Not sure if you're into the modern industrial design look but I would build the kitchen and desk area out of 80/20 extruded aluminum and finish it off with a bamboo desk top. 80/20 is super strong, it saves precious inches compared to wood construction , it doesn't look home made when you're done, it can't rust or rot or get moldy and it would keep your small space open and airy. And it's easy to reconfigure if you decide to change something later on.
This is almost exactly the vehicle I want for my own build. Those transport conversions with the box tops are a close second choice, but this style of turtle top offers the same versatile length (can still fit in a lot of single parking spots) and has the added bonus of width due to the full cutaway I say, for either a couple or a person looking to solo van life, but with a bit more space... This is the vehicle to look for
I have been looking at those vans here in the North East coast,USA. The prices have been $10,000 to $15,000. We have a 2012 at work. I'm a chauffeur. It rides nice. I checked the mpg and it was about 9 or 10
If you get solar panels get some clear plexiglass to protect them from hail or flying debris, i felt bad in your old vid when solar got damaged, live, love & explore & be free👍👍
Back from dealing with Hurricane Michael. What an ordeal.Too close for comfort. No power or internet, cell service for 48 hours. Ya'll got an absolutely awesome deal on that bus. High miles but probably fleet maintained. So everything that needed fixing was fixed. Can't wait to see your creativity at work in the new build. Remember keep it simple, keep it open. Missed ya'll. Love you guys.💖🚌☮💨👌🙌💖
I am sure this bus is going to look amazing when it's done! I am excited to see the end results. Once you pass the cockpit, what are the floor dimensions? How wide, long and high is the space you get to use for the build? How long is the bus bumper to bumper? Enjoy your journey!!!! :-)
7.5 wide, 14 long :) the height is probably just over 6ft - Chad is 6' 3" so it's a weee bit too short for him, that's why we want to create an awesome outdoor living space to cook/chill in. Bumper to bumper I believe it's like 18ft long??
I'm about to purchase a 2014 FORD STARTRANS 4seats + 2wheel-chair spots, ADA SHUTTLE BUS. Yours looks exactly the same as the one I'm buying. PRICE $14,975 should I keep looking? -- or settle for that price HERE IN LAS VEGAS?
@@DestinationDalmatian im in the demo process currently. I'm not worried about the building and interior but unfortunately our bus has some issues under the hood so I have to get those solved before we can get inside!
Keelan Esquivel sane here, it’s going in the garage tomorrow but spent the weekend gutting it out and sealing the floors. Probably gonna start framing today and sealing the roof later. I’ve been doing so much research on these engines and proper maintenance care, it’s a pain cuz I’m completely new to diesel. Keep me posted how your progress goes since we’re both starting out I’m curious to see how it goes on both our ends
@@DestinationDalmatian mines actually a 6.8L V10 gasoline, no diesel - im going to do a complete engine swap reman. and transmission swap. On our engines it seems the Timing Belt and Drive Chains go out around 200k so if you hear knocking from the underside check those out first. Mine has quite a lot of water damage so our demo process is haphazard. Also did your floors go from plywood straight into the ground of the Earth? there's no metal underneath the wood for me xD lmk how it is.
Planning on doing a bus conversion but thinking about the timeline to do it. With about twenty five thousand dollars of debt to my name I was curious how you guys planned on doing your conversion. Were you debt free, or did you keep the load of your bills and just save on the side for it?
Looks like a great blank canvas, only 2 questions so far (sorta 1 really) what is tare weight without the seats with a full fuel tank, and what is the Gross Vehicle Mass (Total weight permissible with everything on board) ?
OMG This thing is gorgeous. So much newer and quieter it's going to be an amazing improvement over the bus. Also...parking will be much easier with the small size. So happy for you both. Congratulations 😀😀😀
How does the door work when you have to leave can you like open and close it without having to do it from the drivers seat? I have wondered this since I’m researching buying a shuttle bus myself..
Man you got a good deal on that thing it's in real nice shape to especially for the mileage must have been well looked after if you come back to the States you'll have to ship it back it's so nice !!!
I am sooo excited! I can't wait to see what you do with it! I really like wood ceilings in the bus builds. Bamboo? I'm sure i'll like whatever you do. :)
For ceiling I would use nice upholstery fabric with spray glue. I saw where one bus/van used like a dresser/cabinet for kitchen simple but very nice and usable .. practical. But you have much to work with. Love your vlogs
Hey if you check out Bob on Cheep RV living he has a new post with like my ideas. What I am planning on doing. Maybe not exactly we shall see what shows up. 😊👍
I will repeat what the man below me said....OMGosh, this thing is gorgeous!!!! Less is BETTER!!!! I am so excited!!!! Maybe, just maybe, a futon, but with a memory foam mattress! They work as a sofa & as a day bed & flat out as a bed, bed! Memory foams come cheap (at Big Lots...do you know what that is? or one such as Caravan Carolyn got, almost $300.) but boy are they comfortable!!! I know you will do what works best for you!!!! This is so much fun, gosh you all keep it up, I am living the dream too!!!! I JOINED PATREON......for just $1.00 for now, hope to be able to move up some day!!!!! Hey! I don't want this to be done yet!!!! LOL Judie
Nice little ride, looking forward to the plans. I never could get sketchup to work, just left me frustrated, so I just went old school and hand sketched my plans so far. I am guessing the free version don't have all the bells and whistles.
For the roof I’m thinking a light cheese cloth kind of material draped from front to bank, so it kind of looks like a wave and when the wind blows it will move as well. Also this way the light and sound from the existing fixtures can shine through.
I so wanted to get one just like yours but could not find one that wasnt rusted out or within price range. I went with a 40 year old Flair and needs a great deal of interior and a bit on outside edging. Anyway, first one for me so there ya go. Any ideas for interior walls. I want to lighten the feel but leave the old cabinets. Maybe lighter color for ceiling and wall board. Cheap hopefully ???? Help
We're going to be going over everything on the interior with white creamy latex paint, we'll let you know how it looks so you can get inspired for yours :)
yeeeees, we are going to head over to habitat for humanity and see what sort of recycled furniture/etc. we can find, but this is our 2nd go-to! Thanks, William :)
Wow I'm getting so excited for you guys Can't wait to see the layout . For the mattress Caravan Caroline On RUclips Just got a mattress to try out for free From a company Check Her video Maybe you can get one donated to you As long as you advertise it ???You got enough followers Anyway as always Stay safe Stay strong Aloha 🎅

