Well time for more angst and more decisions.

Obsessed with the fact that the rebels called themselves "Stella's Children". Stella, as we know, is the star they used to create the power crystals as well as Xanu. They don't use the power crystals anymore because they regret what they did to Xanu and want to be better. Their society is built out of the idea that they shouldn't have reduced Stella to a tool... no, they were never meant to be its masters, they were meant to be its children.
Even more ironic/horrifying, that the other child of Stella is willing to ignore that for the 'chance' they may return to the Old Ways and condemn them as well. At this rate, just add Gothi to the pile Xanu, you can't be sure of her not having an infandecimal change of heart too *eyeroll*

"Stella's Children have decided to use their empathy instead."
(10 seconds later)
"so a lot of people... starved"
"Eh, what ca you do, happens."
Well, they only said they use their empathy, not that they are good at it
They have a point though. It was an inevitability. When there is no food, people die. Does it suck? Sure, but feeling bad doesn't make it so it didn't happen. In hard times, empathy is worse for you. It does nothing but hurt you, over and over. Can easily cause severe depression.
She never said they were good with the empathy stuff.
Ehhh they are trying.
@@kalypso4133 Also this is ancient history. Foreclaimers might live long enough that some lived through it, but after a couple of centuries you get over it.

I cant wait for a conversation of Sips "Whose curse was it that got your city overrun?"
Erina: "whose hairbrush was it that saved an entire city and changed the baron for the better?!"
Sips stole the hairbrush.
I love the contrast of:
Episode 1: Sips accidentally does wacky Hijinx during drunk karaoke
Episode 28: The group gets torn as Sips is committed to carry out the will of an ancient artificial god inhabiting his body, as Gothi struggles to convince him to not commit genocide against her people
that's dnd for ya!
@@Starfloofle yeah dnd is weird, like I made a criminal character who went from picking pockets for extra cash and only helping the party cause there was money involved to blowing up the hideout of a Mafia and killing several gang leaders cause they hurt a child.
It's almost like JRPG:
Level 1: Kill rats to stop them from eating the inn's food stores
Level 99: Kill a god to protect all of existence from being erased. 🤣
Session 1:
"Hehe lmao, I'm gonna hit my teammate cause its funny"
Session 24:
"... I need to kill him... He's become... Something else"
Session 1: alley cat Tabaxi stowing away on a ship in a barrel (for 2 weeks apparently, found this out later) to “start a new life off the streets”
Session 30 or so: elven undercover agent has memory suppression and Tabaxi transformation fading while the rest of the party is liberating a village from the elves
My character died two sessions later and the only option for resurrection made me not an elf, so I just made a new character. It’s a shame, I really wanted to play it out.
If Xanu can’t have empathy for Stella’s Children, then he’s no better then the old society.
EXACTLY...lets just hope that sips makes the RIGHT decision
True
Looks like he have empathy.
BUT he is a psycho.
Cares for himself and Guthi, but not for anybody else.
Lmao me reading comments before vid "who the f*ck is stella-"
he really is just out for revenge, not for the greater good, and at this point i think this campaign is gonna end with either sips turning on Xanu at the last moment, possibly sacrificing himself to stop him from wiping out the foreclaimers...
or... more worryingly...
sips embracing the role Xanu claims he is to fill... and committing a genocide
"You're not defective because you have empathy...you're defective because you have too much."
What a line.
"So I guess we can trust you or at least fear you enough to share our story"
is the most D&D NPC sentence I ever heard
I really love how Felix didn't take the easy route, and simply gave the Foreclaimers empathy, but neither did he paint them as still pretty bad for lacking that empathy. He acknowledges the difficulties in lacking it (social awkwardness, only helping out because the enemy's sickness is interesting, only letting them in under threat, casually threatening with death, etc.) but also shows that smart people are willing to be introspective and to learn, and yearn for self betterment even if it will make their road a bumpy one. I don't think he should've done it any other way, giving them empathy would make Xanu overly vengeful and keeping them cruel would've made the party besides Sips naive. Just such a simple solution, but Felix really executed it so well
Watching their clumsy steps to be better should have inspired xanu
I really love things that don't portray empathy as the end-all be-all of whether or not you deserve to exist. Empathy does not make you kind. You ACTIONS make you kind. As a very low empathy person I spend a lot of time doing my best to help the people around me because that's what I should do, not because I feel how bad other people feel. I don't need to UNDERSTAND and FEEL other people's pain to want to DO something about it
They are learning
They have the capacity to be good like any race does
But they are also overly logical, and thus can be more Pragmatic
So much irony in Xanu basically becoming the things he hates.
Gothi said it best: his goal is pretty much revenge at this point. Deep down, Sips probably want this to stop, but what can he do to convince Xanu? A(n artificial) god who still doesn't want to accept the fact there are foreclaimers who are learning to feel emotions, to be like Gothi?
@@dindapriska Especially when Sips has this inner conflict about needing help and wanting the power to not feel helpless. Xanu has promised him that power, and Sips is so desperate to not be a helpless burden, or to not be taken advantage of ever again, so he convinces himself that helping Xanu is what he wants, missing that Xanu is just using him as a tool to get what he wants, just like Kinora.
@@dindapriska I mean this keeps being said but....Xanu doesnt control sips. Sips still has more control that Xanu does. He doesnt need to convince him of literally anything. Xanu cannot cast without Sips's permission.
Except hes not..this is the same comparison that would say that a judge sentencing a murderer to death is no better than the murderer. Same with the jury that found them guilty. Same with the lawyer that won and the one that lost. That isnt how it works though. Xanu IS a higher power than them.
@@masterreaper115 no this specific situation is more like killing a kid cause their father did something bad, the kid is different but could possibly do the same cause of who their father is. It's like saying it's okay to kill white Americans cause a couple hundred years ago their ancestors did fucked up shit like murder and slavery
OMG I just remembered something from the previous eps. Didn't Xanu say that if him and sips aren't alligned to control the curse, the curse can spread? So if sips wanted to save the foreclaimer on the floor, and Xanu wanted to kill it, then there goals arent alligned! One of them would stop pushing the door in fighting the curse, so the will save is just the curse taking the opportunity to push against the door. Which is why Xanu and sips were confused.
Right that way sips is ok because they already come to terms to have control of themselves he must kill the foreclaimers because if they don't alligned the curse will do what they want and I like how sips tell about in the story the bad things he did as sips see himself as a destructive and not a helper because he watch squeeze die help get the little get back and the other good thing was saving Vicky he chooses genocide because perfection is something they may desire again in a rich economy of technology and material and will kill those not pure.
I got such chills when Sips and Gothi were talking. It's always interesting when a player ends up being the villain of the campaign. Like yea, technically it's Xanu, but Sips is actively participating in this. Angst doesn't feel like the right word because there's so much more to Sips. Well done

