Personnel need weeks of training before they can get close to using the 81mm weapon.

My father was a member an 81MM Mortar Crew with “M” Company of the 180th Infantry Regiment in WWII. In 511 days of combat, I wonder how many mortar rounds he fired in almost two years of steady combat and the eight major battles of WWII he fought in.
Enjoy gents - those first few rounds are a rush!
Very professional army, amazing soldiers. Respect from Pakistan.
Pakistan...the zestpool of the world
Good to see some support from other countries

It’s great relief firing the worst bit is carrying the kit with your own kit weighs an absolute tonne
The one guy we did see with his foot on the baseplate, to bed it in had the wrong foot on it. He was the number two, and had his left foot on the baseplate. When he dropped the round, he lent forward of the barrel. Obviously still a long way to go. But keep up the good work guy's, well done!
Im an American served 20 years on Four Deuce, 60's, 81's and 120's. To this day I use the safety pin ring of the first round I fired in Combat for my key chain. Cool video. High angle Hell Death from above. The most casualty producing weapon organic to an Infantry Company.
I knew a couple of blokes who served together in falklands and he said his pal spenny was that mustard on his L16 he could land one in a 220lt water barrel in two stokes depending on the first one had'nt knocked it over on the first try...
Our first round was a dud.
Swiss Army, Hinterrhein, 1979.
12 cm mortars Recruit School
All heroes scampered when told « turn it over and let round slip out »
This is awesome
2:20 Probably nervous, but note the brush. Carbon/unburnt propellant can dirty the tube, and it won't slam down properly.
I no the lads are new but my 81mm card was 6 weeks long. Seein the drills differ between regiment's is worlds apart. Feeding rounds into the barrel with both hands at the top of the round is wrong cup the fin with one hand and the other hand at the top wouldn't have had the hang round if he was taught rgt the first time round. 🤯🤯
I see the bipod has changed from 30 years ago.
Don’t panic! Interesting, quite fun finding the target, I should imagine.👍👍👍🇬🇧winner takes all.
Very interesting thank you
Great job lads!
Thankyou for your SERVICE GOD BLESS YOU 💎🇬🇧💎
I see Gary Neville has been moonlighting as a mortar instructor!
hahahaha! my thoughts exactly
Warcop range. I was walking on that range recently, but over 8Km east. This was on a day when there was no live firing and I had an MOD permit!).
This spot is at NY742174
Hang fire would get you crated and also beasted into the ground, booted off number two when I was in mortars
LETS GOOO THE ONE I BEEN WAITING ON
Hmmmm, l wonder why they didn’t use 3 Para’s Mortars as an example, oh yeah....
Hahaha lol..
CSM Sean Lucy Depot Para early 80s on the parade square shouting "for fucks sake send that man up to 3 Para mortar plt to have some sense shagged into him"
Haha 😂 lol
Because theirs more to the British Army than just Para's.....
Barrels need cleaning Lewis 😂
he's too short to reach the muzzle our Jim
It’s a fearsome weapon system. I read you can’t hear the bombs coming on the receiving end, unlike artillery which makes a whizz prior to impact giving you a chance to dive to the ground. But I may be totally wrong, I’m not a bombardier.
I remember in Canada on BATUS we fired illuminating rounds from our Guns ( M109) then the whole sky lit up.
The infantry fired their Mortars but when we fired for them the difference was staggering.
hated scrubbing out lol oh and Drink the Greenie
1:46 danger det
"complete their cardray"
Cadre not cardray
That bloke was bricking it
Get some !
0.40 Kingsmen Phillip Munnik. OK they are Kingsmen but is an individual soldier not a Kingsman? Are both not King's men or King's man? I can understand it being shortened to a single word but not the lack of change from plural to singular.
Mortar man for 8 years..it gets good when you can put 5 rounds in the air before the first round lands..that's 40 rounds of high explosive from 8 tubes landing on your position, that's bound to ruin your day..
Mortar man for 8 years did itall
does any body know where this was filmed???
pretty sure its Warcop might be wrong though
@@pedeepete nah , no way, it wasn’t raining 🤣

Reservists, I think. Weekend warriors. Not the Spartans, but the Corinthians. They still turn out to face down despotism.
Thebans, I'd say. What despotism? Of a CVD scared PM?
Shut up and take my application!
2:58 South African there.
Where?
There are many South Africans that serve in the British Army.
I would say at least 500 serve in the U.K Armed Forces at present.
