yoooo hi
Hell, yeah
when's the next collab with pm7? (that isn't only on patreon)
Which Pokemon has the most creepiest entries through each generation?
Also with Arbok in the Manga it changes its mark to be faster or attack power is raised. I remeber a fangame put this as an ability or you can capture its marked form like Pumpkaboo.
I imagine Professor Oak looking at his assistants, scared to figure out who wrote “seductively” on Jynx’s dex entry
😂😂😂
"Aide Jason, please keep your personal tastes out of the official papers, please. This is the third time this month, lad!"
I think Oak was the one who wrote that entry
Actually it's the 10 year olds Oak hires who write those entries. That's why their descriptions are mostly in the wild.
@@itsgonnabeanaurfromme I mean, some of his assistants could also be 10 year olds who often venture into the wild.
It all started in 1995 when a Game Freak guy said "hey, what if some of our entries are insane" in the rest is history.

This is now exactly how I imagine this played out at GameFreak 😂
So that’s how magcargo happened
I saw a meme about the lapras extinction thing, someone posted
“As a kid, I continuously breed, hatched and released Lapras because I read in a dex entry that they were going extinct” and then it shows the Pokémon moon dex entry saying they were saved, and then someone put that clip from Jurassic park that said “You did it, you crazy son of a b*tch you did it”
I saw that too
i remember hearing about that too. wasn't it's X or Y dex saying that "due to the interference of people, it's numbers have grown" or something like that?

Yup!! In the SWSH DLC pokedex, the Lapras entry said something like ‘thanks to dedicated effort, they are no longer endangered’. Which is so touching after the entry in RBY lol
"Alakazam can never forget what it has learned." Alakazam forgot how to use confusion
Gets doubly amusing when you consider that it can learn Amnesia. Alakazam forgot forgetting.
@@christopherfu2169 Alakazam can't learn amnesia, slowbro can.
it should probably stay that way considering alakazam having amnesia in gen 1 would be horrifying
Considering his limited moveset in the first generation, I would get rid of psywave first 😂

Oh so he can’t be killing it self by wondering this paradoooooo
Oh so
6:36 fun fact: this is not only canon, but vital to the plot of mystery dungeon
21:10 a fisherman caught one, but it had an entire colony of friends and they latched on in a long chain trying to pull it back home
I like how Alakazam "never forgets what it learns" despite the fact you can't learn more than four moves without forgetting one first.
Imagine being against an Alakazam and he just knows every move
Alakazam is an 5000 IQ pokémon, but you can catch one in legend Arceus, by spamming smoke bombs and throwing berries.
😂
@@AgnesBooth-zu7tw Have you ever had berries and smoke bombs thrown at you? It's a little disorienting...
On the bright side, Alakazam can take the term "never forget" very literally

I read them from my local library. @@User_Here414
That’s really forward thinking of them, considering that back in Gen 1 pokemon only had five base stats (Special attack and SpDef were a single Special stat)
Yep! Koga’s Arbok was part of a breed whose pattern was associated with increased healing ability. You know how everybody always points out “yoooo the arbok got cut in half in the Manga!”, like it’s some big edgy thing? Yeah, that was Koga’s Arbok, and it survived.
@@Hadaron people really fixate on that aspect of the manga for some reason. Honestly though the callback to that scene later on is genius and I will be difficult to convince otherwise.
Poliwhirl did the whole "frog that can do the breaststroke and front crawl" thing back in 1995, 19 years before One Piece's Water 7 arc, where the sumo frog can do the breaststroke and the front crawl. One Piece was either inspired by Poliwhirl or else there's some kind of inside joke about frogs that can swim that I don't know about in Japan...
I'm not sure but isn't breast stroke called frog crawl in some places?

