Filmed on my GoPro Hero 5.
I love the timing of these. Perfect for my morning coffee ☕️ in the office. Have a great weekend Michael, be safe.
Thanks! You too!
Great review, thanks for putting it out there. I have a set in my garage for my GSA, looking forward to trying them out.
You’ll like them. They are a good tire.
Love the comparisons and the scoring! When you do begin mixing it up... the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tire up front and the Motoz RallZ tire in the rear is an AMAZING combo! Love this vid... Keep it up! - Kyle
Thanks man! Maybe I’ll try that;)
I like how your wore your gloves while filling out the review scorecard. Safety first! ;-)
You know it! 😊
Omg the head shake! I’ve been wondering what the hell is going on. After going through the bike I assumed it had to be the tires. Thank you for confirming my suspicions. 👏👏👏
Love your videos dude. I check youtube every day for a new one. Im gonna get one of those bikes soon!
Hunter Howe, this Honda cb500x is really cool. I was tossed up between the honda and a bmw g310gs. Worth a look if you like to trail ride with a lighter bike.
Thank you!
I'll get it for my GSA 1250.. Just one thing that I kinda didn't like at this review. About rear tire at wet pavement, you were so specific for the wheelie... I know that traction is important for wheelies, but for normal riding and cornering is totally different. I don't do wheelies and it's not important for me. So I missed a review about normal riding and cornering in wet conditions for this tires in wet condition. Thanks!
Thank you for the review! There are so many variables when it comes to wet services. I have had my shadow phantom slide out from under me while riding straight at 10 miles an hour on a well maintained blacktop road. No visible oil or loose gravel. I didn't even know that was possible! P.S. I noticed that you have a habit of continually pressing the reset on the turn signal button. If we took a drink for every time you pressed it all of us would be dead from alcohol poisoning. :) Thanks for the videos!
Ha ha. Thanks. Ya that’s one of my habits 😎
Oregon Motorcycle Don’t worry, I do the same thing because I don’t want to be that guy going down the road with his turn signal still on for miles.
I do the same too 🤣
Good review! Did you end up mixing tires (stock on rear + TMM on front) after this?
Have you tried the Continental Conti Escape tires yet?
I mix my tyres up all the time now , my next front will be the Mission & rear not sure 🤔 yet ?
Btw I’ve had zero problems with my OEM Dunlops so will either go for the same again or grab a pair of these new ones when the time comes. 👍 stay safe
I’m actually thinking a stock Dunlop on the back with the trailmax up front might be a good mix...
Thanks for the review. I'm currently running the Anakee Adventures F&R. I don't care for the front, so maybe replace it with the TMM. Might be my new combination. The AA rear is a great tire on road, off road, wet or dry.
Sweet. I might check those out next.
I'm thinking about running this combo also. AA on rear and TMM on front. Seems like it would be the best of both worlds. My only concern is mixing a bias ply with radial ply. Please update us if you have tried this.
Thank you Sir, I have mine on my GS1250 Saturday 👍
Nice! Hope you like them.
Very good, well balanced review. You sure are putting the miles in on the CBX👍
Thank you. Ya the miles are racking up. 8k service coming up next week.
If you 70% more to trail ride then I recommend the Bridgestone A41 else stick to 60/40 road/trail
Great video!
Sir,If u planning to change those exhaust then consider Moriwaki centre pipe and end can with a bit of ecu tuning..Feel great between 4500-6000rpm
Nice! No plans for that yet. ;)
Did you try different pressures for the rear to see if that helped with wet traction?
I think my next tires will be : Continental TKC 70 for front & TKC 70 Rocks for rear.
Def take reviews as per the bike. On my Versys 650 the shinkos have far and out preformed my stock dunlop tires in every category but those tires were not suited well for that bike. Might give the Dunlop trails a go after I run this set.
I agree the Shinko is WAY dangerous in the wet ( I had an off last weekend due to the crap Shinko
Do you find them to slow down the bike at all? They are very heavy tyres on the CB500X
Not really. Might be a lil harder to wheely. You can feel them on the deceleration though.
How doe the bike feel on corners now with the drop to 150 ? I was always told not to go narrower on rear but ok to go a size wider if needed. Any reason why you didn’t go for 170 instead? Very interested to hear your thoughts please.
