★ Who are we?
We're Chad and Zaynah Miner! For the past two-something years we have been traveling the U.S. in our tiny home on wheels with our two cats, Tavi and Akina. The main reason we are living in a van was to get out of our crushing rent in Boulder, Colorado and re-gain our freedom and time. Chad has been a professional photographer aiming to make his side hustle his main hustle for several years now, and van life has given him the opportunity to make this transition (which is super exciting!!). Zaynah has always dreamed of living minimally, traveling as much as possible, and living in a tiny home off grid somewhere with a fully sustainable setup. We plan to continue traveling for the next few years in our van home to save for our long term goal of a sustainable home on our own land - so please subscribe and join the adventure! We also have over 200 videos of our time traveling full time in a skoolie conversion so if you want to see the various vehicles we've lived in check that out under the playlists tab. All the best xx

You guys rock! I was on the fence on separating the front. My door sucks. So I'm going to build a nice new one. Take the heater back to Walmart for an exchange.. Bus life rocks. You two are my absolute favorite bus peeps. I absolutely love Boulder and Cards against humanity. I'll be there in April. Let's set a meet up🤗I seriously LOVE you guys! The fall was so sweet. I love the Pooh and pee warning. We are all adults and you guys are sweet to try to explain it. But I just love the fact that you didn't cave in and pay $1000 for a composting toilet. I'm ashamed to be associated with people who think that's cool. No reason for that to be that much money. They all look the same after you do your business in them..it's poop no matter how you package it.
We love the separation from the wall, it's a must in our opinion haha. Can't wait for you to come out this way, we'd love to meet up with you for a coffee or beer in Boulder! Let us know when! We're bouncing around Boulder/Fort Collins for the winter, so we'll be around in April. We couldn't agree more with your composting toilet opinion.. our setup was extremely inexpensive and that's how it should be!
1 of the "guys" is a woman.
Some people just like a different system for their toilets, I just want to say I did think it was kind of rude to say, but I do agree that poo is poo and it's easier and cheaper to do it the way they have
Whatever was in that glass piece I want some. 11:35
@@johnbraucher1499 I saw that too! Nice!
Happy that’s all that counts. You guys seem so real and happy. I’ve people living small in luxury who look like they are acting happy. You guys really did all that yourselves in 6 months and are still together. You are to be commended.👏🤟
You guys bring out such simple things in life. Daily life is so cluttered but looking at your video I feel like I should pay more attention to the little things in life
Thank you very much, Im 80 years old in Puerto Rico, getting motivated by many of you great people to go to Florida and start looking fo some Van that i can convert. Will appreciate advice from you nice people.
We're so glad our videos are helpful for you. I used to live in FL and there were a lot of people living this lifestyle. The absolute best to you, William!
If you want, it looks like you can change the direction your fridge opens by switching the hinges. That way you could open it towards the food prep area, rather than away from it.
You guys have really sweet personalities❤️❤️. I love the way you've set up your bus, I've never seen one that had separate spaces so I think that makes it feel very homey!
You guys seem so happy together and your bus is perfect! So cute and homey. Thanks so much for the tour. Safe travels.
Subscribed.
Just got done smoking a bowl and see a bowl at 11:34 lol like u guys even more now and can't wait 2 get my bus
Oh sweet! MJ heals! Thanks for your comment, friend! :)
lol can't believe I missed that
I thought that's what I saw too hahaha
Cannabis does indeed heal ~
Good eye, I totally missed that, cheers to fellow Cannabis fans
Prefer short bus because it's more spacious then a vine but you can still get everywhere easier then a full sized school bus
Enjoyed the video. The 2 of you have such happy and loving energy that it's a pleasure to watch you
Aw thank you so much for such a sweet comment!
The stove is so cute.
The random things I pick up following people from other countries - the realisation that not everyone recognises a hot water bottle!
I dig the warm, cozy cabin feel of the interior. Kudos!
Love all of the changes/improvements to your build! Great job!! Happy trails!
Thank you so much!
Your bus is fantastic! I especially love how you stores the Mason jars!! Continue to live life!!!!
Chad came up with that! it works so well!
Right on! I absolutely could live in that bus! I'm planning something, just not exactly sure what it will be until it happens. I'm thinking a utility trailer but that's not set in stone. I have 2 cats and 2 large dogs, so I will be needing something with somewhat of a large open floor plan like yours. I love your kitchen area as well! The sink rocks! There is nothing I don't love about your home! Take good care and thanks for the insight!
