There’s one I remember playing for PC back in the early 2000s ‘Tom Clancy’s SSN.’ You take command of the Los Angeles class sub USS Cheyenne and protect US and NATO forces from Chinese attacks centered around the Spratley Islands.
Silent Service, Hunt for Red October , 688 Attack Sub (Demo version), Silent Steel and Silent Hunter 4 are the simulation games I've played. I still own Silent Hunter 4 too. Silent Service on the NES needed two controllers. I used to take the game to my stepbrothers house when he was little and we'd take turns with one of us being the captain and the other giving orders.
The evolution of submarine games since 1972. If there are any games missing from this list, don't hesitate to mention them in comments. Enjoy
The only game I can see that's missing is Tigershark circa 1996 for PS1

Although not a standalone game, Final Fantasy VII included a mini-game featuring submarines.
I had both “Wolfpack” and “Silent Service II” back in the day as well as “Cold Waters” a few years later. Great fun!
4:42 of course this list included In The Hunt, an underrated technical and visual masterpiece.
Also missing: Harpoon '97, Harpoon 2, Harpoon 3

Missing Fast Attack (1995 or 96) 😮
Some of these look like they may have inspired the submarine level in Super Mario Land.
The TV commercial for Sub Rebellion AKA underwater unit, is hilarious😂. It's in my top five PS2 games.
Missing Subnautica, one of the most beautiful
Missing: Das Boot, Amiga
Critical Depth release in 1997 for PSone was created by the same developers of Twisted Metal. It's Twisted Metal with submarines.
No Subnautica? Or did I miss it?
If Archimedian dynasty was included - why not Aquanox 1 & 2? Also missing - Fast Attack! from Sierra in 1995.
Another idea for evolving games - Indiana Jones?