Most go with the 150 on this bike. The bike turns/drops easier with the 150. It becomes more flickable. Putting the larger front makes it feel more stable up front. I like the way it feels. If you go with a larger 170 out back the bike will be harder to turn or drop into a turn.
Oregon Motorcycle thanks. Yeah I just got a reply in the fb group making me rethink the 170 option. Thanks a lot man.
interesting vid. Have you changed your suspension settings at all. your thoughts on the front end nose dive when braking? RE- last vid & carrying a chainsaw... remember you are an American.. go for the c4. lol.
Ha ha. Go MERICA ❗️🤣. I increased the front preload a 1/4 turn.
Did you ever try the simple experiment of putting 5 lbs more pressure in a tire for use on wet streets?
Interesting? Owners manual for this bike states 29 psi on front & 41 psi on rear. Don't really get that. I run Pirelli Gt Angel 2's ( mainly highway paved routes, some dirt) & here in Australia run at 36 psi rear & 34 psi front, in all conditions. Like to hear your thoughts.
@@malcaithness9889 - For a flexible container like a balloon, the bottom contact patch flattens until its area x internal air pressure equals the load it supports.
For a pneumatic tire, the situation is similar, but with complications of sidewall stiffness, tread - and for a rolling tire, hysteresis of the rubber compound.
Qualitatively, though, you can assume the contact patch needs less surface area to support a given weight when the internal pressure is higher, and that
will translate also to a narrower contact patch, i.e. one that cuts through and pushes aside water more easily.
In the case of Honda's advice, the higher pressure in the rear tire (41 vs. 29), which results in a smaller rear contact patch, would also counter the rear tire's
greater width (160 vs 110) and may be an attempt to make the rear tire less likely to aquaplane/break free on wet pavement due to engine and/or braking forces.
Of course, the specific values of optimal pressure vary with tire size, construction, and rubber compound, but the general principle of higher pressure to reduce
the area of the contact patch and thereby enable it to push through a film of water on pavement still holds.
I’m over here in Nampa, ID. Are you happy with that Honda 500 ?
Extremely happy 😊
I wanna tag along one day! I'm still a fairly new rider, so maybe in a few months or so? I know I can't keep up with you guys though, especially on my R3! So I'll just cruise at my own pace 😁
Sweet. Whenever you feel comfortable come join in;)
Great review Thanks
Sure it's not the extra weight of the trailmax mission that is ruining your wheelie fun in the wet? I've seen a couple of reviews thus far of people popping wheelies in the wet with these tires, but with duke 1190 and 1250 gs. They are probably the heaviest adventure tire you can buy. Just wondering because the main reason I am interested i these tires is because of their (so far xD) great wet performance. Great video tho!
Could be. The rear tire is not good for wet pavement. I also feel I slide around a lil bit more because of less weight. Bike weighs 420 and I only weight 160ish. I run lower pressure to try and help. Here watch this. ruclips.net/video/3qaUd4-6Aik/видео.html
what do you keep jabbing with your left thumb?

@@OregunAdventure I miss the self cancel of my 800gs. I've been trying to only use hand signals in the city. On my 790 adventure I've found myself riding with a signal on.
I need to get some for my NC700x
These tires don't come in a 17 inch front.
Good review!
Thank you.
What's your thoughts on the owner's manual p.s.i.'s?
Might be a good starting point. Everyone is different so one pressure doesn’t fit all. I like 30/30 or a lil less in the front.
@@OregunAdventure Thanks mate. 41 rear & 29 front seems pretty extreme. Running my Pirelli GT Angel 2's, after experimenting, now 38 rear & 36 front. Minor off pavement use tho & love these boots.👍 for the reply, have been confused about those specs since day 1.
@@OregunAdventure - Did you try increasing the pressure in the rear tire for better adhesion on wet pavement?
The rear tire seems not to perform as well as the front for your settings.
How about the Michelin Road 5?
I’ve heard those are awesome on wet pavement, pretty much the best. They just wouldn’t be the best choice for off-road.
In wich city do you live?
Oregon City.
I think your turn signals are off 😋
😊
Wheelie isn't the tire its the bike🤣
Don't even think about commenting on other peoples driving, you ride with main beam on !!!!
🤣
