinport all standard expect sound system my insurance is 1.3k only have 1 years no claims but no black box thank god had Ford Focus mk1 ST170 but sadly lost control and put it into a ditch oil spill on a slip road on to M180 northbound but I did role it 3 time so I got rid of it big time but my insurance was 2.5k before hand 😂😂
These are prob the best 1.6 NA hatch there is tbh. They are not good on long motorway runs though. A 6 speed gearbox would have been a nice. That was the only fault I could give my old one tbh.
Bradley0beaver front and rear splitter and side skirts are the same. Yeah the exhaust is slightly different from the car back. The seats, spoiler, front brakes and wheels are different from the type r
my insurance for a 1 litre peugeot 107 was £2000 for my first year. i cant see a 1.6 litre being less than £2500 for the first year but like you said there is factors which effect this. the big thing i think which determines insurance is location. i live in london and as a joke i put a address just outside london and it was £500 cheaper.
Yeah, mine's with a box as well. Hoping to get an EP2 as my second car in a couple years. The Viva's a fairly good runaround... it gets the job done. Wouldn't have minded a Corsa D or E, but they were a bit outta my price range.
Yeah the spoiler and back box is but I can afford ££££ for a really spoon or mugen so shut the fuck up the recaros are really all the parts cost me £1200 it's a daily on a budget so for what I've spent it looks great and I don't see yours on Jamie fyd video so 🖕🏻
Stipped out rear, loads of mods? Sigh, just buy a ep3. Younger driver? im 21 with a GSXR 750 Insurance £350/yr 0-60 in around 3 seconds will hit 180mph. Want speed and fun get a bike and dont waste your time/money. No idea why these people waste good money on their shitty engines that arent made for it. I drive a 330ci and its more than enough to keep up with boy racers.
not always about speed with driving, but yeah motorbikes are the route for cheap speed, but still theirs a big difference between a motorbike and car, and a 330i is in a whole different catogory to a FWD lightweight hatchback, speed and cost wise
Nice to see an EP2 getting some credit. Don't get me wrong it's not a type r but I still think they're massively underrated! I love mine! Cool vid! 👍
josh taylor I agree
It doesnt pull like a 110hp but like a 140
Big thanks to Jamie for the review of my ep2 👍🏻
Lemme know when you're breaking it because I need that rear bumper!
how easy is it to change the standard ep2 break setup with a type R one, and also what will i need? great ep2 btw :)
Elliott Parker easy just get type r brake calipers with carrier and discs and pads. Then if the have a 5 stud ep2 it's a straight bolt on easiest mod to do for a ep2 cost no more then £100
nice one thanks, what about break hoses?
Elliott Parker not running anything different as can be bothered changing them. Braided lines are good for track days
I have an EP2; I bought it as my first car (at the age of 27!) after being impressed with my brothers. Mine isnt so good cosmetically - it is used daily, and it's used for anything and everything. I'm looking to get 1 for my first car u think it's worth it
@@saif609 I'm 16 now cant wait for first car def getting a civic ihave a field car ep1 and its so reliable and fun
'young drivers review'
proceeds to tell us he's 23 and has 5 years no claims, I was hoping to see how an 18 or 19 year old could maybe find some insurance for this car with the mods declared. This was almost as bad as doing a 'young drivers' review on a 2.0 fiesta ST, do you even live In England Jamie??
JVWW I’m 17 with one so it’s easily possible
Chicken Chow Mein really ?
Modify Media same here im 18 with 1 years no claims and can insure an ep2 for around £130 a month 👍
Harrison Pughe do you have Instagram so we can chat a bit more I’ve got some questions 🤟
Harrison Pughe how the hell have you done that then
Im 18, live in northern ireland (not great for insurance and still on 'R' plates) but was suprised when i done an insurance quote for one of these how cheap it was compared to a 1.4 astra.
Really nice civic , it's definitely done right anyway. The army camos go well with silver 2. Get some wear out of the engine and drop a k20 in 🙂
need another review on a B road! but nice to see someone else in the car.
A long waited review for the EP2 (owner here)
I'm hoping to get a EP2 as my first car, which will already be a challenge considering irish insurance is a joke but I'll basically give it the looks of the type r inside and out minus the type r badges
That pink red ish nsx lives near me. I own a ep2 first time and it's probly one of the best cars to drive. Great to drive
The door interior is soo cool 🔥
My spec on the civic ep2:
V-maxx coilovers
Type r gloss black alloys
Type r front brakes
Hoffmann mid pipe with spoon rep back box
Genuine s2000 starter button (working)
Dc2 recaros on ep3 premier rails
Ep3 gear gaiter
Skunk2 gear knob
Neuspeed short shifter
Camo roof and wing
Mugen rep spoiler
Genuine type r badges
Carbon dipped fog scoops
Super Mario door cards
Stripped out rear
Any plans on getting a k20?
