14 points against a MAC team when your ranked a top 5 team in the country is unacceptable. Imagine OSU, Texas, Georgia, Bama scoring that low of point total.
No It's also about how it looked. They weren't playing in some rainstorm, a bunch of flukey turnovers, or had a big injury They just got beat. That's an awful look
Stop disrespecting Northern Illinois. That's a great football team that went to a BCS bowl game not too long ago. Notre Dame lost to the best team in the MAC. This is not nearly as embarrassing as FSU losing to Boston College.
With this loss only way ND should get a playoff spot is going 11-1 & NORTHERN ILLINOIS HAS TO BE THE GROUP OF 5 REP AKA NIU 12-0. JUST WHAT NOTRE DAME GETS THO JOIN A CONFERENCE PERIOD CONGRATS TO NORTHERN ILLINOIS
If Notre Dame wins out, the Fighting Irish will get into the CFP. They'd have wins over Texas A&M, currently undefeated Purdue, Virginia, Army, and Navy, and top 25 USC and Louisville. That's a real schedule, in spite of what anyone else says. Two ACC teams, a Big Ten team with a rich football tradition, the service academies, which are incredibly difficult to gameplan for, and USC, a top 10 team this year.
@@RobbieStacks90yeah I don’t get why these social media slaves keep begging Notre Dame to join a conference, such a weird narrative they’re running with. I like how Notre Dame’s stayed independent
@@RobbieStacks90 And that’s a big if because clearly with the teams you mentioned there’s a very high probability that they lose one of those games which means they are gonna be out.
The problem is offensive output. Riley Leonard is overrated and they can’t put points on the board. It’s very likely their last game at USC is going to be a loss. Now the question is can they beat FSU? Can they beat Louisville? If Notre Dame drops 2, they would have to beg and plead to BARELY get in. But 3 losses they are completely out.
Steve Angelli needs to start if they want a tiny glimmer of hope they win out and hope somehow, not that I think they will and kills me as an Irish fan, that the committee sorta forgives them, but sends them to Oregon or Ohio State to get ran over round 1. It just hurts, I was really looking forward to host round 1 at home.
I've been a Notre Dame supporter for 40 years, as of this season. I rarely miss a game. NEWSFLASH: They are NOT THAT good. They are barely a top 12 team this year. I didn't like the No. 7 ranking to start the season and after the A&M win...then getting the bump to No. 5.... I KNEW they would crash and possibly against a dangerous team like Northern Illinois, who always come-to-play! I am glad, however, they got this reality-check so early in the season. Maybe they can use it to win-out the rest of the year and get a top 12 spot. They probably do fit into the 10, 11 or 12 spot but no higher.... not this year. Another NEWSFLASH: As much as I like coach Freeman... he will not take them to the promise land. He doesn't seem to be one of those coaches who can get the best out of his players. I think he is a perennial 8-3 coach and will always struggle in the big games against Ohio St., Bama, Georgia etc. Wins against those teams will be rare for coach Freeman, IMO.
Calling them dead-in-the-water is a bit premature isn't it? They have a very light and favorable schedule. They should win a lot of games going forward. The NCAA will rollover in dismay if they don't make it to the 1st 12-team playoff. Notre Dame is "privileged', don't you know?
@@usctrojans1626 The suck part is so much for meeting each other undefeated. Week 1 really looked like our rivalry would take the spotlight away from Alabama-Auburn or Michigan-Ohio State Thanksgiving. All thanks to Freeman not changing QBs in the second half.
