I, ironically, only want the a6600 over the a6700 because of the flip up screen. I think it is better than the flip out for so many reasons, to include maintaining the compact size, shooting discreetly in public, and I also prefer it for video behind the camera. I’m seriously debating this over the a6700.
Same the A6600 is perfect for street and I’m waiting to get a good deal on the used market. I wanted to buy the XS-10, but the Flip Screen was also a dealbreaker for me, so I’m going for the A6600 now ✌️

I totally agree, I don’t like flip out screens 😅 don’t make sense if you are behind the camera
Same, I have the 6600 and the flip up screen is superior in my opinion. The two main gripes with this camera is I wish the screen tilted to the side as well for portraits. The other is the rolling-shutter in 4k is unusable for fast paced video, works fine for stationary shots or shots with little to no movement.
I agree 100% on the flip up screen. A big reason why I got the camera. I Love shooting from the hop and looking down at the screen for touch shutter. The only thing I wish that I could stabilize the video footage using catalyst browse.
Had a a6600 for a few years now, been very happy with it. Tempted occasionally to get a FF camera, but not due to lack of quality in the photos I get, that's for sure. I rarely do any vid, so can't comment on that one. I have 4 Sony APC lenses, one Sigma FF art 24-70mm lens that's killer good combo.
I actually just scooped up a slightly used 6600 for $700 to upgrade from my a6300. Tried the zve10 but missed the evf and better build quality. Was always pretty happy with the image quality on the 6300 so adding the benefits of the better screen, bigger battery, and ibis, it just made sense. Plus I already had a good amount of apsc glass and didn’t want to have to swap all those out. Depending where your deliverable is, I don’t think most people would be able to tell a difference between a lot of cameras these days in terms of image quality. I’m staying rocking the 6600 for quite a while I think.
That’s awesome! Yes, I’m pretty happy with the image quality of the a6600. Brought to still use it today. Haven’t had one complaint from any clients. It’s like you said, it all depends on the deliverable. 9 times out of 10 a client won’t even care about specs, it just needs to look and feel good.
the newer battery alone is worth it tbh, i used to rent a6600 for a job and the battery last almost 2 hours for continues recording at 1080p30, but then my workplace decided to get ZV-E10 and my god, that FW50 is awful! barely got 1 hour of recording before i need to charge it. i need to carry atleast 3 battery if we need to shoot outside LOL
I wish the a6700 has the same multi articulating screen as the a7RV. I just can't get use to the flip out screen that moves my eyesight away from the center of the camera
Bro I want to purchase my first ever camera. My main purpose would be around good Cinematic videography and Photography too. I am very confused between few cameras such as A6600, ZV-E10, A6400, Canon R10 or Canon R50. All of these are costing me almost the same, like there's no major difference in pricing. Yes A6600 is without Kit Lens, that's it. Can you suggest which one would be best.
Sorry for the late reply. I’d say go with the a6600. Reason being you have a ton of options for lenses and it’ll last you a while for video content creation.
I just ordered one, just a question though, any good and budget lenses I’m thinking for zoom and as well as for portraits, and also how long till this camera gets outdated as I’m scared because it came out in 2019
I have 2 a6600s - the first I purchased brand new, and the second was a pristine used model that frankly could have easily passed as new. While I wish I could afford a full frame, the stable and range of lenses I own - particularly at the wide end - kinda erase that necessity. The only complaint I have with these cameras actually applies to other Sony cameras as well: it’s that #%^*!! menu system. If I was to exert any influence on Sony, it would be to bring their menu system into the 21st century. I’ve been a Sony aficionado since the Minolta days. Sony promised it wouldn’t abandon us - and they held true to their word. All my lenses, flashes, adapters and connectors work. … which is why I’ll never leave Sony.
A6600 was selling for $999 during the release of A6700 which is why I bought one and immediately regretted my purchase. Having had ZV-E1, not even A6700 is comparable in terms of image quality and low light performance. So I recommend you to buy the ZV-E1(This takes excellent photography too) over A6700, and A6700 over A6600. But do not buy A6600, I wasted $1000+tax of my money.
@internationalpirate Too late, I bought an A6600 over 3 years ago and am happy to use it today. It all depends on your use case and am considering getting a second one instead of an A6700. As good a camera as the ZV-E1 is, the lack of an EVF makes it a non-starter for me.
@@bobnason4147 What I am saying is that A6600's sensor is too old from NEX-7 days and just can't keep up in 2024. I advise people just going into photography to buy A6700 or Fujifilm X100VI instead if ZV-E1 is too pricey for you, but do not buy the A6600. Saving $400 is not worth the inferior performance you are getting and can easily be made up by not buying a lens. You will be spending thousands on lenses. I checked and NEX-7's release date was 2011, and Sony was recycling the same sensor for 10 years until A6600. At least A6700's sensor debuted in 2022 with FX30.

I strongly disagree, I have one and regret buying it on the week the A6700 was released, should have returned the A6600 and bought the A6700 instead. The rolling shutter is horrendous so is the low-light performance and color science. I ended up buying the ZV-E1 a month later and is so much happier. I strongly advise people to buy ZV-E1 over A6600 or A6700, the photography quality is excellent even though it's supposed to be a video camera. My A6600 still sits in the cabinet serving as a painful reminder of doing my research before buying a camera. I may purchase A7S4 or rumored A6700R(Same 40 megapixel sensor as Fujifilm's X100VI). But buying the A6700 is actually saving money over the A6600 in the long run.
Are there better cameras than the a6600? For sure! I bought the a6600 when it first came out and I still use it to this day. If you have the ZV-E1, that’s great! But you will obviously see a decline in quality going with the a6600. With that said, this is a video based on MY experience with it and how it’s been a reliable camera to me. If someone is just getting started or already owns it, I’m just letting them know it’s still a great camera. It’s all subjective.

Yeah, it’s always tempting to look into the FF. But the price always is a deterrent. APSC cameras have come a long way.

can you update this camera to sony's new menu
Not sure haven’t tried it yet
Do you know if zve10 batteries are compatible for the 6600?
I'm not quite sure. Though all the new batteries Sony is making are top notch
It should be different, not remember what each one needs. But a6600 has a bigger battery and it works longer.
are they going to discontinue the support for this camera?
Not sure
