2:06:15 DAT TIMING. The donation counter rolls up to exactly 2,199,999 as the hug starts, then ticks over to the full 2.2M right as it's reciprocated. They couldn't have timed that better if they'd tried.
This run will go down as one of the greatest GDQ runs in the history of the events. TGH restored the energy of the crowd after the super metroid run, and finished the marathon with unprecedented levels of hype. I will never forget the night I stayed up to watch this happen live :)
I don't care what anyone says about the game or the fan base, if you can get people to raise millions of dollars for charity and at the end of it all have a crowd of hundreds of people cheering, "HUG THE GOAT!" Then you know you've succeeded.
Dude, TGH is so chill the whole time. I'm glad this is what they ended the marathon with and not a race. God I love this guy's sense of humor. I'm glad I discovered him before the marathon, and I was so excited to learn he'd be closing off AGDQ 2017.
This run was absolutely amazing. The runner, the crowd, the atmosphere.... everything. This was the absolute best way to end AGDQ 2017! Thank you TGH and everyone else who participated!!!
if that blew your mind, get a load of this: Nice Cream Guy is blue, and he's a rabbit. Blue Bunny. Which is a brand of ice cream. The puns just don't stop!
This was the highlight of the entirety of AGDQ 2017. Not only did this completely revive the mood after a highly inappropriate comment during Super Metroid, but the run itself became a celebration of a generous community shattering previous donation records for a Games Done Quick event. With the crowd chanting at the end, it made me feel proud to be a gamer! Major credit to TGH for being positive and upbeat, explaining his techniques, encouraging the audience to get behind him, and for flawlessly executing those punch card skips. GREAT JOB... now let's all help out the cause to top that donation total in this year's SGDQ!!!
legit cried at that Kaizen speech. This game, this speedrun, agdq, prevent cancer foundation...all of it has been awesome!!! So sad I missed this live!
I was very skeptical about how a game like Undertale could be an entertaining speedrun but I'm glad I was wrong as this was one of the most entertaining runs of the event. And it's what we needed after the awkward tension left after the Super Metroid race.
This is one of the GDQ runs I revisit every now and then. Everything about it is great! Tend to tear up a bit towards the end too. Undertale + all the love especially towards the end... no surprise there.
By the way... How many people listened to the donation by Kaizin, (Kaizun.. Really not sure how it's supposed to spelled, but..) as it seems he was supposed to be on the couch, but could not attend due to himself having been diagnosed with cancer shortly before the event.... Amazing sometimes how close to home cancer can strike, so think of all the people you know. You might not ever know, but it's very possible that at least a relative of someone you know, if not them themselves, has had to deal with cancer in some form. So never forget the work that gets done in the hopes that cancer could be completely cured. As a former cancer survivor myself, I think we all could share in that dream that cancer should no longer be such a deathly cold condition to absorb.
To this day this is still my favourite GDQ speedrun of all time. It was not only impressive, but it was also heartwarming and full of enthusiasm and positivity. Watching this live was incredible and getting to witness us hit two million dollars for cancer research was something that made me incredibly happy. Props to TGH for the incredible run, you were so fun to watch and super genuine (I loved spamming "owwww" in the chat). Thank you again to everyone who was involved, and here's to a great summer games done quick this year!
I've played through this game an embarrassing amount of times and I STILL get teared up at the end of the Asriel fight. I'm a grown ass man! Why does this affect me like this?!
great end to a great week of just the entire cast, what a great story to watch unfold. Undertale was just the best finale i've seen iin a long time for gdq, especially with the real key donations at teh ends *tears" hug that goat gdq hug it!
Man I really liked this run. I haven't seen a GDQ this hype since the one where they reached 1 million for the first time while playing Chrono Trigger.
