The narrowboat journey from the iconic Foxton Locks to the lovely small town of Market Harborough is far, far slower by narrowboat than car, but so worth the trip down the Market Harborough Arm of the Grand Union Canal. Join us for our journey down the locks, a look at the remains of the inclined plane, shopping at the floating market and our slow cruise (past @BoatTime!)

That’s wonderful praise Randy as it’s totally the mood I am always aiming for. There are so many different types of boat vlogs that we enjoy, some with a little history, some with a lot of chatting, some with no music, just the sounds of the engine and water and nature, and some like ours with music, and we love them all! One of my favourite parts of the editing process is choosing the music 😊

Fascinating history about the incline. I watched your previous video about those locks, but this sped up version was fantastic! My gosh, what a trip, and a lot of work and precision. Ahhhhh, "bottom lock". 🙂 What a wonderful cruise, the music is gorgeous, so relaxing. Your boat is so beautiful.

Lovely video. I was always a fan of those piling lined banks. You knew the depth was always good and the piling hooks (paper clips) were so easy to drop into those gaps and secure the boat. Wonderful music you add to your videos. Compliments the ease of life of cruising the canals. Was trying to explain to an Aussie about the serenity of the canal network. It’s one of the things that just doesn’t exist here in Oz.

Lovely video and we have recently felt we were getting to know and like Jasper - so sad to note his passing. They say all dogs go to Heaven. Let's hope that is true.

@@onedaymoreaboard Yes, by virtue of your vlogs you will have a lot of memories to look back on. I hardly have any photos and no videos of my parents and not even a photo of pets I had in the past. (Actually I don't have many of my son who lives 6,000 miles away in UK either. He hates being in photos, let alone videos.)

Another beautiful blog, Caroline and Pete. Your music selections are always a calming treat. Here in Houston on the last work day before the Christmas holiday, it was 60° during lunch, but the arctic plunge is blowing in and we will be in the teens by morning. It's already below freezing in Dallas and 4° in Waco, as the front has already passed over them. Oh, I enjoyed seeing Jasper frolicking with Poppy, but I identified with Hamish, as I would prefer to watch. Merry Christmas to you and your family, furry and not. Leigh
Hamish makes us laugh how he just stands and observes the goings on! Although Poppy is making him play with her more now that Jasper has gone. I’ve been reading about the crazy low temperatures and everyone’s Facebook posts in Houston and remember how our palm trees died in the last snow, and then came back to life! Stay warm 😊

You showed the wideboat at 9:10, I’m sure they are super limited on where they can go. Why do some prefer wider boats with fewer navigational pathways?
There are still quite a few wider canals and locks that can accommodate widebeams, and the compromise with the extra space is worth it for a lot of people. We passed our first moving widebeam on a canal today and breathed in 😂
Lovely vlog. How do you get the keys you need for the bridges?
The keys are issued at lots of Canal and River Trust locations. The same key opens bridges and facilities, like toilets and water points. Thanks for watching 😊
