I'll only be upgrading the links and that's only because one of mine broke on the first drive, first tumble. Otherwise, I've moved a bunch of stuff underneath the hood, put the battery on top the of motor using the rear chassis brace and it's already a vast improvement. I've learned with the scx24's that too much weight kills it and I'm sure this will be the same.
I Modded it all out with all upgrades. Save your money just get some Wheels and Tires. I own two and compared to stock. To much weight ruins it and makes it flip forward downhill. Place a 450 Battery on top of the Trans and remove the mount for the battery and skid plates. I filled the Shocks with oil and put Red Aluminum housings. Car bounces way more compared to stock. KEEP it stock! Save your money
I do agree that with this newest crop of crawlers being released - they are really good out of the box, and perhaps some of the "old-tricks" for performance aren't as impactful as they once were.
@@nxprss8326 Treal Brass Rims and JCocepts Megalithic tires or Treal Tires. Very Sticky I have run Both. Megalithic tires are a little smaller than Stock in Diameter. Treal Trail Burner's are perfect fit sticky and cheap.
Redcat’s brass parts are expensive, the brass portal covers are $70 think the brass diff covers are $20. Hoping Injora jumps in & starts making parts for it.
@@RoadsideRCnot to knock redact but Axial and Traxxas have something of a name to stand on for the cost of their stuff. The price is still absurd though, don’t get me wrong. I’m thinking brass wheels for now and injora trx4m links as a stopgap.
Just wanted to say thanks again. I bought two of these last week😂
Awesome! Hope you enjoy them!

Males sense to me!
Same here, snapped a link 2nd run. I'm going with redcat aluminum links all around
Looking great can't wait to see it on the course I know that it will be awesome
Yes! I need to get it over to Cookeville Hobbies and Big Buddha's!

Just got mine the other day, what wheel and tire combo do you recommend?? Thanks.

I just got aluminum front and rear links plastic ones break to easy and upgraded tires
I was impressed in a few other videos of how just upgraded tires and wheels made a huge difference.
Dam gots to get one to match my 10th scale
I snapped a front link yesterday
Glad they offer the upgrades!
What was that tool to remove the lower shock cap from the ball screw?
Just a random drone propeller remover I had laying around.
Im having a hard time getting the shocks disconnected to access the screw on the lower links. Where did you get that tool that popped it right off?
That tool is a drone propeller remover - like this one:

@RoadsideRC Awesome, thanks
How long does redcat plan on running the $100 deal on this truck? Definitely going to grab one in the next few days
The official announcement says the promo is good before May 1st...but I do wonder if they will alter that with how popular it has been.

I compared the Redcat prices vs Traxxas and got roughly the same result.
Yes - I do expect a 3rd party will be cheaper.

😅I ran mine in a comp Sunday with brass wheels and different tires it did decent
Only thing I'm going to change is shock bodies and a way to munt battery better
Dang wish I had one of those tools to get the shock off with. Kind of hard to get it off feel like I’m going to break it
100%!!
Be very careful, it is very easy to break.
Maybe use some pliers or a small wrench?
@ thank you for the response I was able to gently get them off but wow 😮
How did it do on the plywood ramp at 50° after these upgrades?
I didn't get a chance to test it!
More to come - stay tuned.
What’s the purpose for a 1/18 scale?
To have fun, just like any RC! :)
For me personally, I use this scale more indoors. But some folks use them everywhere!
If you decide to come to fall creek falls hit me up ill show you some spots
Thanks!
Is there an event coming up?
The parts are kind of expensive add up the parts and check it out
When I compare the prices of the Ascent upgrades vs the TRX-4M upgrades - they seem fairly similar.
Servos are over 40 bucks.
