As Drea P3nrod says, DON'T use IPA if you have plastic parts as you will "melt" them👍
WARNING! Do not use alcohol to clean your knife. I did that with mine after watching this video and it started dissolving the scales.
as a tip for the future take off the plastic scales and take all the little tools out of them. also make sure none of the swiss army knife folding parts are made of plastic.
Love your products and am so appreciative you are taking the time to make these maintenance videos. You know a legit SAK Army fan when you see a Swiss Army knife with custom titanium scales!
Heck yeah!! Custom scales FTW. I love Victorinox's stuff. I feel like they had some insane quality way before anyone else was making truly precise knives.
I just used this method on my Leatherman. Thank you for uploading this!
For the cracks you can always use a tool and a cloth. Anything slim and hard, you can even use a butter knife.
Then you can use it to push the cloth inside the lines and use the tool to rub very hard.
Great cleaning video. Very true, Swiss Army knife cleaning can be very time consuming. I’ve also used pointed cotton swabs for knife cleaning. They’re like little cotton swab spears.
Great idea! I'll have to pick some up.
Awesome video! I'll use these techniques to clean the second hand Swiss Champ I just bought. 🙂
I put my CRKs in my ultasonic cleaner, then use micro Q tips, then compressed air.
Thank for the tip.
You bet!
Thanks, great video. I have two of the Multi-Tool Tinker model. The newer one is 23 years old, the other is probably 40. Always kept them sharpened with stones, I always kept them somewhat clean... but your video really laid it out for premium cleaning and oiling. I used Skate ball bearing oil as that was all I had other than 3 in 1.
Interesting and effective.
Thanks!!
Would you immerse a Leatherman Charge in the water bottle like that? If not, what cleaning method for it?
Great information I have a collection of SAK I spent a round $1000 on my collection nice to no how to look after them.
Did someone try an ultrasonic cleaner? I am curious if it would work.
You have an alox scale knife. But if you use alcohol on the plastic scale knife the alcohol will ttack the plastic.
My mams knife has been sitting outside for years and I'm trying to fix it but it is really really seized up can barely move what would u suggest for it?
I don't know what mine is full of, but this isn't getting there 😁
It might be a bit bent since the two normal blades clash. I don't have the cleaning alcohol, how about just some lock defroster in there? 😄
What I do I just soak in dishwashing liquid, brush, soak again, wash soap off. Soak in alcohol and dry. Save the Nalgene. Hehe
Ever heard of a tap?
The Knife Doctor just uses Rem Oil.
What did you lubricate with at the end? It’s not on your materials list.
I used Knife Pivot Lube - knifepivotlube.com
@@knifepivotlube412 Thanks🌿
Or you can open it all up and stick it in a dishwasher like I do?
Background music is making your audio hard to hear.
This is REALLY BAD advice. As others have said, alcohol attacks cellidor/plastic Victorinox scales....
stopped watching when IPA came out. RIP everyones red scales. How to get sued