Thanks so much for your comment, friend! So glad you love our home as much as we do! :)
I love this bus. I was thinking I needed a long bus but this is really all you need. I am beginning to have second thoughts about the long or double decker bus. I don't know what we are going to do about a fridge (it's a long way off lol!) but you just don't get gas ones! Yours is gorgeous...propane is a bugger for condensation, I remember that from my cottage! We don't get a lot of RV stuff here in the UK. Be careful with the hot water bottle and squeeze out the steam carefully before you put the top on and it will last longer lol!
Foxiepaws! I have been looking at smaller ones myself! Here are some numbers that I have found useful when trying to decide what is big enough! The 5 window buses are usually 23 ft from bumper to bumper but have 15 ft of living space length once you walk up the steps. A 7 window bus is 28 ft long bumper to bumper with 20 ft of living space length. 8 windows are about 30 ft feet long bumper to bumper so maybe averaging 22 ft of living space? From my own research that if you really want everything that a normal little house does including a shower with a toilet, then I highly suggest no less than a 5 window bus. I have seen 5, 6, 7, and 8 window buses. The 4 window buses are just too small to include a bathroom unless you give up a couch or sacrifice on the kitchen! I hope this can be helpful for deciding in the future!
Real life stuff. True to custom and a real explanation to life on the road. Don't change anything, you guys are happy and inspire those who desire better in life.
Our bus is the same size and yes y'all look like y'all are doing the best you can at the moment... you have a roof over your head and food in your stomach. I like it! It's functional!! We just started our build.
You guys are AWESOME! Remind me so much of my fiance and I. We have been on and off living nomadic for years now and have been seriously considering a short bus. After watching the video getting a lot of good ideas and seeing how much you guys are enjoying it has really motivated us. Thanks for the great post look forward to following you guys on your journey.
wonderful tour of your lovely bus! that fall -- the most creative thing yet on a video...glad you're ok.
The way you guys both said "okay" in the exact same tone cracked me up. You guys are too cute.
love to see people that get along so well
Hi ! just find your youtube chanel and i'd like to say I very much like you guys... your simplicity and your joy .. thx , keep on going !
Fred ( France )
Y'all are definitely my favorite skoolie/van couple! So funny and just down to earth!
Jessica you just made our day!!! Thank you so much, that means so much to us 😀😉🙃💕
I just love your videos your videos don’t seem to be dry when I mean by that is like all the other videos I’m currently in the process of saving for a small bus
Thanks so much for that! And congrats on saving your own bus -- that's awesome! :)
I love this bus so much! Aw, you do look beautiful in the sunlight... what a lovely man to tell you that! I think you two are a great couple! I love this bus and the two of you always leave me feeling happier!
Some great ideas here! I am planning on doing this someday. I like the above counter sink, and that stove oven combo.
It worked like a charm :)
nice Pipe on the Bed love the color! Great buss home. now i want one.
what an adorable bus and couple! I might get one of those buses. thanks for the really cool tips!
Absolutely! Thanks so much for watching, skylar!
The domestic and other chest-style fridges aren’t at all like a cooler other than how they open. They refrigerate and/or freeze exactly like an upright, except the cold doesn’t fall out every time you open the door so they don’t work as hard trying to re-cool,the air every time you get something out.
We meant only in how they look. We have owned 4 different dometic coolers in our conversions. Love them, but also love our truck fridge. thanks for the info.
?
Like that sink and faucet. I do hear that black out curtains are essential. So including them in my build. My sons are looking for a bus for me. Bless them.
Super love your wee home! Well done. That must be the world's smallest wood stove, I think it's awesome
Aw thank you so incredibly much, Lynne :)
Awesome job! Just got my Skoolie in NH and converting , framing and floor done .
You guys have so many things we have, which made my husband so much more comfortable even though its a year late! Much love ❤
I've been watching so many older videos .. Sure have been missing you guys .. Hope to see ya'll again soon
I have one of those fans. Since I live on the coast in a home we have power outages because of storms. So my main heat is a pellet but also have a wood stove. the fan works great on the wood stove but is very slow on the pellet stove. I think that is because the stove pipe is much smaller diameter and also does not get as hot as the wood stove. I loved seeing how fast yours was turning.
You guys really are funny and I love watching you! Please keep doing videos!!!!
😂❤️ Her angelic beauty literally floored him. (Glad it didn't blow him away! 😉) You guys are THE NEATEST! Very much appreciate you sharing your energy! Stay blessed and well. 🏵
Hahaha you're so sweet!! Thank you so much for watching this video & for commenting. You're so sweet too!
