    Thanks Kat and Mark, great phrases!!!. I didn´t know the ´'Thaw out' verb for defrost, so it was a great new pick. Thanks a lot! Kat you hair looks amazing today! Nothing to do with todays vocabulary, but it's a kindly feedback. I can tell nothing on Mark's hair, however both of you are great looking, great english teachers. Blessings.

    I'm at a loss for words and I can't thank you enough my great teachers. My English skills have been improving since I found this wonderful channel. I have a question here. What's the difference between Cool down and Cool off? Or do they have the same meaning?

      to cool down and to cool off are very similar yes!
      we can use them both for bringing the temperature down and also when someone is angry or upset and they need to cool down or cool off.

    • @highlevellistening

      Some very popular (and clear) English films would be some classic rom-coms, like: Love Actually, Notting Hill. If you like comedy, some of my favourite British comedies are Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead!

    Why did you use article the after preposition like “up the onion and garlic”? Is it rule? Thanks

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  22 часа назад +1

      Good question.
      We use "the" to mean a specific one.
      Because we're cooking in the kitchen we say: "[the] garlic." : "[the] chicken]" : [the] onions" etc, because we mean the specific ones that we have in our fridge, in our home, or on the table in front of us.
      We also need "the" because it's a specific amount required by a recipe. We need a specific amount of ingredients, (500grams, 1 kilo etc.) and "the" also specifies the exact amount required for the dish. Hope that makes sense!

    I appreciate your help ,Your videos really helpful❤❤
    I memorize the phrasal verbs and my listening, reading, writing improves
    But my speaking skill didn't, when I watch TOEFL test videos , i really struggle with speaking, my brain stops and i take a lot of time to say a word and my words are messy.
    I am trying to solve this problem by Watch a story and tell it 😢 but I don't sure it will help me when I am in the test
    Sorry to annoy you 😢

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  28 дней назад +2

      You're not annoying us at all! Don't worry it's completely normal that most students feel much more comfortable in listening, reading and writing before they feel more comfortable in speaking. It takes way more practice mimicking, repeating and saying the words out loud to get the same speaking skills as your other skills. Keep practicing and moving forward, speaking out loud for more time day by day!