+96jpaulo no to much hassle to swap it's easy but can't be fucked. I'm saving to start on my partners ep and get that ready for shows next year
How much did this cost
i had an ep2, had gearbox problems, was a type r rep, i thought it was slower than my 1.4 ej9 tbh and also handled so badly, i just like the look of them.
my fastest ep2 time it did0-60 in 8.3secs. an ej9 isnt faster then it or better at handling
mate 500 is amazing.. im looking at still 1200+ at 23 (no NCB tho) had license from 17
I actually own a Civic EP1 (I'm gonna be making more Videos on it on my channel) and I'm looking to replace it for an EP2 in a few months.

Not a fan personally. Whatever floats your boat though! That gearstick location makes me think of a dislocated shoulder...
i dont like the gearbox but i suppose people get used to it
gearstick location is better than any car I've ever driven. I'm gonna be disappointed having to go from this to a normal one. if you get chance drive one so you can see how awesome the location of it really is
Yh even I thought it was weird when I got my EP1. But I love it, it just feels way better to drive, it's more fun somehow. The distance from the shifter and steering wheel is shorter.
why dont you try drive it you fuck, I bet you've never tried driving with the gearstick in that location.
+Mysterious Laptop Lmfao why are you so angry? Everyone's taste is different.. no I haven't, don't like the look of the cars at all so can't own one.
Feel free to do my ep2 if you're around Chichester anytime soon
Love the EP2, I've had 2 and I'm only 18 haha! Very good on insurance for a first car considering it's a 1.6
And the EP2 comes in Vivid Blue which is what I've got. Such a shame they didn't do the Type R in that colour
It doesn't seem that cheap to insure, considering I pay £1000 for my premeir ep3 with coilovers, full spoon cat back and gruppe m. 23 with 1yncb
Trust me it is for a 17 year old. When I was insuring one as my first car a 1.2 corsa was 1200 with a black box and a EP2 was 1500 with a black box that is pretty good I think.

Man, great car ! Good job done there !

And whats that on a front fender ? A foil ?
Tomas Baltushka just bought some fabrics of eBay and cut and glued it on. I've got my own channel going if you want to subscribe
found his insurance interesting, i picked up my first ep3 when i was 23 5 years nc and it was £510 anyone else similar?
Complete opposite for me. 25, 4 years NCB and still over £800 in an EP2. Makes me angry
Yusssss Ep2 I love mine! There great cars ideal first car!
Love mine too, didn't realise they existed until i looked for a type r then found out the insurance price
I love this car and would love to own one myself
How is this to the 1.6 zetec s petrol Ford fiesta? Handling speed?
Top man Jamie your now an Essex boy great video showing modded cars are affordable 👍🏻👍🏻
had a ep2 with full type r rep body kid with cobra sport full exhaust kit i cant agree with the fuel sold mine 5 months ago getting another ep2 in 3 day XD
I owned one of the these a few years ago and loved it. Handled great, looked good with all the tyre R bits on it and near enough 50 mpg on a decent run. Just a shame it was so fucking slow!!!
Ep2 engine tho.... good gas mileage I guess
Does this car have tc? How do u get it to wheel spin
I got a eu8 so the 5 door version of the ep2 same engine and I’ve been driving a year and I’m 22 and a claim and it’s £130 a month
broo i bought the ep2 and it dusted my friends fiesta 1l ecoboost and corsas. ive been getting cool looks and its an underrated good carr
drive a modified corsa d or corsa vxr please
what you mean ? i just wanna see him drive a corsa d or something
Adolf Hitler. . You are a nazi.. nobody cares what you want to do 😅
to be fair ep3 type r petrol ain't that bad, depends how you drive it.ive had 380miles on a full tank. Don't get nowhere near that in my S60R.
How does the s60 compare to the EP3? I'm thinking about getting a D5 as a second car to go with my Ep3.
Just bought my first EP2, coming from an '04 Fiesta 1.4 its a world of difference, a much faster car to be honest! Im already hooked on it :p
That's expensive insurance! I'm 22 and only pay £600 for a highly modified DC2
Fully comp, 3rd party figher and theft? There's many different ways of insuring your car. £590 with 5 years no claims bonus and declaring his upgrades also is cheap especialy if he's gone fully comp.
I'm 28 and I pay £1800 for a Astra 1.6t
Depends where you live. This is obvious.
I live just outside of Birmingham and also have 5 years NCB. All modifications are declared, fully comp, my own policy etc. Also insured for all of Europe I believe. Oh and I was only 21 when I payed this premium so hopefully cheaper this year..
yeah it is expensive, I pay £650 for fully comp 350Z with mods declared @ 21. Was paying £210 for my old ep2 @ 19.
Where did you get the b pipe from ?
Ep2 is decent, but if you can insure a ep3 go for that for sure
£590 with all mods declared? That’s actually insane, I’ve just bought my ep2 and I have to pay £1400 with no mods :(
i'm considering this or an ej9 as a first car but cant decide ???
ej9 all the way
is the EP2 the Type S?
Ep2 is just the 1.6 model matey
Ep1 was the 1.4 and ep3 is the 2.0 tyre r
yes its the type s
+R Welch no it's not a type s . Type s only comes on the 4 door models 160 odd bhp those are . Are hard to find
+R Welch it's a sport, the type s is also a 2.0 and it's a 5 door
It's a sport
I have a blue one for my daily, lovely cars!