Hahaha It was so cute! But also a little funny!
I know i'm late but came across your vid while looking at skoolies. You guys are so adorable & likable your short bus is great 😊
love the green chillum happy trails
I love the bus! Thinking of doing one myself! I thought I'd mention in case you don't know that cats are allergic to aloe vera and some other house plants. It can cause kidney failure. I had one too but thankfully I found out about that and put it in an area that the cat cannot get to it. Best of luck on your adventures!
Love the bus looks great. I plan on buying a bus next year to convert as well. Even better yalll are near by I'm in Windsor myself. Keep up the great life!
That's awesome! Our home bases are so close -- maybe we'll run into each other one of these days!
You've made a great little home - it's really beautiful!
Thanks so much!
I personally like that size vehicle. Bigger than a sprinter but not too big either. Perfect for 2 people and a pet. Thanks for showing the video.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching! We feel like it's the perfect size as well, plenty of room for two grown adults and a pet or two!
For all your spices you can go to dollar tree & get plastic baskets, if you measure you might get them to fit under your counter, my husband & I have lived in RVs for over 20 years & I find those plastic baskets are so great. :) hope this helps
What a great idea! We are right near a dollar tree too - thanks!
Love your bus! Hey you have to be careful with that propane heater if it’s not vented it well give off carbon monoxide
Great video, your home/skoolie is beautiful, & so are you both....
Thanks so much!
I like you guys. No music to drown u out. Be safe and Happy. Lin
Love it!! I took screen shots and want to share on my Facebook page❤️❤️❤️
Aw so glad you like it! Thank you soo much for sharing it on Facebook!
I love those interior night lights .Beautiful
I love it! Congrats on the tiny home!
You guys are groovy. Happiness+great music=freedom! Peace.
Patricia, YOU are the groovy one 😊
Patricia, YOU are the groovy one 😊
@@LivingZEAL thanks. I think Im groovy cause I really want to go hippy style lol. Wish me luck. Peace.
Actually the dometics are much better because they lose minimal cold air when you open the door since they are chests. the temp can also be adjusted to cool or freeze as you wish or depending on the weather.
Yeah they are really neat! We just prefer ours :)
one word, real! Really enjoyed watching you guys
Thank you so much for watching & commenting :) we so appreciate it!
I saw a guy who didn't want to take the time to clear his windshield because he was late for work. He'd just cleared two 4" holes in the frozen 3" snow-ice combination on his windshield (one for each eye?) and driven merrily off at fair weather speed. Cut a hole in that new door and bolt through a couple of sheets of plexiglas, before you get a ticket for driving with impaired visibility, or worse.
You have many great design ideas in your bus. I've lived in converted stepvans on and off since 1970, about fifteen years in total, and always used my own designs. I favor the porta pottie in the waterproof plywood (Polyester resin and fibergless lined) closet (30" X 30") for showering with a floor drain to a greywater tank that also catches the sink drain water. It dribbles out a bit whenever i stop, so if I'm in a city, it's always empty, but I can close the valve and stay drip free for a month. I think you'll be making many design innovations as you go along, and wish you both the best of luck with everything.
Thanks for your tips & info, friend!
Looks great! I love your new table! Thank you for inspiring!
Thanks so much for watching! Our table is definitely a prized possession on the bus haha
Campervan kevin had the same problem with his mr buddy heater and he got a new hose for it and that fixed the pilot light problem.
Congratulations on your improvements. It's really hard to work in a small place while you're living in it. You two appreciate the little things most people take for granted. We also used a composting toilet for years in our off grid home. Never had a bad smell.
I do have some concerns, though. Can you drive safely with that solid door blocking your view to the right? (Also, it looks like an interior door in the video. If so, it's not designed to be exposed to the weather.) Not trying to be negative. Don't want to pull out in front of someone because you couldn't see them. Good luck to you two.
Thanks for your comment, friend! There's a window on the side next to the door that we can see out of & a bunch of mirrors on the front that show the sides. We had the same concern initially and tested it out with a dark tarp before committing to the door.
Looking great! Love the front room! So cute how Chad got distracted stumbled and fell at the beautiful site of his love.. So sweet!
Chad went weak at the knees. Awwwww. 😊
He actually slipped into a ditch.. but I'll take it.. ;)
Thanks so much! Haha love your comment
You guys are so cute, you both seem so sweet! Love your bus so cozy!🍄🦋😜
Love how you fell looking at her
He adores her!
