I'm surprised at how low LSV is picking lands these last couple of drafts, it used to be he'd pick duals a lot higher, and his mana bases have really suffered for it. is this an artifact of team drafting, but i don't know if the lsv of a year ago would have passed trop and bayou .
His mana dorks helped fix and he only really went two-colors here.
I've been thinking this for a while as well. I miss the LSV that would care about "being able to cast his spells". And then the constant "I could use some lands" mid pack 3 these last few weeks, usually after passing a bunch of them. Sorry, you dug your own grave there Luis.
I think a part of the logic might be that there are more lands (including fetchable lands) than there used to be e.g. triomes. So it feels like you can get lands later, even though they aren't as good as the original duals.
I could see that it might have gone too far the other way though and lands are not valued as highly as they should be at the moment.
It wasn't that he "went" 2-colors. He was forced to cut strong black cards because he didn't have the mana to support them.
It was really hard to watch premium duals go by in order to take our 26th and 27th playables.

One of the older German magic sites used to do that. No preview, and they'd also always have the videos be 2 hours, so you can't see how well they do/how fast it goes. I much prefer that to the thumbnails. Where's the fun in knowing exactly what to expect?
Every day I open RUclips around this time, close my eyes before it loads, tap where the newest video will be, swipe up to scroll past the title and comments, open my eyes, maximize the video.
Works like 70% of the time.
@@koalaofdoom Unfortunately, the youtube algorithm is pretty unfavorable to artificially inflating video length, so that practice has gone out of favor. I liked it too.
I feel like match 1 against Tom counted as bullying. Tapping out for big artifacts vs oops! all disenchants.
I hope LSV puts some more respect on nissa acended animist after this draft. I feel like he sleeps on that card a lot and I think its really good

great point about decent-ish 1 toughness creatures like skydiver and rec sage becoming really great when you already have skullclamp.
I'm actually surprised they haven't errata'd currency converter yet, because as-worded it actually should let you put opponents' cards into your graveyard if you steal it lol. Should say "Put a card *you* exiled with Currency Converter into your graveyard." Since there shouldn't be a way to exile opponents' cards that way.
Alternatively, they could make the card slightly more powerful to steal than what it currently is, and change the text to "Put a card exiled with Currency Converter into its owner's graveyard."
That's just in the longer background text. You can try to put that opponent card into your yard all you want, the game rules just won't do it and won't let you activate. Like how you can try and draw cards from your graveyard all you want because "brainstorm doesn't specify from where to draw", but the rules just won't let you. Unless you cheat, obviously.
Per CR, If you try to put a card you don't own in your graveyard, it goes to its owner's graveyard instead.
@@JonaxIIputting the card into the graveyard is part of the effect, not the cost. You can activate it.
My favorite thing to do on Saturday night is watch LSV build a deck with 23 slots in a 40 card deck dedicated to lands/early mana and then do a shot whenever he complains about flooding. 🍹

If this isn't a craterhoof deck then what is exactly? Only ever natural order?
I think rule 400.3 means you can use currency converter on cards you don't own, and as a replacement effect they will go to the correct graveyard, amd tou still get the bonus.
That generally applies to resolving abilities, tho. From 602.2 we can see that activating an ability if you can't pay the cost simply doesn't work, and we can't pay the cost of putting an opponents' card into our graveyard, because it just can't be put there.
A bit like that Narset/Sylvan Library interaction.

No one ever respects Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy without Basalt Monolith, even when running 7 non-land mana producers. I think I'd run it over Cobra in this deck.

@@Anusien I guess I just disagree with that logic. He had four 1cmc mana dorks, a lotus cobra, Nissa, and double mox. Hoof isn't like 10+ mana, it's 8. It's weird that Atraxa is considered castable at 7 with 4 colored pips but Craterhoof isn't at 8 and mono color (yes triple green is rough but not for this deck).

I won a local RCQ today with 27 lands esper legends and it kinda felt like I was cheating. When >10 of your lands are also relevant spells (often costing 1-2 mana) it feels like you’ve gamed the system a bit.
Some of lsv’s decks are just asking to have flooded draws…

Man I hear what you've been saying on the land grant topic for a while now, but the truth is the card is the mid af and in most cases, a useless card, let alone something you would actively pick. I hear you, I really do. The last 12 times you said it. But it just doesn't do anything. At best it's a land drop and at worst it's completely unplayable.
yeah what larger utility could there be from a free spell that fixes your colors and is a land drop you can pitch to force of vigor or endurance

Besides, it rarely does any of the shit your describing. You cut this for Llanowar elves 99% of the time. Somehow vault+key isn't good enough, but land grant+endurance is? Cmon now.
it's not competing for a slot with elves it's competing with a basic
I don’t understand - compare this to basic forest and it’s usually not close (though does depend on the deck)