I loved everything about this run. The guy was so upbeat and funny I like how everyone cheered anytime Tori did her hand attack The sarcasm and joking of the puzzles in Snowdin, and the skit with the papyrus fight. The INSANE Punch Card trick, which is awesome. How he glitched through huge portions of the game...truly amazing. His damage boosting through the soul modes, and his crazy dodging skills in that fight. OOOOOOOWWWWWWW UUUUUURRRRUUUUUUU #Hugthegoat The whole sans fight AGDQ, you guys are awesome.
Thank you very much guys for this amazing agdq event , unfortunately I couldt watch the runs live because of timing difference , but it was really fun and memorable specially dram world run and this outstanding undertale show. waiting for you next summer
What a great ending to AGDQ 2017. Took me a while to actually see this video since I was working that night, but I'm so glad I watched. Positivity and DETERMINATION all around.
What an amazing run. Watching the game was amazing. The runner was amazing. The viewers and staff were amazing. This was a blast to watch and I have never felt this emotional because of a game. The final minutes of the run really got to me. Great job everyone. You are amazing.
This was so great, man. Didn't expect too much from it being a speedrun and all, thought it'd be a fun little thing to watch, but somehow so much of the emotion was still there, especially at the end. And props to him for having such a clean Sans fight live knowing it was the finale and a huge donation incentive. Also #HUGTHEGOAT
Really glad the Sans fight got showcased. I didn't get to see this run live, but I donated towards the fight just because I love the boss theme so much.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the gooooooaaaal scream! I fell asleep during the Metroid race (not because it was boring but because it was around 3am for me) and that scream woke me up. I would've kicked myself if I missed this run and the big finale!
I just want to congratulate EVERYONE, from the people involved in the creation of this AWESOME charity event, to the runners and the people who donate. Ive never had the chance to donate but i watch every single one of the youtube videos, ill try and be part of this awesome community by donating next time. Watching all the hype and excitement in everyone for reaching a GOAL that will help others really shows that people willingly to do something dont have to be millionaires, just simple people, doing simple things like giving their time for raising money CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN and keep this amazing work you all do.
This run was incredibly emotional to me. Undertale helped pull me away from an incredibly dark and self harming place, with it's message of hope, forgiveness and kindness, and seeing such an incredible runner and the generosity of so many touched my heart. I'm so glad to be apart of this community.
Something about watching Sans fall asleep feels just right. After everyone's hard work here, it's time for a well deserved rest. Thank you for another incredible week, Games Done Quick. See you in the summer, and thank you for your hard work!
Man what an ending. The 'hug that goat' chant went strong for way longer than I thought it would then the crowd going crazy with the hug and getting to 2.2 millions at the same time? And then TGH's speech and then the donation. BibleThum'ing hard.
Honestly, the speed-running community is so underrated. It's a shame that none of these GDQ events have never gained any news coverage. I wish instead of covering silly nonsense that they'd give coverage to one of the GDQ events - they've gained millions and thousands of dollars for PCF and DWB; that's outstanding and honestly remarkable. Whether or not the news coverage is wanted, they deserve it for sure. Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this.
btw there's a Gaster follower at 1:16:38 ! It's kinda rare (1/100 chance this one appears when the fun value is 62 out of the 100 possible values it can be) It's cool that it appeared in the run!
what an amazing run. I was a little confused when I heard that undertale was the closing game, but it was really well done. but tgh seriously made the run way better than the sum of its parts.
41:36 Literally the biggest moment of my life lmao
2:06:15 DAT TIMING. The donation counter rolls up to exactly 2,199,999 as the hug starts, then ticks over to the full 2.2M right as it's reciprocated. They couldn't have timed that better if they'd tried.

