Honestly I love Laini Taylor's writing so much but I just couldn't finish the third book in the daughter of smoke and bone series. Her writing's immaculate but the devil and angel trope and basically the characters were so cringey that I just couldn't do it anymore and had to dnf the book... It made me sad but I'm very excited to try Strange the Dreamer! Everyone raves about it and I already love her lush and creative prose...but I feel this lovely camaraderie to see you have a similar response to this book! 😂
I tried reading Godkiller and was not enjoying it so dnf'ed it, I started Powerless just to see on the author's writing style so will get to that eventually, and have plans to read Half A Soul in December. I haven’t read any of her other books. I might or will just wait for Bride. There is something about the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy and the Strange the Dreamer duology that I have been thinking about since i read all the books, and i never see anyone talk about it. But it can be a huge spoiler, so I understand why nobody talks about it. But I was always wondering if other people realised it and if they thought it was as cool as I did, at the time of reading them! I hope somebody here who has read all the books knows what I'm talking about 🤣

I feel like I didn't like Akiva when I first read a daughter of smoke and bone and the second book is just okay so I never ended up finishing the series. The twist is annoying lol.
i really liked godkiller because it gave me geralt/ciri vibes from the witcher but i agree it has maybe one too many pov's. the romance was my biggest criticism though it definitely felt forced and kind of took away from the story?
