He changed Australian cricket forever... ponting, Clarke, Cummins just following his legacy... but Steve is God father

Ponting followed Steve's legacy, Clarke changed the culture of the team for the worse and destroyed this legacy, turned the greatest team of all time into a mere good team.

Everyone remember and give credit to Ricky Ponting for the invincibility of Australia and making Australia mighty, And Ponting deserves all the praise, But it was Steve Waugh who laid the foundation of the invincible Australia which would dominate cricket later on, A serious match winner who mentored and nurtured players like Ricky Ponting, Damien Martyn, Michael Bevan etc. And it was in 1999 that Australia's fortune changed forever under his captaincy.

Alan Border was the Captain that set it all up. All the Captains after him followed his style.

@@BatMan-oe2gh Border did win the World Cup for Australia but Waugh made Australia invincible by bringing in young talent like Ricky Ponting, Backing Damien Martyn and Matthew Hayden and enabling their comeback in the team. And then even bringing back McGrath as the opening bowler hence creating a formidable team in the late 90s.

Yes, it was Border that turned it all around after the big three left in Lillee, Greg Chappell and Marsh. To me the turning point was the 1989 Ashes series in England. That was the tour Steve Waugh scored his first hundreds. I remember Australia being 4 for 600 with the top four all making 100s except for Mark Waugh that scored 99. Steve Waugh's first two hundreds were 177 and 152 both not out in consecutive innings.

Btw Waugh said something similar to Dada when he dropped his catch during the Border Gavaskar trophy 2001. I think he said something like ' you've dropped the test there' or something like that
But then he was out after a few overs and Dravid came up to him and asked who dropped the test now
That series was one of the best test series especially the test in Kolkata as this series paved the rise of Indias aggressive attitude under Ganguly
On that note can you please make a video on Sourav Ganguly

He was the greatest ever player, cricketer and captain. Steve Waugh was the greatest captain. That turn around in 99 was amazing, maestro Tugga in the Semi’s for sure.
I am a Ponting fan, who is the greatest in terms of WC wins. But everyone knew, the decisions that Steve took and his calmness/attention to talent would make him the greatest ever. I only wish Steve Waugh/Ricky Ponting or Glenn McGrath were allowed to become the CEO of Cricket Australia at least once in our lifetime TBH

@@officialsportica No shade, whatsoever, but it helps to get the players name pronounced correctly. It's interesting you pronounced Tugga as tooga until you put it together with Tugga Waugh. But overall, a really good video and of such an iconic moment in World Cup history. I remember both those incidents very well, the dropped catch of course but then the absolute mayhem of the last few balls. If I recall correctly, South Africa still had 1 or 2 balls left and threw the game with that run out top force a draw, which gave Australia the entry into the final.

Pleaaaaaase try get the surnames pronunciations semi correct. Ive never heard anyone pronounce his name even close to that. Its been the same with a few other players aswell. absolutely loving the content though and glad this great sport is getting vids like this on youtube finally.
us aussies would rather him to called C*nt then have our sporting legends names be pronounced so incorrectly.

It’s wild that an American is making the best cricket videos, when did you get into the sport? Or does an American just do the voiceovers?
Just one thing though, his surname is pronounced more like ‘war’ rather than ‘wah’.

You really should have learned how to say half the words you said in this video. You don't know how to say Tugga, Tendulkar, Kallis, Gilchrist or even Waugh. Do more research, or at least listen to the people in the clips you use. And the G in sledging is not silent.

Allan Border did a "Ganguly" for Australia, when they were at the lowest point after the 1987 Ashes. But Steve Waugh laid the foundation for the world beating side that Australia would become, when he took over. Ricky Pointing is just a spoiled brat, who just reaped the benefits from the hard work of these two extraordinary leaders.

      @philhogan5623 11 месяцев назад

Some credit would have to go to Mark 'Tubby' Taylor, who took over from Allan Border in the early 90's.
Tubby wasn't as good a batsman as Border, Waugh, or Ponting, but he was just as good as captain and possibly even better as a tactician.

I have watched a few videos in this series and they are riddled with countless misquotes, untruths and idiotic opinions. I shall not be watching any more on this American channel. Why on earth Americans, who only watch incredible boring 'sports' such as: American Throwball (they never kick the damn thing); Basket-case Ball; Hockey on a frozen puddle; and Rounders (a game played by little schoolgirls)? Leave cricket to the intelligent nations that play it to a high international standard and stick to your silly pastimes that are more 'time-outs' than sports action.