Looks awesome. You guys stole it at that price. Kinda has a HUGE van life feel. Will be waiting for a great build out on it👍
Celebrating your good fortune!! Awesome price on the bus. I hope you're enjoying the hell out of yourselves. :D
Cool bus 🚎 I’m glad everything is working out

Good to see a bus back in your lives.
It's going to look absolutely amazing! It's interesting how much room you get once you take the seats out!

Been really digging the beautiful Hawaii footage guys! Im really excited for you both and very excited for the new bus! I think youre gna love it! ❤
I love it! What an amazing find!

I sold my van and might be buying one of these this weekend. Any advice would be appreciated

Looks really nice! What about cork on the ceiling? Handles moisture well, lightweight, renewable, and should help a little with road noise.

Congratulations 😀😀😀
Thank you so much, David!! We are feeling soo grateful for this new home, can't wait to start making it look like our home :)
David definitely
And.......Chad still can't stand up...smh
Anyway....enjoy the warm breezes and sticky buds of Hawai 😎
and so is she
is it gas or diesel?
Honey I love your videos and I'm so inspired but I have a few question how is maintenance on the bus, gas and parking for you?
move the exit windows forwardfor more air flow and paint the roof with a mural
very nice bus

It's so exciting!
Congrats on the bus!!! Now I have to play catch up and binge watch your videos, life got in the way.
Which motor is in the bus? The 5.4L V8 or the 6.8L V10? They both get awful gas mileage but they're tough and fairly cheap to maintain.
What's the width of the bus? It looks like the bed would be to short?
Congrats to one of my favorite RUclips couples! So glad you got a perfect start for your perfect start!
thank you
Nice to see you guys so excited over your new bus! Best of luck to you, hope it turns out the way you want it.
Lol, Enjoy, that's our old van from VIE.

I'm super stocked about following the build. I love the small space compared to a full length bus personally.
What no new vlog today 😔
Awesome sauce
Josh lol
Super nice after rip all that out wow , how long did it take 2 hours , Chad maybe do out side flip down cook top , just thinking

Its a 1996 Ford E-350
❤ 👍🏻
How many miles on the van?
393,000 :)

Most likely the van is already decently insulated so just go for building maybe loosen panels to slide wire behind but enjoy
Thanks so much, Jim! We're going to keep it as simple as possible :)

@Living ZEAL rust inhibitor enamel paint. Just not sure if there is a low VOC 1.