The power-save belt is a necessary precaution for Machoke due to the fact that their “immeasurable” physical strength is not only a threat to others but to themselves and need to be regulated in healthy intervals however there are instances where Machoke willingly remove the belt in order to face truly mighty opponents
Its one of those situations where just because you can have all the power in the world doesn’t mean you need it

I second this!
Mikey's increasing frustration every time diamonds are mentioned was great. It feels like the person who wrote the Dex entries in the early days could only think of diamonds for examples of toughness but thought they were much softer than they actually are.
Friedrich Mohs is turning in his grave
Diamonds aren't Tough, they're hard. They're difficult to scratch, they're pathetically easy to break.
With as many times as I heard diamond I started to think of Rihanna’s song “Diamonds”. With that have a fabulous day and try to “shine bright like a diamond”.
Maybe that's why the *Diamond* & Pearl regional Dex is 151...
18:37 That kid that bred and released Lapras in a conservation effort was sucessfull, maybe too sucessful even
Yep,,Pokémon even brought it up in a future entirely. "Due to conservation efforts, this pokemon is no longer endangered"
"can you imagine slowly fusing something else of the course of years?" I think Mikey has never heard of a rat king.
That is not technically a fusion, since each individual remains as such. It’s more like a rat gordian knot
Yes. You should definitely turn this into a series. It basically already is. I'm surprised you didn't start doing these earlier.
I know this probably wasn't intentional, but the Dratini line discrepancy makes sense when you remember that LANCE IS NOT FROM KANTO!! Lance is from Johto!! In KANTO Dratini are so rare they were thought to be a myth, and in fact the only way you can catch one is by fishing in the Safari Zone! But in Johto, Lance's family cares for Dragons in the Dragon Den and therefore has access to as many as they want.
The out of universe reason is that they didn't want to spoil Lance's team lol
Thing is Kanto and Johto are neighbors. Why would the wildlife of one be considered mythical in the other?
@@Ryodraco probably for the same reason no one in Kanto knows what a steel type is despite magnemite being there lol or dark types despite pretty much all the dark types in Johto being actually found in Kanto.
But seriously, you'd be amazed how limited access to travel and such could affect the ability to understand wildlife. I didn't know foxes were omnivores until I was like 11 and they live literally everywhere. If I didn't already know what they were and you described an armadillo to me, I would think they were fake. And they are far from the weirdest animal out there, but I have never seen one irl, despite the fact that they live in the neighbouring country. Considering that Dratini is still rare in Johto, but isn't rare to Lance because he literally lives in the town where they ARE found (and remember that Blackthorn is extremely isolated. It's hard to get there!) it's just an everyday thing to him, but to everyone else it's incredible!
@@myheartismadeofstars thing is the info the dex gives here is from the perspective of people who research pokemon, not someone uneducated about wildlife. Even centuries ago scientists knew about pretty much every large animal that lived near their region, even if the scientists themselves never traveled outside it (remote places on other continents were a different matter).
The whole idea of Steel and Dark types being "recently discovered" seems to me like something that was retconned out.
More to the point, Lance is a member of Kanto's Elite Four, so Dragonite's behavior logically should not be written as if it is unknown what is true. It's not like he arrived yesterday.
@@Ryodraco Steel and Dark being "recently discovered" wasn't retconned out per se. The scientific research just hadn't reached that conclusion yet. It was likely a theory beforehand. Similar to how in Kalos, Sycamore theorizes on the origin of Mega Evolution coming from the ultimate weapon energy because he doesn't have enough proof to say its a fact.
No, Lance was the fisherman who discovered the dratinies

7:30 Somebody never saw Jigglytuff's special move in the Super Smash Bros games, where it can inflate itself about as big as the fighting arena. I think THAT'S what they meant by that.
As for Machamp, I think the belt is used to control it's overall strength. Machamp should've had a Hisuian regional variant that would make sense for this dex entry, especially if the Machamp had somehow found a way to control it's strength.
But that's just me.
But since Professor Oak created the Pokedex in the Red, Blue and Yellow games, maybe he was pulling the Hisuian professor and went by what he observed before the dex entries were corrected later on in future games.
“I feel like this has never happened, and they’re just making stuff up.”
The Pokedex in a nutshell
Fun fact there was a kid who played the gen 1 games and he spent his time breeding Lapras and releasing them because he saw the dex entry that said it was nearly extinct so a single child single-handedly brought back a species from near extinction
Breeding wasn’t a thing until gen 2

