Saw these guys in concert last week. They absolutely mastered the crowd. Just thew us around like rag dolls for about twenty songs. The folks I went to the show with weren't sure if they were going to dig it, but they were completely won over. They played the whole "Winter's Gate" album, and a bunch of tracks from this album and the prior one (including this one, which was even better live). If you get a chance, see them live. Seriously, one of the best shows I've ever seen.
That's such a great song, and Insomnium is such a great band with their way of mixing heavyness and melodies. You should check The Shadow Hunter by Angra. It's a power/progressive metal band, but they have a lot of great guitar melodies and mix of styles as well.

You should see Insomnium's live show. It blew my mind how great they are live! Saw them at Tuska 2017 and it was insane. They played insanely well and the singer is an absolute beast. For a second I was wondering whether they were doing it as playback, but no. All pure talent and excellent playing. Just amazing!
If you liked this from them, then check out "Disengagement". I guarantee you'll love it, it's on one of their first albums. Every melodic deathmetal fan has to hear that ending. BTW it's called Closing Words on spotify, they somehow messed up the two songs. Disengagement is the one that's 8:39 seconds long.

Goes without saying you should check out more Insomnium. Another suggestion would be Avatar - Reload. They were pure melodic death, but they changed their style after that album to avant gard metal or w/e. I love both eras, but the one constant is their vocalist who probably is one of the best in the game.
You should be intrigued! Their self-titled album sadly is the only real noteworthy in their "melo death" era. But I still hold it as their best. The best songs on that is by far "Reload" and "Lullaby (Death All Over)" in my not so humble opinion. If you wanna check out their new sound after that I strongly suggest "Let It Burn" (killer live version out there as well, should be top search on YT), "Paint Me Red", "Bloody Angel" and "The Eagle Has Landed".

Singer and guitarist of this band are actually teaching music in music school which is cool.