The hug happening right as the counter rolled up to 2.2 million is the best thing to happen at a GDQ since Wondershot
SoupwithSeafood i was expecting him to ignore asriel since it's the shorter cutscene
It was a donation incentive
I don't care what anyone says about the game or the fan base, if you can get people to raise millions of dollars for charity and at the end of it all have a crowd of hundreds of people cheering, "HUG THE GOAT!" Then you know you've succeeded.
2:17:40
"I believe you just wanna concentrate on this fight?"
"Yep"
*entire crown begins to be as loud as possible raving to MEGALOVANIA*
Aidon Mikmern still proceeds to be absolutely amazing
Dude, TGH is so chill the whole time. I'm glad this is what they ended the marathon with and not a race. God I love this guy's sense of humor. I'm glad I discovered him before the marathon, and I was so excited to learn he'd be closing off AGDQ 2017.
48:54 "Alright, a little bit of inventory management with this box" **Fingers travel at light speed**

Omega Flowey confirmed to be a Tool Assisted Speedrunner
Ayyyy it's the guy who does the TAS fights, love your videos.
DyllonStej Gaming holy shit that's a great idea
"That's a wonderful idea!"
Are you trying to tell me
TASbot

a FLOWER?
DyllonStej Gaming what time is the squalala we are off at thanks
This run was absolutely amazing. The runner, the crowd, the atmosphere.... everything. This was the absolute best way to end AGDQ 2017! Thank you TGH and everyone else who participated!!!
oh my god. refused. RE-FUSED. WHAT
if that blew your mind, get a load of this: Nice Cream Guy is blue, and he's a rabbit. Blue Bunny. Which is a brand of ice cream. The puns just don't stop!
+GravitySloth Shit man, I didn't even know that one...
ha, didnt realize that blue bunny pun
shottysteve omg I just got it

what was the comment tho?
You mean the highly appropriate comment

TCH was the hero we needed. Thank you
Aludra Kijurorin yeah TCH is my favourite minecraft speedrunner
This is one of the GDQ runs I revisit every now and then. Everything about it is great! Tend to tear up a bit towards the end too. Undertale + all the love especially towards the end... no surprise there.
hopes and dreams... all the memories come flooding back. Thank you undertale. Even a year later, you pull tears from me. nice work!
By the way... How many people listened to the donation by Kaizin, (Kaizun.. he got no hits on the credits, then barely gets nicked on genocide boss. I was so sad
1:58:19
This was the part of this run I'll always remember, in which everyone one is silent and the runner's like, "Feel free to make some noise!"
Also, 2:06:14
Them reaching 2.2mil as they get to the hug, amazing...
Don't remind me of that asshole
Tearonex TGH is a great dude and thank god he ended the event with undertale
Samuel Martinez o
one of the best GDQ runs of all time, and not a dry eye in the house at the end of that pacifist run. What a fantastic show by a fantastic runner.
I love how they did everything right for a week and then screwed up in the final 5 minutes. Classic.
As the chat said, "RESET THE EVENT!"
Alex W there were actually numerous issues with the audio throughout the event. The last 5 minutes was a hilariously unfortunate recap of those issues
To this day this is still my favourite GDQ speedrun of all time. It was not only impressive, but it was also heartwarming and full of enthusiasm and positivity. That "HUG THE GOAT" chant lasted forever jesus christ
Man I really liked this run. I haven't seen a GDQ this hype since the one where they reached 1 million for the first time while playing Chrono Trigger.
This run is probably one of the best that I've seen from an AGDQ. Can't wait to see more in the future!
1:16:38 Weird Gaster follower.
Nice catch
I'm sure TGH stands for The Goat Hug.
Does TGH mean The Goat Hugger?
lonewolf0909 According to his Twitter it means ''teh.guitar heroe''
also according to him it means "anything you want it to"
I loved this audience! Proudest moment of my life was watching the donations reach 2 MILLION! WE DID IT BOYS! HYYYYYYYYYYPE!!!!!!!
agdq this year was awesome cant wait for sgdq
*insert Sans is Ness comments or Game Theory memes here*
The Pope won't appreciate that.
Espurr Roba GAME THEORY What if THE SIMPSONS was in UNDERTALE
Game Theory: Does Homer is Papyrus?
The rumor come out: Does Homer is Papyrus?
not really a meme, but consider this... HIS FUN VALUE GOT A G FOLLOWER AND I GOT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! :/ I'm jealous...
I loved everything about this run.
The guy was so upbeat and funny
I like how everyone cheered anytime Tori did her hand attack
The sarcasm and joking of the puzzles in Snowdin, and the skit with the papyrus fight.
The INSANE Punch Card trick, which is awesome.
How he glitched through huge portions of the game...truly amazing.
His damage boosting through the soul modes, and his crazy dodging skills in that fight.
OOOOOOOWWWWWWW
UUUUUURRRRUUUUUUU
#Hugthegoat
The whole sans fight
AGDQ, you guys are awesome.
Thank you very much guys for this amazing agdq event , unfortunately I couldt watch the runs live because of timing difference , but it was really fun and memorable specially dram world run and this outstanding undertale show.
waiting for you next summer
It always makes me so sad at the end of every GDQ event and saying goodbye to chat :( FeelsBadMan
That final group hug.
one of the most legendary moment/speedrun on GDQ history.
2:13:37
Special tanks to Toby Fox !
From ...
Toby Fox
LOL
Firengel that's really... PUNNY!!
Well, he deserved it for this game.
not to mention the humor of this game is INSANE.
i love that he hugs the goat right at 2.2 million
What a great ending to AGDQ 2017. Took me a while to actually see this video since I was working that night, but I'm so glad I watched. Positivity and DETERMINATION all around.

