Aah "Above The Weeping World", my first love. I think you should totally check out "Mortal Share". Probably not that exciting as far as songwriting goes for the band but it was the first song of theirs I ever heard. It had over 500 plays on my Itunes after about a month of the discovery. Hehe

Insomnium is a great band. I'm going to see them live this coming week. I don't know what they put in the water in Finland, but that place is a musical wonderland for metalheads. Wintersun, Wolfheart, Swallow the Sun, this band, they're all amazing. That's not even all the great Melodeath bands.
They're still on tour. in the US for a few more shows. They are doing a short headlining tour, supported by Oceans of Slumber. They hit Canada after that. Not sure where you're located, but it may not be too late for you.
I interviewed Niilo many, many years back and I asked him why Finland has so many melodic bands (across genres), and he answered that it probably has something to do with Finnish history in terms of being oppressed by neighboring countries, Sweden especially. It's kinda like a national feeling of theirs. I don't really know how to explain it.

Just like Antelano, this was also the first album I heard from them way back in 2006 :) My favourite songs are: In the groves of death, At the gates of sleep and The Gale + Mortal Share (I always listen to them together and count them as one). PS. I also like a lot Since the day it all came down (the album prior to this one) and my favourites are: Closing words, The day it all came down, Bereavement and Disengagement.

They're a terrific Swedish prog rock/metal band. 'Evidence' was the track I think I started on and that got me hooked onto all their other stuff.
Insomnium has been one of my favorites for a long time. Into the Woods, In the Groves of Death, Lay the Ghost to Rest and The River are some of my favorites by this band :) Definitely recommend!

I would recommend Winter's Gate, but that's like a 40min song. Sure it's divided by chapters, but similar to a book if you just read through a single chapter you'd lose a lot of the immersion. Give it a try on your own, definitely worth listening!

Amorphis, Omnium Gatherum and Children of Bodom are also great metal from Finland!