I like how Ivysaur's Pokédex contrasts with its Sprite art
They probably meant to say "front legs".
a lot of dex entries are contradiction, Wartortle's states that it's tail sticks out when hiding in its shell even though we see in anime that there is no tail when it's inside the shell

12:52 it makes sense when you consider that Machamp and Golem might’ve been intended to be a proto-Escavalier and Accelgor situation. Machoke goes from two hands to four and loses its reptilian maw as Machamp, and Graveler from four arms to two and gets the reptilian face that Machoke had when it becomes Golem!
So graveler stole machoke's lips and machoke stole graveler's arms

In one of the mystery dungeon games, a gengar in it was once human, but grabbed one of the tails on a ninetails
Yeah, but Gengar wasn't the one who got cursed. It was his Gardevoir because she sacrificed herself for him. Gengar was only turned into a pokemon because he ran away and abandoned her because the Ninetails was actually going to break the curse because of Gardevoir's sacrifice, but because Gengar ran away the curse wasn't broken and he turned into a pokemon.
Which...I mean...if nothing else that shows that not all Ninetails are completely unreasonable, lol. After all, this one was willing to let bygones be bygones soley because the trainers pokemon cared about him enough to sacrifice herself for him and the only reason it didn't was because the guy was so cowardly that he ran away and abandoned the pokemon who saved him.
Plus, if you think about it...if Ninetails was the one who turned him into a Gengar...and if they had the ability to choose which pokemon he turned into....choosing for him to turn into a Gengar could potentially be a form of mercy. Because since Gengar is a ghost type, he would potentially be able to live for the 1000 years it takes until the curse breaks so he could potentially be able to live long enough to be reunited with his Gardevoir...or at the very least live long enough to realize his mistake and repent for abandoning Gardevoir and save her by seeking out Ninetails and breaking the curse (like he did in the game).
Really love this video! Would love to see all the other games you missed out on!
Mikey, you already follow Alveus Sanctuary. Maya has shown Stompy’s little wings plenty of times-he even has a tiny tiny claw! Doduo having tiny wings makes 100% perfect sense imo.
Well, if you take pokemon mystery dungeon into account, the curse that the ninetales puts on you is turning you into a pokemon like what happened with Gengar.
Actually, that's not exactly true...
Because Gengar didn't actually get cursed. He was _SUPPOSED_ to be cursed, but his Gardevoir took the curse upon herself instead. The Ninetails was actually going to break the curse and let them both go free because of how much his Gardevoir cared about him, but Gengar ran away so Ninetails didn't break the curse. That being said, Gengar _DID_ turn into a pokemon _BECAUSE_ he ran away...but chances are that it wasn't actually related to him grabbing Ninetails tail. It was just because he ran away and abandoned Gardevoir that he was cursed to turn into a Gengar.
The real curse is more like going into a spiritual coma.
@@diamondseraph9369so basically ninetails’ curse just kills you until it’s lifted
@Tyranitar.
Yeah, pretty much, lol.
There are probably other variations of curses (like how the Ninetails possibly also turned Gengar into...well...a Gengar (the Ninetails said that it wasn't responsible for it and that Gengar did it to himself but that could also just be the Ninetails way of saying "yeah I cursed you but you kind of asked for it so it's not _MY_ fault since you brought this upon yourself" which would be a very Kitsune way of thinking lmao and since Ninetails is based on a Kitsune that adds up)
It might also be worth noting that in mythology, Kitsune are sometimes said to be able to manifest inside of/manipulate peoples dreams, so Ninetails curse effectively, putting you into a coma could potentially be kind of like saying that they're effectively haunting you in your sleep and making your life miserable for 1000 years for disrespecting it. Might not have been what the intended perspective was, but when you look at it like that, it does kind of line up.
Also, they sometimes feed off of souls, so I guess theres another interpretation of what's happening/what they could be doing...that one's probably worse though lol.
@@diamondseraph9369 Makes me wonder why the Kantonian Ninetales never got that Fairy typing after the Kalos games.
@Vigriff
I mean...fairy doesn't really make as much sense for Kantonian Ninetails. The best argument for it is probably that kitsune are mythological creatures (so kind of like fairytale in a way), that they can have some fairy like abilities (like some of them can have power over nature by way of plants or something and they can control certain elements found in nature like water and wind and whatnot...but regular Ninetails isn't really one of those since it's element is fire which isn't as associated with nature), and that they're tricksters which is common among the fae.
On the other hand ghost type would make a lot more sense since Kitsune are:
Spirits (not exactly ghosts per se, but they're spiritual creatures)
Some of them feast off of humans (be it like a succubus would (the most common way), literally just killing you and consuming your soul (not necessarily in that order), just kind of passively stealing your life force here and there to get by but not necessarily trying to actively harm you, some combination, ....literally ripping your pituitary gland out of your head and eating it because some people say they need it to survive (can't tell at this point if that's included in the original myths or not and honestly some of the stuff I've already mentioned have probably just been retroactively added to the myths but whatever...and anyway judging from the fact that their Chinese/Korean variants LITERALLY EAT PEOPLE/THEIR ORGANS it wouldn't surprise me if that's the case here to just on a lesser scale) you get the point.
They also have a tendency to possess people.
And not to mention they can literally be killed/defeated/have their illusions seen through and subsequently broken by people of faith and holy magic/blessed weapons and whatnot.
And kitsune are actually known to be the _NICE_ ones in comparison to their Chinese/Korean variants! Some of them don't even do most if not any of the things mentioned above and if they do it's usually either because they literally have to in order to survive and/or because they just want to prank people but aren't actually intending to hurt anyone.
They can also potentially just keel over and die if they get too depressed (supposedly negative emotions can weaken/kill them if they dwell on them long enough...but that's just what google tells me lol) or if the magical ball they carry around breaks (maybe....depending on the myth).
Anyway, my point is that while they may seem like they have a lot in common with the fae and while their personalities might seem to match up better with the fae they're really closer to ghosts especially considering that kitsune literally are spirits.
Fun fact: The thing going on with Lapras is happening IRL with elephants in Botswana. There's a huge controversy about them starting to allow elephant hunting again in order to control the population.
19:00 ish I remember a little while ago, like a few years now, someone on 4chan said they breed and released their lapras back into the wild because, "they were endangered" so I guess it kinda worked a little too well