"You're not defective because you have empathy, you're defective because you have too much"
DAMN Sips, going straight for the throat I see
Honestly, I feel like there's some amount of projection going on there. Sips is having doubts, and is responding by very harshly pushing against anything that resembles them
To be fair... Sips might feel himself defective as well, considering he's no longer acting like a normal monkey, let alone looks anything close to a monkey anymore... and now with a god inside of his head, he is really losing his own identity as a person...
Yeah, but he's not fully himself at the moment. If ep 13 sips was their in that moment, he probably would've choked out 60% curse sips for saying that to his friend.

The fact that this WHOLE CAMPAIGN has gotten me into DnD and soon I'll be making my own campaign, I love this series so much.
Let’s be honest, dingo could make a tv show out of this story, and we’d all watch it
personally i hope that they do it at some point (or even just a show about another of their dnd campaigns).
Critical role did it, who says dingo can't (granted critical role was one of the largest campaigns of all time)
I mean... she pretty much *is*.
Fuck YEEEEEEEESSSSSS
If a tv show actually happened, I would 100% watch it, and pay whatever I would need to watch just it-
Xanu talking about Sips' purpose is pretty damn telling. He clearly views Sips as a tool to be used, not a person going through something extremely difficult. How ironic that he still advocates the death of all Foreclaimers because there's the *potential* that Stella's Children will revert, even though they've managed to achieve a level of empathy that he himself hasn't been able to in hundreds or thousands of years.
All Skyrim players have flashbacks to the Blades.
Im suprised that Sips dont Jump on that mention of "purpose". One this smell "you outlived your usefullness" second Sips dont like Talking about that stuff
So I don't think Xanu would be right to kill Stella's Children, but try and think about it this way
The foreclaimers literally removed their own empathy to be better at science
They create an immortal near unkillable being to torture
Said being tries to wipe them out for obvious reasons
Only after that do some of them decide to try and use empathy, which has given them minimal empathy after thousands of years
Meanwhile the being has been languishing in hatred for said society after having been tortured for who knows how long
Being sees the empathetic society, having held the belief for an impossible to comprehend amount of time that their species should be wiped out. Have you ever had someone try and convince you that a fundamental belief of yours is wrong, after you having had it for over a decade? Imagine someone trying to change a belief you've held for literal thousands of years.
@@mlodykasztelan I think it's because of how much Xanu has poisoned Sips' mind.
I still hope Xanu succeeds though, that would be way more interesting compared to if the "good guys" just won, and everybody lived happily ever after.

