In the northern Netherlands people say patatje, in the southern Netherlands we say friet.
Learning the language of the country you live in, is a sign of respect. It shows us you really are interested in our country and our people so it's very appreciated.
Just a matter of being polite to your host country I would say.
Good for you to make the effort! Succes with your studies and good luck

Learn quick - there used to be something called the "Delft Method" that was targeted at foreign students entering Delft University. Very pragmatic and fast. It may have a recent evolution. If you can go to such classes, that would help. Considering teacher Myra, she could try to build a course for you with her. Here, you could try to mimic the way we learn our mother-tongue. This starts before birth when we learn a language's sentence-melody structures and this is reflected in the crying spurts produced by babies. No you don't have to go back into that place, but listen a lot.
This is followed, in life, by mothers answering questions like, what's this? Maybe start with a Hindi toddler's book and translate the words and idiom into Dutch, thus bridging to the deepest memories. The next phase for native Dutch learners is to learn the exceptions in grammar and idiom, build the vocabulary. You could try to borrow primary school books or methods here. So, now we have a pragmatic academic approach and a pragmatic biological approach. In both cases, you need time to learn - mastering almost anything needs 10,000 hours for more complex tasks or 10,000 repetitions for more simple things and until 9,950 hours/times people are not predictable. Part of the learning process of a foreign language are grammar and word order and you already invested into that with Spanish and English. You'll have noticed that learning a foreign language often is complicated by insufficient knowledge of the grammar of one's own language and you have had that experience already too.
That means, part of the 10,000 hours already have been spent there. And the 10,000 also means that you have to accept making mistakes, if you want to master something.
As to Hindi-Dutch, note that our languages may share a common ancestor and this may be noticeable still in Sanskrit (Hindi's parent language?). So, if it helps you to learn Dutch words by having a story with them, you might want to buy an "Etymologisch Woordenboek". If word-evolution histories go back to the common ancestor, Sanskrit will be mentioned in the discussion of a word's origin in that dictionary. But in many cases it may just say that a word first appeared (in print or writing) in some year long time ago. To the old Roman language scholars of some 2,000 years ago, the Germanic languages sounded like an ancient form of Persian, by the way.
If you want to learn Dutch by immersion, which is the path you are on, then I would say that your first priority is to get rid of your foreign accent. As long as people sense you are foreign, through your accent, they may start to speak English with you. To prevent that from happening, holding them at gunpoint - if you speak English to me, I'll pull the trigger - is probably not a strong enough threat. If you could go to a "logopedist" (speech tutor) for a couple sessions, they might be able to help you pronounce vowels and phonemes the right way so as to get rid of the accent (find one that has taught pronunciation to people born completely deaf as these can help you learn how to form the sounds, if necessary).

Hartstikke goed! It is very hard to take the hurdle and go out and do it! My ex-wife is Australian and your experience reminds me so much of the time (in Delft) when she was learning Dutch. As a first step she also went to the market and ordered some food. At the vegetable stall all went well untill he said: Heeft u voor mij één knoopsgat?” in a very heavy English accent. The woman on the other side looked puzzled and asked in English what she meant, but before I could step in, my then girlfriend corrected herself. We had a good laugh! Knoopsgat was a few words under knoflook in the rows she learned a couple of days before.
Good luck and as an old Dutch expression says: Ga zo door en gij zult spinazie eten!

Dutch, German and English are all part of the West Germanic language family and so share a lot, though Dutch and German are much closer to each other- zinbauw, woordenschap enz. and Dutch grammar is waaaaay easier than German grammar. My problem was that I started learning German first, and when I visited Rotterdam I spoke Dutch with a heavy German accent. So when people gave up they switched to German- which was Ok. "Ich kann Sie verstehen, aber ich komme aus Amerika." "Neeeee, Amerika????" Yeah, then to English with my definite New York City accent. So, I struggle, mostly with uitspraak. My on-line teacher says, "Ik wil de "K" duidelijk te horen" So iKKKK- I tend also to do the "ik" a bit softer as the German "ich"....and hey, how you doin with the "sch" and separable verbs? At least, because of German I understand the separable verb thing. That took me about six years to start feeling comfortable with it in German. Since I have been climbing that ladder in German, and the Dutch separable verbs are very similar, I was almost there right from the get-go.
Een reis voor mij in de volgende week naar Munchen- ik kun mijn duits eindelijk echt uitproberen. Een bezoek naar het nederlands komt gauw...of beter....binnenkort....ugh.