Would I be able to get an ep2 as my first car or would the insurance be ski high
I recently bought an EP2 and i am very excited to collect it at the garage tomorrow, This is my second car and i have already insured it , I pay £600 comprehensive (im 20 now), But for a first car it will be expensive because i had a fiat punto 1.2 and I was paying around £750 for it (19 at the time).
yo Jamie man, are you going to forge action day Saturday?
If he's not I am.
+Tom Carver 😂
Was on stand last year at Forge sadly can't make this year, one hell of an event tho. Weather's going to suck tomorrow. :/
+D. P.S (DPSVideos) more crashes tho 😁😁
Joe Reynolds It's a 15min paid slot at Combe, there's always crashes. ha
What exhaust is on this ?
I know it's old video 📷
But love it 🏁🏁
Repping a Paul Walker sticker, respect mate!
My EP2 does 20 MPG 😂
sameee
I've just bought one of these with only 8221 miles on it completely standard
Frenchie NMO how much did you pay for that
elliott davies 3500, one owner, mint condition and service history
Frenchie NMO and only 8k on the clock that's super super rare I paid £4.4k for mine with 20k on the clock so you got a bargain
yea the guy who owned it has retired and just gave up driving so it's never even been hooned about either
Is the stock Ep2 sport with 110hp?
Moreira Da Lima yes technically 108bhp lol but everyone says 110
Pretty cheap insurance that.. I have a 1.2L Vauxhall corsa sxi+ twinport all standard expect sound system my insurance is 1.3k only have 1 years no claims but no black box thank god had Ford Focus mk1 ST170 but sadly lost control and put it into a ditch oil spill on a slip road on to M180 northbound but I did role it 3 time so I got rid of it big time but my insurance was 2.5k before hand 😂😂
30,000 miles 😰 wow
These are prob the best 1.6 NA hatch there is tbh. They are not good on long motorway runs though. A 6 speed gearbox would have been a nice.
That was the only fault I could give my old one tbh.
what's the difference between ep3 and ep2
rehan ali ep3 have 2lt vtec engine and 6speed gear box and ep2 have 1.6 vtec with a 5 speed apart from that and other small bits there's no difference
Ok
Bradley0beaver front and rear splitter and side skirts are the same. Yeah the exhaust is slightly different from the car back. The seats, spoiler, front brakes and wheels are different from the type r
Bradley0beaver insurance all depends on what you do for a job and where live and all that crap. I'd say about £1400-£1800 for a 17 year old
my insurance for a 1 litre peugeot 107 was £2000 for my first year. i cant see a 1.6 litre being less than £2500 for the first year but like you said there is factors which effect this. the big thing i think which determines insurance is location. i live in london and as a joke i put a address just outside london and it was £500 cheaper.
I'm 23 and my 04 STI is only £800 insurance
How are head gaskets on those? Have you ever had to replace them?
Still dont now what engine??
It’s a d series engine
Keep em coming Jamie.
Nice video Jamie !!
can anyone tell me if ep3 type r wheels fit a ep2 sport
yes if its a restyling, 5x114,3 hub studs pattern, older ones have 4x114,3
They fit the facelift model (2004 onwards)
are these not 4 stud?
restyling are 5 studs
i'm 24 i only pay £600 for a v12 bmw 750il, so that on a honda is pretty expensive
Yeah but all depends on things like your job and where you live. I've declared my parts so it would be about £200 cheaper
i got you, i live in shropshire and work ina warehouse, i have declared parts on my daily 5 series 520i though and that comes in at £700 all in
Very fucking cool civic! I just sold my ep3 recently :((.
i feel you mate
Sad times isn't it :((
Pxndahh indeed, pure sadness
insurance is bloody cheap man i had to get insurance on a shit 2007 1.2 corsa and it's £1300
Nice Civic
I have this car and its pretty good insurance 1400 for a 17 year old
Can't wait till I'm a bit older, I'm paying £1600 for 10 months for my Mini Cooper S R53 :(
£1400 for my (really slow) Vauxhall Viva...
Damn I feel for you dude, I was paying £1600 for a vauxhall corsa with a black box on my first year!
Yeah, mine's with a box as well. Hoping to get an EP2 as my second car in a couple years. The Viva's a fairly good runaround... it gets the job done. Wouldn't have minded a Corsa D or E, but they were a bit outta my price range.
i was paying 1700 in my first year for a 1.6 16v astra
How old are you? I'm paying £1600 for a Fiesta ST150 and I'm 21. Next year I've had a quote and it's under £750 😍
Ebay replica parts special
Yeah the spoiler and back box is but I can afford ££££ for a really spoon or mugen so shut the fuck up the recaros are really all the parts cost me £1200 it's a daily on a budget so for what I've spent it looks great and I don't see yours on Jamie fyd video so 🖕🏻
think it's sick
Some funny bullshit comments on here 😂😂😂
sounds slow...oh wait it IS slow
coupe Turbo oh sorry you must own a vayron. Give a fuck if it's not fast to you.
elliott davies your car so anyones opinion doesnt really matter
