TRC is OG Full Brutal! His heat treatment on Bohler M390, Vanadis 4E & Elmax is untouchable. Untouchable I say! Also the Kydex sheaths are far superior to anything you’ve seen. You can’t go wrong with TRC. The knife will last forever.
That grind looks absolutely gorgeous so consistent and not something we see very often!! That light stonewashed satin is freaking lovely! I've never had a trc knife in for sharpening or ever handled one for that matter! Maybe it's time to get me a trc fixie for a camp knife!
Mike I've been missing the late night lived and it's driving me crazy! Dm me what days you normally do them and what time you start them so I can come hangout with you guys!
The smaller knives like the Classic Freedom & This Is Freedom has higher hardness 61-62HRC. While they Run their larger knives in Elmax at 59-60HRC, and the M-1SLG & M-1XDP in Vanadis 4 E at 60-61HRC (I personally would like to see the V4E blades be in the 63HRC range), But I can't complain on their heat treatment. I beaten the snot out of my old Apocalypse and Southpole, and have held up great compared to other knives in the same steel.
I own 5 of their knives and they are second to none. And you can actually get this knife rite now for under 400. And DBK has done vids where they have beaten the shit out of these blades and they keep going. Btw the appocoliptic finish they offer is killer
I can't say I've never heard of them I've sent Scab 3 or 4 of their knives a couple years ago but they are absolutely fantastic knives and this one is no different I love it also. Thanks for the review enjoyed it.
They go years back and I have several models from them. Excellent designs with flawless execution. They newer models (after when they changed the name strategy) are the most polished ones and come with the box. My favourite is probably the M1 in V4E steel which is called Mille Cuori now. The M-1SL looks nice though.
My opinion is that hardness between 60-62 is ideal. Hard enough and easy to sharpen. Bohler n690 co is my favourite type of steel. But you are absolutely right. This knife is overpriced
That’s my point if you want something at that Rockwell then pick a steel that is designed to be optimal at that Rockwell if you’re going to pay the premium for a material it should be processed to its highest possible capability.
Sorry, Mike….a massive bunch of disinformation in your review (tag price on the us market, tendency to corrosion under those g10 handles, hrc…. Trc is king in heat treatment, if you heat treat m390 higher than that, it gets way too brittle…which is one of the innate downturn of the Bohler M390)…next time, when you’re up to review a Trc, due diligence first 😉 Peace out
So I don’t know how long you followed the channel but I was custom knife maker, and I made almost all my knives in 20 CV which is an analog for M390. All of my knives were he treated to 64 Rockwell or higher and I never once had an issue with brittleness , I never had chipping, and I never had a customer complain about a broken blade. As far as removable handles they’re always a good option because regardless of what you say liquid and moisture can accumulate under that material and epoxy does absorb a level of moisture. So calling what I said disinformation, I disagree because My personal experiences are what I’m noting
So you must know there is a relationship between hrc and toughness (and often corrosion resistance) right? If you optimise hrc then you will sacrifice some toughness and likely some corrosion resistance. If you truly believe you know better than both TRC and Larrin Thomas for example - that m390 at rc64 is also optimally tough for a hard use (military type) fixed blade, then you alone must be able to heat treat 20cv (m390) to be a more balanced steel than magnacut! You do also know that 20cv(m390) is one of the absolute best stainless steels for corrosion resistance, so your point about removable handle scales is frankly moot.

Dude TRC is phenomenal quality, they make elmax magic and perfect grinds
I onw 8 knives from TRC and the knives are all has a perfect fit and finish, my favorite is the South Pole.

They do offer accessory leather sheaths for all models I believe. And their leather is perfection!

Polheim in Magnacut is superb.
Great company and elite knives that have souls.

Exactly, just optimising for edge retention makes no sense when the knife is not a small folder!

Best in the world imo - love the sob logo, great vid thanks
TRC is bad ass , want one in the apocalyptic finish
dont get apo finish - it fades away quickly
The best knife company. period.
Gotta review the Apocalypse in Elmax 🤘
Not sure how you can even be a knife chanel and not know TRC.

@@CrazySharp Exactly. Your review has been very honest
I won’t buy em because I can’t remove the scales and the hardness is absolute crazy for this material 🤷🏼♂️
These are $375 at most places.
Going off what the owner told me
😂 review of a brand that's been around for years and years...a real knife aficionado, but he knows heat treating 😂😂😂

People are weird these days.
Most would even say their thoughts to your face but everyone is a keyboard critic.
Keep up the good work 🤘