Concerning the Speed Stat, I've always interpreted it as the Pokemon's close quarters reflexes, how quickly it can react in the pitch of battle, rather than an indication of the top speed it can achieve.
That's what I've been saying, like the "mach speed" Pokémon probably need a lot of space to build up speed
still doesn't make sense, how can pokemon designed after jet planes react slower than a fat cat, have you seen how lazy a fat cat is, how does Decidueye shoot arrow that fast using his reflexes when he has speed stat of 60
@@theamazingspooderman2697
1. The pokemon was designed after jet planes IN THE REAL WORLD, not in the game. And jet planes don't have reflexes, dude.
2. Cats are well known for having quick reflex. What are you on about?
3. Reflexes have nothing to do with how fast arrows work. Have you never seen someone shoot an arrow?
That's been my take as well. That Speed in Pokemon is more akin to Dexterity in DnD, than actual Movement Speed.
@@itsgonnabeanaurfromme ofc they don't have reflexes but if a jet plane had reflexes it definitely would be faster than a fat cat
reflexes are literally required to shoot arrows fast and precisely, you need to perceive your enemy to hit it, how will you perceive your enemy if you don't have fast enough reflexes? example? Hawkeye could shoot Loki with his arrow in Avengers 1 even when he was flying on an alien vehicle bcz he wasn't that fast but Hawkeye couldn't shoot Quicksilver with his arrow bcz Quicksilver is way too fast for Hawkeye's reflexes