i woke up on the last second of this, and i was waiting for this a long time thanks and congrats on 2,2 million dollars.
Best possible event ending you can imagine :) Great run, great crowd, epic donations.
I'm honored to have been in a Skype group with TGH a few years ago. Really glad to see how far he's come.
Awesome playthrough and the crowd was awesome as well. Hope TGH returns.
This was so great, man. Didn't expect too much from it being a speedrun and all, thought it'd be a fun little thing to watch, but somehow so much of the emotion was still there, especially at the end. I've never played or watched Undertale but I found this to be a very entertaining run.
This is one of the best AGDQ runs I have ever seen.
Really glad the Sans fight got showcased. I didn't get to see this run live, but I donated towards the fight just because I love the boss theme so much.
Anyone else notice that the same time the donation total hit $2.2 million, "the goat was hugged?"
This was the most hype finale ever. Holy crap I loved this whole thing.
been waiting for this to come up
I keep on trying to move my cursor out of the way.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the gooooooaaaal scream!
I fell asleep during the Metroid race (not because it was boring but because it was around 3am for me) and that scream woke me up. I would've kicked myself if I missed this run and the big finale!
2:05:18 HUG THE GOAT
This run was perfect, holy shit. I nearly teared up at the end when everyone was chanting.
Major respect for TGH. Very professional, entertaining and humble.
The music as you walk up to the judgement hall... T_T
Every goddamn time. so many tears.
best speedrun agdq for me now so good so entertaining so moving too actually well done
Best audience ever.
I don't care if it is a speed run you better comfort the goat
okay that is satisfactory hugging
goddamn, like... seriously, they kept that chant rolling
Agreed. I don’t care if it saves frames, not hugging the goat is literally the worst thing you can do in Undertale.
I just want to congratulate EVERYONE, from the people involved in the creation of this AWESOME charity event, to the runners and the people who donate. I'm so glad to be apart of this community.
Dude, this was awesome! I regret not watching this live ;w;
I wish there was this much enthusiam behind other runs that were actually super difficult

The guy who saved the day.
Also, HUG THAT GOAT
best run i have see yet well done TGH
I rewatched the Twitch VOD for all the feels. BibleThump like it was just yesterday.
The first time I did the true lab, it was 5:00 AM and it scared me waay more than it should've.
Haha

"I believe you just want to concentrate on this fight right TGH?"
TGH: "Yes"
*queue audience clapping loudly*
btw there's a Gaster follower at 1:16:38 ! It's kinda rare (1/100 chance this one appears when the fun value is 62 out of the 100 possible values it can be) It's cool that it appeared in the run!
1:40:33 "Don't let anyone tell you how you should or shouldn't play. That's my opinion!"
You're saying THAT about UNDERTALE?!
Ephraim225 well yes? the game is pretty open for that stuff. Just ignore people who tell you otherwise.
I finally caught another event live but I missed the finale. Glad I can see it here!
what an amazing run. I was a little confused when I heard that undertale was the closing game, but it was really well done. but tgh seriously made the run way better than the sum of its parts.
I love when they say time. I think just feels good.
Can you imagine how confused everyone who's seeing this game for the first time here are?
* The donation counter hitting 2 million...
It fills you with determination.
I love the dev on the phone, it’s so sweet how he’s so excited about it
Not only is this game my favorite, but this run was straight incredible.
didn't know of TGH before this, but I'm a fan now.
Favourite run by far. Also enjoyed a lot Elder Scrolls and Fallout 4 :D amazing event this was
Saw it live on stream and i was blown away
Fantastic finale game, and a great runner to boot!
Glad they finally decided to showcase another EarthBound Run
One of the unluckiest things I've had whilst speedrunning ut is having the grey gaster door spawn on a perfect run
"I believe you just wanna concentrate on this fight right TG?"
"Right"
*audience begins to clap in rhythmic unison*
hugging that goat and hitting $2.2 mil at the same time :o
to those who don't get it. the Refused pun.
Re-fused and Refused.
I didn't get until just now either
Amazing
Wow, a big-ish youtuber and he is quite far down.
wow what u doing here
I mean dang, hugged the goat and hit 2,2 million in sync!
1 hour and 6 mins was my score I was so happy but never again it's PAINFUL playing it over and over
Thank you TGH for saving the event!
around 500,000 dollars was donated within these 2 hours
1:16:39 HE GOT A GASTER FOLLOWER TnT So jealous
I can't think of a more charming game than Undertale.