Haha...lol...just too cute u two!!! Love da bus...really seems like home. You guys are adorable!!! You've gained a following... definitely love to see u guys again for another catch up along ur journeys!
Too precious!!!
15:38 on...Golden!!! Goodness u two...too cute!!! You guys exude love and happiness!!!
Great tour of y'all's house, thanks very much. Y'all take care and YHVH bless.
Be well!
Good job guys! Keep up the good work!
I have the same crapper! Bucket and lid! Thank God Wal-Mart and the home depot were so close to each other.
Right... Is that always a thing I wonder? haha they're in cahoots
You guys are so lucky. Im shopping for a bus right now and it is so hard to find a short bus diesel im mostly coming across gas minotours. Im scared to shop outside of a dealership so im stuck with dealer trade ins within my 15k price range so i would only have to build one out and not have to do any repairs on the bus itself plus warranty which i would really want i heard towing is crazy expensive for a bus. Yours looks really nice and comfy
I love how the video ends with have a great night keep ending the videos like that❤️👍🏻😊
We will :) thank you for commenting!
YOU GUYS ARE AWSOME I CANT WAIT TO GET ON THE ROAD
Hey thank you! YOU are awesome too & we're sending love your way that you can hit the road soon!!!
10:01 that was so cute how y'all bot said ok at the same time and the same way😌😊😊😊😘😝🤗🤗💖💖💖
This couple is goals.
Very cool build. I'm thinking about building a shorty like that for a camper!
The radiant barrier at night is beautiful!!!
Rewatching some of your old videos, I hope this helps! Stay warm & take care mama!
Nice conversion, an though I see residential door replace the original bus doors all the time on these builds, I wasn't sold on it for mine. Just looks...out of place. I have the split bus bifold doors, so I welded them together to make a 1-piece door, an then sheeted the outside for one large window instead of the 4 small ones. This also gave me the opportunity to insulate the inside an put in double pane glass an some sturdy weatherstripping. Now it looks like factory, but is more convenient, better insulated an secure, an without making it look hodge-podged together.
Again, tastes differ, but I was never a fan of home doors on a bus conversion.
Living in an RV/Bus/MobileHome has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. I remember since I was at least 5-6 the only things I would make out of legos were these RV's with computers and other gadgets, and then I started going camping alot with my grandparents, and they stayed in an RV. For the past 5 years I've been wanting to get it done, but things happened so I set it in the background... but now I'm at the point where I can finally start looking for an RV, and in a little over a year ill finally be able to :) Right now I'm just saving up for the RV, waiting until fall to start looking ;)
But the past 3 weeks I've been binge watching videos like this, just to give me some ideas ;)
HOWEVER You guys are the only ones so far who drink the same tea as me ;) Maybe one day well run into each other and have a glass :) Sleepy Time is my favorite ;)
P.S. Yes, the real reason I commented on this was Tea. Lol
We absolutely love celestial seasonings!!!
I was just going to ask about crumbs in those cracks when you brought it up. Nice little home. Very well done
Great video...this would be be perfect for me...I love your house!
Just subscribed...looking forward to many more videos
Thank you so much for watching & commenting!
Fantastic guys ..outward bound and beyond ..😁
Hi so awesome really so great. Happy travels.
Great conversion!! love the front door solution - yes, Habitat for Humanity is awesome and shopping there first is good for everyone! Saw the kitty litter...where's the cat box? Thanks
Nice video! I have to mention the propane tank. It has to be secured. Don’t know too many more details but look into how it should be secured. Hate to hear if there was an accident. Take care!
Comfort Zone makes a 10×6 inch sized maximum heating dynamo. Bought for $15 US at WalMart in Fall or beginning Winter- I bought four -and placed them in the master bedroom, kitchen, front room (that includes dining, sitting/library/office area- open concept style), and one in the short hall to the two other bedrooms and guest bath. Yes, a 3 br/2bath moderately sized house was kept well heated in one of North TX's coldest, iciest, longest Winter- and at medium setting- when my pilot light thingy broke and I could not use gas heat system. Only raised my bill 100 bucks for that big house. Your skoolie is the size of a bedroom, so it will heat well in half an hour at high ,then turn to med once it gets toasty. Comfort Zone/Howard Berger, Co., Inc. Ceramic htr, MAX 1500W, 120V AC; model:CZ44RWM; fan forced; high/low & fan only, TipOver Safety Switch on bottom in case of pets/kids.
the same thing happened to our buddy heater! After only 2 months of use. Pretty frustrating! We tried cleaning it and everything but we are on our second one now... anyway love your bus!! :)
Yeah we are super bummed about it.. we'll have to let each other know if we come up with a solution... for now we're hoping it gets us through a couple more months of winter. Best to you, friend!
