I lost my mother of 81 years the same day Tom Petty died.....in her CD collection were 2 Tom Petty CD's...who would have ever thought?....He touched so many hearts through so many generations, my mom's included...Thank You both for all the memories....

Very Cool story Brian! Very sorry for your loss....back in the 80s when I played in a bar band it was strange to look out and see my elderly mother and her lifelong friend had strolled in and were having a drink and watching the show! And we were very hard rockers.....
The older and wiser you get, the more of life you know, the more times you’ve been kicked around in the school of hard knocks, the more you appreciate Tom’s storytelling.
I happened to open my 45s holder/container that day and I Need to Know 45 was right on top. Wow...
The talent he had was amazing, but what I love is that he always seemed so appreciative of everything he was able to do and that he never took anything for granted. I've seem him so many times and he always gave the fans 100%

I'm still having a hard time believing he is really gone. I love his music so much. A fan since the Hard Promises album. Swingin is one of my favorites of his.
hi jody uk man here .i have the greatest respect for tom ,he touched all peoples emotions what a wonderful human being he was to give us the pleasure of having one of ,if not in my opinion the best ever in my generation .sadly missed by all who loved him .never be anyone who could touch him of today

Nearly 3 years on and it’s still unbelievable he’s gone, as far as I’m concerned the music died that day, he was by far the greatest singer I ever had the honour to see live and I’ve seen a lot of the greats , a humble and incredible man so sadly missed

My two most bestest songs of TP's even with strobe. What more is there? Ya know I had a dream years after Petty passed with him in it. He was standing in a line of people (or souls) to my right (in color). I think I used to know them, but have passed, and Tom was in the middle of this line while looking to his left smiling at me with that big cool smile. Love it. It seemed so real I can't forget it. Just saying, Lol. RIP Tom
It's harder and harder to watch some of these final performances just knowing how much he had to have been hurting. When you care for someone it makes it even more
difficult.......it's like you can feel his pain.
I have suffered with chronic pain for several years and despite pain medications, it doesn't get better as time goes by......especially when he continued to
perform and turned the hip crack into
an all out frscture$

I came from Melbourne Australia to see him in Memphis on 8th May. Absolutely amazing concert and the fans were just simply lovely well mannered and cultured people. Just simply a wonderful unforgettable night in all honesty. Hit me with a sledge hammer when my daughter told me he had passed away. So sad and impacted my life as well as many others too.
I thought he heard the news from Las Vegas when they said cardiac arrest, omg my mother was also terminal this day . Sepsis a few days later, went to hospice a Dec 25,2017, passed 12/31/17! Being her care giver, she would never ask for any med's. I can see Tom' @ Red Rock's limp. So sad he passed, he got me thru several rough years in my life his songs always touched my heart

Priceless & Timeless performance considering....Tom's hip joint pain would have been excruciating here make no error. How come you may ask. Got my one good right leg [I'm a trauma hemipelvectomy - entire left leg amputated at the highest level hip and pelvis amputated as a result of my near-death motorcycle accident here in New Zealand in 1990 when I was 26] hip joint replaced in 2010 as it was totally worn out and I can now clearly easily recall the pain I was in at the time but I was only 45 whereas Tom would have been 65 here so that's 20 more years older, and the older we become the more we tend to feel pain. While I'm on the subject of pain, ever since my motorcycle accident and becoming a complete left leg amputee I have suffered from chronic group nerve [neuromas] pain around the stump area - even though there isn't a stump. Let me inform you of the intensity and type of pain it is - well lets take the doctor scale pain meter - 'on a scale of 1 - 10' what would you say your level of pain is? Well on occasions I have been rolling on the floor reeling in nerve pain and screaming out in pain...so I'd say the level would have been 11. Only a decent 10mg shot of morphine would ease it and on the subject of morphine, well all the time I was in the ICU [Intensive Care Unit] of 2 hospitals after my motorcycle accident so that's about 3 weeks, my body was infused with the maximum amount of morphine my body could 'manage' for pain relief. So I believe I have a slight indication of what intense pain feels like. So in that aspect I totally take my hat off and bow down to Tom Petty here because he delivered as professional as it could get performance here when he could have easily delivered a 'juiced out - stoned out of his tree - what I am doing here completely incoherent' level of performance. And that is what defined Tom Petty for me. A man who fought for his rights his entire life. Make no error - there was no 'bed of roses' lifestyle for Tom Petty. He defied the odds. He could have given up easily and become 'an also ran' musician when record companies attempted to bankrupt him back in the day. But that was never ever going to be Tom Petty. Instead he FOUGHT BACK. Do you know how difficult that would have been? Small time musician up against a multi mega million dollar record company? That's how and why Tom wrote his song; 'I Won't Back Down' from; 'Full Moon Fever' in 1989 because he had guts and a farking lot of it. Tom Petty kind of gave the impression a decent strong southerly wind would blow him over pretty easily...but that's totally the opposite to his true persona. Which is why I fell head over heels in love with his music ever since first hearing 'Refugee' on New Zealand radio around October 1979 - when I was 15/16. I was hooked & addicted to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers from the first time I heard 'Refugee'. Ok Ok this is supposed to be about Mudcrutch. Well it was only after first listening to a live version of 'Crystal River' that got me on to it/them. That live version of 'Crystal River' meeeeeeelllllllooooooows me out sooo gooood. It's about as potent as it can get for relaxation for me. I don't even need a toke anymore to help me mellow out. Just crank out the live version of 'Crystal River' and away I float....down the river....

This looks like one of the better shows from his last tour. Tom's energy was good from all the videos I've seen. Maybe he was feeling pretty good? I've read that he was in a lot of pain at many of the shows on this tour.... I almost bought tickets to see this show. :-( Would've been the 4th time I saw him. RIP
Amazing too when you consider that he started with a hair line fracture of the hip. Amazing that at this stage of the tour that he could put on a performance like this especially when the injury had progressed into a full fracture. He was also in the first stages of emphysema too. He must've been in a hell of a lot of pain and discomfort. A sad loss to us all

That's not exactly a fair statement. Howie was an awesome singer and in many ways irreplaceable, God bless his soul,. But the Webb Sisters are awesome singers, and songwriters too. Oh and by the way, they also play instruments. The complete package. If you want to play the comparison game, Howie was never as accomplished a bass player as Ron Blair.

That's not a fair comparison. Howie made a fantastic effort over many years with The Heartbreakers and became an institution in that respect. Charley and Hattie did not have the same experience with the band, but still did a great job as a choir. I think they added an extra nice tone to the choir that the band had not had before. Not necessarily better, but interesting and slightly different. However, they fitted very well into the band both as a choir and by virtue of their appearance. Cute girls :)

Weird, Mike's Sitar-guitar doesn't seem to have any sitar strings. Maybe not that weird ... Next thing you know, the redhead is a better singer. I might be a touch biased. She's my favorite.
She and her sister were on a lot of Leonard Cohen performances, ( I'm pretty sure) though she is with a new person here. Great voice:-)

I feel like the band should've held some sort of intervention and said they wouldn't tour anymore until he got it taken care of.
I saw TP and the HBs 16 times over 40 years and once with Dylan and I can promise you this was the worst they ever sounded and was their worst shows meaning this tour. Why he brought those girls in and decided to introduce every song is beyond me. His fans know his songs and certainly don’t need a intro, and beyond that the girls sound terrible. To bad, they were always the best band ever in concert before this tour.