I KNOW RIGHT!?
Dang Sips! That... wow.
Also Sips' speech is the exact type of speech a person says to convince THEMSELVES that they are actually bad and that they are actually capable of doing the horrendous thing.
But remember before joining the group he cruse objects and sell them to others he brought all kinds of pain and suffering without zaun then let go of control the cruse and become more apart of it thinking being bad all he can do. I know he can do good he save Vicky from her cruse. He save his friends when there needed he care for squeeze is the good in him but with the artificial god whispering the olny choice he wants as sips mostly olny done bad deeds and the small good doesn't make a difference.
Furthermore, harming others and intentionally causing chaos are the only ways he consistently demonstrates having control over his situation rather than waiting for some new development he wasn’t prepared for or should have seen coming as a result of his prior antics. At this stage, he’d rather deny any evidence that he’s not in control because of how outwardly bleak his situation is starting to look. Zanu IS the one in charge and IS using his insecurities against him, as much as he pretends otherwise to not have to face his helplessness. With his prior bout of hesitation, either he will falter and Zanu will attempt to steal more control from him, something incredibly tragic will have to occur in order for him to decide to abandon his goal, or he will fully commit to genocide to continue his narrative of being a villain that had to sacrifice his conscience to make a difficult choice to benefit others.
Let's just hope (I at least do) that Xanu succeeds and commits genocide.
Masika: holds knife to Jack’s throat
Me: “So this is my new ship, huh?”
Considering my own dnd group, I wonder how many running gags and table jokes we miss since we only see the main story of Fool’s Gold. For example, Felix probably put in the Rock-Named-Johnson joke because of Gothi’s player naming a rock Dwane. I’m pretty certain about this because I, as Mr. God Master DM himself, would totally do the same exact thing.
So glad Zanu has completed his irredeemable villain arc by losing empathy to become no better than the people he hates ❤️

You know things are more super intense than usual when Erina is reading the room.
This series should be made into a movie. (Not live action.) The emotional highs are high, and so are the action scenes, and the comedy is interlaced in the campaign without being unnatural. It’s perfection!
I love that Felix's "Make a will save." caused both Sips _and_ Xanu to both say, "What?" 🤣
It really adds character to Xanu that even at his most manipulative, even he can’t predict every possible outcome of this situation, especially having an increasingly erratic and unstable cursed monkey as the main vehicle for his plans.
And it proves that the will struggle wasn't against Xanu, but was from some other source.

To think sips feels empathy for Stella’s children yet he can’t do anything about it
The progress in this series is CRAZY. From going to a silly little story about a tarsque to voice acting that gave me chills is insane!
So my theory is: sips’s mind has been tainted/fused with the curse permanently. In broad strokes, *it* is pretty much in control at this point, trying to play like sips is still driving, when really, he’s tied up in the backseat. What does it want? Nobody knows. But maybe it’s trying to hide its bloodthirst by playing smart. Pretending that it has a plan, while really, it’s waiting to be in the right position to obliterate, annihilate, and eradicate. Even Xanu might have been tainted slightly. Obviously, a curse from a random witch can’t take over an artificial god, but maybe it had just enough power to push Xanu to keep on the path of genocide, no matter what is lost in the process.
Sips is still there, though. He’s stuck in the backseat, but he can still try to break free. Every now and then, he gets a moment to stop himself just enough to doubt his motives.
By now, the monkey/crocodile is basically just a host/corpse for three people fighting for control. Xanu, the artificial god, Sips, the poor monkey caught between it all…
and *it.*
THE WILL SAVE
I don't think it's necessarily that. But you're close to what I think. The curse alters Sips' judgement. His perception of himself. Once Sips experienced continuity of consciousness after the curse reached both his hands, he felt as though he would always be himself. But in reality, it is affecting him. Warping his mind, influencing him toward evil, instilling within him... Helplessness. Xanu isn't working with Sips to hold beck the curse. He's working with the curse to influence Sips. To force Sips to accept that the genocide must happen. And what can Sips do? Xanu is a god. It's learned helplessness
Yup was thinking the same
If the current theory applies then that means the will save was imposed by the real Sips against the curse who’s in control. The curse failed the save so it couldn’t bring Sips to kill the NPC. That’s why Xanu’s confused, the curse shouldn’t be restraining Sips from going murder-hobo, so what happened? And if Xanu realizes he’s working with the curse, what will he do? Will he work with the curse to get his revenge at any cost, or will he realize the curse is a danger to Gothi before it’s too late?