I think there are two ways to interpret the Ninetales 1,000 year curse.
Option 1: you’re forced to live 1,000 years after the tail pull. That doesn’t sound bad at first but you got to think of the implications. The human body isn’t designed to last that long, your senses will fail you, your body will go lame, you’ll lose your memory, you’ll be reduced to a husk counting down the seconds praying for death until you are finally released from this curse. It’d be kinda like Porky Minch in Mother 3 where he becomes so old that he needs a mech to do literally anything.
Option 2: it’s a familial curse that will start with you and continue through your bloodline until the 1,000 years ends.
Both of these options are horrifying because you either become a living mummy or you ruin the lives of your descendants before they’re even born.
Yeah, pokemon can be horrifying sometimes....
pokemon fans will literally make a headcanon out of anything
"PokEmoN FaNs WiLl MakE a heAdCanoN oUt Of AnythInG"
It said 1000 year curse and literally nothing else with no explanation what do you expect people to do
I choose option 2 bc I don't want kids so it wouldn't work anyway 👉😎👉
I would only hope that the ninetales doesn't know that and automatically go for option 1-
According to this legend, a greedy Trainer once entered a sacred dungeon, known to contain many rare Pokémon. The Trainer encountered a Ninetales and crudely grabbed one of its tails. The Trainer was supposed to receive a curse as a result of this action, but his Gardevoir took the curse, doing its duty as a Gardevoir by protecting its master, which startled the Ninetales. The Trainer, horrified, fled the scene in fear of the curse. Ninetales told Gardevoir that the Trainer would one day become a Pokémon, which would bring on many natural disasters.
17:40 I like this one because it's literally just something real starfish do

I used to watch your vids along time ago on a different account, you have evolved so much!
(Pun unintended)
I knew exactly what was wrong the instant Grunty Boi made that pained sound. That is exactly the "my back" sound.
Btw Mikey, the imperial/other world metric thing is also why the specific number 220lbs was used for Tinkaton and stuff - that's just what the very normal rounded 100kg is in lbs.
Also, completely forgot about that Muk entry - yeah, Muk apparently was made as a toxic-sludge-covered monster in mind at first, and they just dropped it and made it made out of sludge? Funny how some sentiments changed in just one generation.
Yes, please make more of these!
Great video! I would like gen 2 next. 🙏
I remember Dusclops' Violet entry sounding interesting to me, since it says that Dusclops' true form might be a bright red eye inside it, but no one has seen such a thing
I'm betting the thumbnail might change, but this is just too good. 🙃😂
Grunty Boi: I always get up in the morning, grunting like my name was- well actually... 😀
Mikey: No wonder Jolteon is so popular it's in touch with it's emotions.
Me: Now I love Jolteon even more. 🥰🥰🦊💛⚡
It is a good video with a good theme.
Please continue
My favourite entry was the Arbok one! Loved the deep dive into the pattern variations.
"We should kill some lapras" had me rolling on the floor laughing to death
That’s an effective method. Now… what do Lapras find funny?
A Wigglytuff inflating infinitely could just become as big as the universe
We might even already be living inside of a really big Wigglytuff
Did you know Pokemon was inspired by Capsule Monsters from the show "Ultraseven" when sevens fights monsters, sometimes he uses the help of Agira, Windom, and Miclas.
I just heard “Gotta catch the mall” and i cant stop laughing
21:20 probably the fisherman caught the dratini, which led to the place being studied, leading to the colony being discovered.
19:19 "Hello everyone, it's a pleasure to be here on your show today."
Hope To see more videos like these! :)

The Original Mystery Dungeon game and the DX remake has this as part of the plot.
The Curse may be Random, but one Curse would be turning into a Pokemon in a world only for Pokemon.
This is what Team Meanies Gengar had happened to him.
12:43 The reason Golem changes from Graveler like that is because it crossed DNA with the reptilian looking Machoke when traded hence why Machamp gains the 4 arms from Graveler, it's mandatory to trade a Machoke and Graveler to evolve them but it's a nice detail for them being early game compared to haunter who comes a bit later
Then again, Gengar has that whole doppelganger thing going on with Clefairy, but I'm not sure if that one is actually a confirmed one
I would love to see more crazy entries, and also I would love your opinion on Dorkly’s Literal Pokédex entries, as they cover some of these two, and some are hilarious, but I love your stuff to, make more crazy entries
I would love to see more videos like this, each covering a different generation then maybe having the last video covering the 10 most interesting or disturbing dex entries, from your opinion
