This is brilliant! You lost me at:"...then you can pick off the cluster", but I watched the video through anyway, lost in respect and admiration. I think I know what my little garage would say if I asked them to try this (they changed the cluster on our Toyota Previa this morning - which is why I am here). Best wishes from the UK.
Thanks to your video I was able to successfully replace my 2003 toyota sienna instrument cluster with the correct milage and add the rpm gauge I just tranfer the chip to the new one.
@@jjpalau There is a known bug with the left turn signal if you switch from a pre-facelift to post-facelift cluster (or vice-versa). But otherwise mine has worked fine.
wow, I thought I would have a hard time looking for this information - you've probably heard that the corollas and matrix from 03-08 have the issue of odometer stopping at 299,999 km/mi. I've bought a new cluster from Toyota and was surprised it was pretty cheap overall but it has 0km on it rather than the km that I gave them - was kinda hoping it would be set to 300,000km really. Anyway, I'm thinking of setting it to 300,000km and see if it would make it function as it should - after that I'll try setting it at various x99,999km and see if it works. Nice to see some guidance here, was hoping this would be a good practice but hey, makes things faster I guess...
Sir you are pure genius, I wish you were my neighbor, have you ever worked on any 2012 - 2016 Subaru Impreza cluster the information is stored on one of those chips thingy too?
If i just swap that speedometer/odometer to a replacement, everhthing else will work as normal? Like the alarm system and other electronic systems? My 2015 camry le turn signals/emergency lights wont turn on and was told need to replace the cluster
I live in Canada, I bought a 2008 American Chevrolet Colorado , have replaced the instrument cluster with a Canadian one thinking that everything would change to kilometres , the gauges worked but the odometer did not work, is there a chip to be replaced? and if there is where can I get it ? how would you resolve this problem? thank you
Very informative information thank you very much. But I had a cluster go bad & I bought 1 from a junk car & now I have warning lights on that don't exist in my vehicle. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Great video, did you make any specific adjustments to make the tachometer, fuel and temperature gauges work, since now they’re in different sections of the cluster, or does the car automatically know how where to send the info?
Is it possible to take off the needle and gauge face of the speedometer assembly and swap the face from a new gauge onto the old one’s electronics as a way to make the odometer match? Or is the needle attached/connected to what makes it move in a way that would make that too complicated.
Can you do a video to show how to stop the odometer counting up but still keep the speedo gauge working? Handy for farm vehicles in countries where they charge a road user tax based on odometer reading
I have got this working rudimentary by grounding the data in pin on the eeprom through a switch. When I start the vehicle with switch on the speed still works but the odometer does not
I was wondering will get in trouble with the DMV or the inspection office once I switch my cluster on my 05 f150 because I had to buy a new mother it has 150k miles and my odometer on the original cluster says 227k miles but I got this engine with only 150k miles and I found a cluster from a junk yard reading 150k miles but idk when I do oil change at a 10 minute oil change place if they or the inspection office including the DMV will say why is the mileages less from the last time you had inspection and they probably won't give me my plates since I'm from Texas any advice or should I just leave the original cluster that has 227k miles with a new engine that marks 150k miles
I'am after swap in my car and now my rev limiter is higher. And now if I have my old cluster in my car with KM/H and I have bought cluster with MP/H ( This version have proper rev limit ) Could I just exchange this 93C46Cb3 part from my old cluster to the new which one have MP/H ?? In that case the ODO will show my oryginal value in KM and after drive it will be adding new values in KM or MIles ?
Hey brother do you know if 91 mr2's and 93 electro mr2's if the chips are the same? I want to keep my miles accurate but am going from a 91 to a 93 guage cluster.
I have an '01 Chevy Monte Carlo SS. How do I know which chip to swap? There are multiple chips and I don't want to mess with the wrong one by mistake. Please help.
after watching this i decided to sell my car and buy a new one
Lmfao

He is natural born insane genius.
short for - Engineer.
I think a Corolla is a waste of his time.
What was supposed to be a quick cluster replacement tutorial, turns into advanced electronics/ pc board repair class? 😵💫
Thats too much, I’m not even going to try but let me tell you, you are a genius man.
There's another easier way of doing it that let's you skip all of that. No computer needed just a Philips head screwdriver and some patience.
i like the dirty Green Toothbrush :D
Hehe the dirty teach-brush strikes again
Thanks dude
Can you do a separate video on the PC setup and the 6 wires that connect to your serial port.
This is exactly what I needed! Thanks! I think I'll just swap the whole speedo module over, that programming is over my head XD
That can work too
Did everything work after you just swapped the speedometer? Everything as in car alarm and other electrical systems.

Your way is way more harder than the real repair. Even the one who invented the cluster will not understand you. You have your own world my friend.
You are hell smart Dude..!! Congrats 👍🏻
Thanks
Bro, amazing crash course!
Nice and fast tutorial, with all the information one would need.
Thanks!
Hey thanks for the great video thou..Can we program it using the USB eeprom module that we get online? Reply appreciated.
Awesome video. Thank you speedkar 100.

Yeah
Nice explanation.

Ever do this with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra?

can a ECU and the Instrument cluster be reprogramed to let a vehicle that didn't have cruise to have cruise?
Beyond my DIY capabilities, but great video though.

Just curious, but why not just swap the EEPROMs instead?
I think he said you could just do that but showed how to program one
Why not just swap over the EPROMs?
Excellent tutorial though 👍

Google the chips you see on the board until you get one that's an eeprom
Wouldnt it have been easy to take the 8 pin serial chip from the old speedo and put it in the new speed
He said that yes, but if you're switching from kilometres to miles then you need to reprogram it. He was nice enough to show that.
do you have PC port for Mercedes w203 Odometter !?
Would this work on a 2012 dodge charger?
why didn't you swap that chip ????
There’s no screws on back of mine ! Help
This is insane. Has anybody figured out easier way to do this yet? Lol... nice job but damn I ain't even gonna try.

What happen if u dont reprogram it
Wish my F250 speedo came out like that 😅
Why, is it full of cables?
2:43 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Wouldn’t be easier to swap the chip from the old cluster to the new cluster? Then you wouldn’t need to reprogram anything
Yes that works but not if you are going from miles to km
Will not programming cause sercuity issues
ok i’m not doing this
How to commit fraud 101 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same Mercedes s430
I just have one question. What???
why cant i just swap the chips?
will have wrong milage
Wow 😳
Allready subscribe..can u make video how to change meter backlight to daylight without on beam light
Or just go to the local automotive store and buy an add-on tachometer
Kinda pointless. The Vin in the cluster and vehicle wont match. The BCM and Cluster store vin and milage separately.
This seems like way too much if you dont know what your doing
Shit me i love you