The pilot lights seem to fail a *lot* on the Mr. Buddy heaters.
If your up for it - Try resin / epoxy in the counter top gaps. There are some awesome videos on it... and Great Bus
The only thing I would say against it is it isn't food grade and has really harsh fumes, you would need to stay out of the bus for a while and let it air out and dry. Perhaps a wax-based filler and what we did on our oak countertops was a cutting board conditioner. It's food grade and helps repel water/ seal it.
y know u can buy 2 part resin on amazon to fill in cracks on counter top, even add tiny pebbles or something u can find on one of your trips or even multi colored seed beads would go with the ghost caravan vibe
Just watched the vid. If I had a beautiful spirited gal like that I would move into a cave if she wanted one. 😀 But you should seriously keep that propane tank outside on a proper hanger bracket. It is heavier than air and will flow towards the lowest spot. Carbon monoxide detector and smoke alarm for sure if u don't have one. Try to pick up an emergency escape hatch over the bed in case fire is by rhe front door where the propane is!!! Other than that, live free, follow your dreams and make great memories. You both seem like real nice folks. Peace...
Great video. ❤ the info. Still trying to decide between a skoolie or a van. I guess it comes down uniqueness.
It comes down to where you're wanting to travel with it... if you want to go to that off grid BLM land don't get a skoolie haha there are many limitations on where it will/will not go
I like both of your personalities I like a lot about the bus however I could not be on the bus without an actual bathroom. Love your separate driving area/foot wear closet though. Happy safe travels and glad it works great for you both
I love the use of your space. I was looking for some specifics on your wood stove and your fridge.
haha aw you guys are too cute. thanks for the shout out! hope it adds to your arsenal of ways to stay warm (I usually reuse the water a couple times too just to conserve)
It's amazing! We've been using it nonstop since we opened it the other day! We've reused the water a couple times, because hey why not.. thank you again SO MUCH!
Awesome job u 2. Looks great.
It's looking cozy, really nice setup. You might want to fix the gap in the front door, too much air entering and escaping.
Yeah we agree, on our list of things to do this week. Thanks for your comment, friend!
Just found you guys.Love the video.I am fixing to do one up myself.Would love to see a video of how you guys get it ready for travel mode.Like where does all the loose things go when driving and such. Don't see anyone doing videos of that.
I should've clicked out of the pooing, and peeing part, but I survived. I just want to say this. I don't know if I can live like that in a small space, but I do love the fact that you have a home that is able to relocate in different areas. That I love that everyday is like an adventure just to travel anywhere, and have the comfort of home with you. What I want is something like that, but to be able to have a steady home to where if I get tired of the road I could have a stable location. What you have there is really nice, and someday I want to travel having something like that.
I'm the same.....I would need a home base. To use if really needed due to an unforeseen event, or at times to just take a breather from the road.
lol video at 11:36. nice I have one too!! ( the pipe on the bed ) it's nice too know u guys are real people!!
Absolutely! Thank you so much for watching our tour vid & for commenting :)
Fun build... It was stated you had water dripping from the roof... so you adding reflectics to deal with it. Sadly the water was condensation from the difference in temperature inside and out... AND... you breathing out moisture. All you have done is trap the moisture between the roof and material used to cover it giving a place for mold and mildew to grow...
+Steve Mazz thanks for the info. We are aware that the condensation is from all that plus the burning of propane. We didn't want to stop the condensation, we couldn't. I instead made channels to direct the water out from the ceiling without ruining anything. Thanks for your concern, no need to worry though.
Living ZEAL Do you not worry about something getting your cats? Are they always let out no matter where y'all are? Just asking.
I think it would be a good idea to have a humidity meter or something and possibly a dehumidifier? Or those damp rid buckets. Just a thought. Oh very nice build btw, thanks for sharing!
omg, i laughed so many times. you guys are funny. inspiring conversion!
Thanks for watching, Veronica! :)
For your pantry hanging gars, if the lid spins. Just put another screw in the lid. They will not raddle and shake as much either. I use plastic jars. Less likely to break when they get dropped..
Thats a great idea! Thank you!
It's a great video. Nice job. Sweet couple.
thank you very much, Rita :)
Omg, you guys are so raw and real. And he fell?! Lollll then y’all both farted. Hillarious 🤎
Saw your bowl when showing the bed so I subscribed ✌️
