You're right, they didn't revolutionize the genre, but somehow crafted their own unique sound in the vast landscape of melo death, which absolutely is my favorite! I've seen them live, they sounds even better!

Two song suggestions from Insomnium : Pale Morning Star or Winter's Gate. The latter one is a little on the lengthy side though.
You'll be glad to know that pretty much the whole album is of this quality. Can't think of a bad song. ATWW was their masterpiece imo