I would kill to play in a campaign with you guys some day. You're such a fantastic storyteller, Dingo, and Felix is an incredible DM. Bees and Carson are excellent players. You're all so fun!
I’m waiting for sips to say “we’re making the mother of all omelettes here jack we can’t fret over every egg” in response to jack saying something to try and change sips mind
Everyone is talking about the story so let me just tell you Dingo. Those outfits? They are amazing! Especially Erina's, that one is so adorable
I was prepared for a lot of horrible things, but Sipps saying THAT to Gothi was not one of them
It’s odd to think that this story has been going on for so long and is so beloved, while it has already ended long before the first episode,we are just seeing how it plays out
"Oh good, start at juicy part!" That character is funny.
Top tier voice acting especially when Sips and Gothy were arguing ! Can’t wait for the next episode! As the old lady, Elloen once said, "OOOH GOOD, STRAIGHT TO THE JUICY PART!"
What in the 9 hells of Bator is this?
I didn’t watch this series for movie level acting and one of the the most amazing stories I’ve ever heard.
The effort
The drama
The action
It’s driving me insane because of how good it is!
I get more out of this than Hollywood these days.
@@madfox7758 same
Xanu will never be convinced. He's an old God hellbent on revenge.
So basically an Old God
YES! GIVE ME THAT SORCERER ANGST!!
I'm a sucker for stuff like this, my own sorcerer is scarily similar to Sips. From the evil, superior being inhabiting the body, to the "cursed" magic, to the absolute distrust from strangers, and as of this weekend, even a little from the rest of the group.
I cant wait to see what happens, and I would rewatch the whole thing in a heartbeat if it was turned into a proper animation show.
This has been an astonishing story arc.
It's hard to reconcile that this deeply emotional moral crossroads is where we've got to from clicking on "Karaoke = Death".
Great storytelling.
The “You have too much” line from sips and the “I don’t know…I don’t know” from gothi…it got me and I love it
Not as many comments about it as I thought it would be but the voice acting on this episode is FENOMENAL. I got GOOSEBUMPS on sips part
“Crisis averted! With the power of *FEAR* “
This entire episode was E M O T I N A L D A M A G E
Yep
tbf with the artistry of episode endings most of them are in some fashion. I can't wait for what happens next
@MAXYMUS121 TV your going to need to make a wisdom saving throw to not cry but you'll still get hit in the feels
"I'M BUILT FOR THIS!!" Hot Damn
This story is getting real and its giving me chills.
"So Naturally Civil War broke out."
Ahh yes, a tale as old as time...
"you're not defective because you have empathy, you're defective because you have too much"
i'm gonna fight that monkey
I routinely make my players suffer. I have never done anything as unimaginably sadistic as making someone make a save and having ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happen, at least... for a while.
My boys already arrived last week... and the delivery note got buried in the bottom of my mailbox so I didn't discover it until a few days later. They are lovely new roomates. They have only attempted to stab me twice.
Erina this episode: "As the leader, you have to be ready to make the tough decisions. Or I might..."
Erina a few episodes later: *HAMMER TIME*
Hey she made good on her words lmao
* flips over last page *
NO! WHERE'S THE REST OF IT!?!?
Seeing Sips with his cursed eye taking the focus as he talks about what he is and what he'll do... Just wow.
AND THE SPIRAL KEEPS SPIRALLING! Honestly a great story so far. The conclusion of the campaign is almost upon us! I really love this story. If it ends, have it end on a high note. And, when this story ends, what campaign do you want to talk about next?
Yep, after that whole glasses interaction, you cannot convince me otherwise that Masika and Jack are definitely getting shipped now xD
"I'm built for this" his built different
"Big whoopsie of pissing off an artificial god" "These really are my people" XDDD
Wow... Sips and Xanu make such an interesting comparison and duality. Xanu was built to be a god, to be perfect. But because of the abuse he has taken, and the love he received from Gothi helping to balance it sure, but at the end of the day, Xanu is angry. He feels like this is the only choice, to eradicate those who wronged him. Sips... did the same thing
After episodes to episodes, THIS one made me cry. The last time I cry is when Sips needs to explain *WHY* he needs to depart from the Fools Gold group and *why* goes on his own. It's just sad because I'm literally seeing multiple color change aura from him, I can tell through his emotions and expressions, he wants to do it but already puts his mindset of where he wants to be, which is sad because he *wants* to change, but with Xano in his head and *can* control Sips' body... he doesn't want to risk it. At all. It's sad...
how did this start from "haha look at this stupid thing that happened in my dnd campaign" to "GENOCIDE AND INTERPARTY CONFLICTS LETS GO WOOOOOO"
Xanu wants to kill all of the Foreclaimers, but it sounds like they may do that for him themselves, considering Masika's attitude and Elowen's hostility towards Masika. 😂
Gothi: I'm a druid people skills aren't my strong suit
As someone who relates to animals and struggles with talking to people I relate to this 😂
I love how stella's children name thier rocks, showing that the whole "Dwayne the Rock" thing from Old Gothi actually had an explanation that was entirely unnecessary but still a neat little addition.
