    It was wonderful to see and tour the inside the narrow boats and take a closer look at the layouts and design! But just a side note - we don't really need to see inside all of the cupboards and drawers. Unless they contain the electrical system or the washer/dryer, the views of opening and closing the storage really isn't why we are tuning in to see. Hope that is ok to suggest.

    • @onedaymoreaboard
      @onedaymoreaboard  Год назад +2

      Thanks for watching! It really depends on the viewer as to what they need to see, and I filmed these tours from the point of view that we had when we were searching for a boat, and then designing ours when made the decision to buy new. We wanted to see all of the available storage and different options, which is why these tours went into so much detail opening all of the cupboards and drawers. We appreciate that some people will not want as much detail but I hope you understand our reasoning. 😊

    It has to be Boat ‘Miss Vida’ 😊. But then we are bias because we are her very proud owners. We were also privileged that she is Oakums first ‘2023 Model & Build’ and the first of her design to debut as the showboat at the BoatLife Show. Thanks to everyone for the lovely comments, it makes her even more special. #Oakumsfamily

      Can’t get my head round the preference for having the room with the best views ie the front cabin taken up with the room you go to sleep in! I love sitting in my saloon with the bow doors open to my lovely conservatory- the well deck.
      The Oakums boat is lovely but for me the space taken up with the boot room would be better used in the galley, where I feel it’s a little cramped.

    • @JulieandMartinonRIB
      @JulieandMartinonRIB Год назад +1

      @@gillgregory6327 Yes, that’s exactly how we feel Gill, we love sitting in the lounge with our bow doors open, especially in summertime, like you say, it’s like having a conservatory. And in the winter months, the well deck becomes a boot room of sorts, as we use the bow as our entrance mostly, so can leave muddy boots and hanging coats there to dry. We are outnumbered though lol, as the most preferred layout is, by far, the reverse layout, nice to be different eh! 😊

    Love the Oakums Narrowboat. Have seen it in a couple other Vlogs. The one thing that keeps catching my eyes is the couch when you pull it out. Does the gap at the foot stay there? That looks like a potential hazard. Love the boot room and then sliding door between that and the galley. Must help with drafts. Caroline and Pete, you did an excellent job of showcasing these boats. Can dream about living on the Widebeams….especially the Eurocruiser….but not cruising with them 😳. Thanks for doing this, great job.

    • @onedaymoreaboard
      @onedaymoreaboard  5 месяцев назад

      The engine is typically under the engine board on the stern deck on modern boats. The old traditional boats have the engine just after the boatman's cabin, more towards the middle, but there are not that many built in that style any more. If you take a look at the Crock Boat Show video that I filmed last year you will see a walk through of a newer boat built in the traditional style with this layout, fast forward to the 15:55 mark ruclips.net/video/78H4QpNiOi4/видео.html. • @onedaymoreaboard

      There are quite a few narrow canals on the network that widebeam boats cannot fit on, so your increase in living space compromises your ability to explore the whole network, but lots of boaters are happy with that. Unfortunately most of the boat builders do not show their engines under the engines under the engine board as that is the point of access for the boat. One of the builders had actually switched out the engine board for a Perspex clear sheet so you could see the engine at the Crick Boat Show, and there were also manufacturer stands showing the engines out of boats. The Crick Boat Show is aimed solely at the inland waterways boat market, with far more relevant stands to narrowboating while this BoatLife show was aimed more at the sea faring market.
