The girlfriend of a star means nothing to WWE. Remember when Lawler walked out over the Kat being shitcanned? WWE doesn't care how popular you are, your gf is not safe from being fired.
Unless you are the Bella's
Lawler was an announcer tho... How about Steve Austin and Debra, Cena and Nikki or HHH and Chyna? More along those lines. Its a main event star, usually the company finds something for his gf/wife to do, even if she's whack.
Yea ok tell John Cena that or HHH their girls wasn’t going anywhere! But they have yank not pull!
She’s clearly a loon as well. Being friends w/ her on Facebook is akin to belonging to some dumbed-down QAnon Group. 🤦♀️
They kept Lana and got rid of Rusev
I didn’t agree with JR on this one
When a talent asks for more money that they deserve they're "naive" when an executive does it, it's fine.
Seems like it
To be fair, you've got the fact that Trump may have been paid a substantial amount of money and Vince didn't wanna spend as much on Bobby. I'd say 250k for a night's work is more than great. Granted, I agree that executives getting 250k for barely doing shit is overkill.
Whenever JR says they’re naive it isn’t fully focused on the fact that they want to be paid more money. They’re called naive because when they complain about whatever amount they got paid they rarely have an argument to back up why the amount they made wasn’t enough. JR has spoken many times about times where someone had an issue with what they made but they made a case for why they contributed to the shows performance and why that warranted more money and that he’d often times end up paying them more when they make that case.
There’s a difference if you come in as a talent and point to things you did and point to various measureable metrics that resulted from what you did and why that deserves more money versus challenging the amount you were paid and not having any reason to justify why you weren’t paid enough. If you come in upset about what you made but don’t have any business measurables to make a case for why you should’ve made more than that is naive and clearly not based on any metric but rather just thinking that you should’ve made more because you wanted to get paid more or somebody told you that you should’ve made more and is going to naturally be seen as naive. Many talents have spoken about times they disagreed with what they were paid, took it to JR and made a business case for why they deserve more, and that there were lots of times he’d agree with the argument they made and get them some more money. But an executive getting it may seem bad but take a Trump if he didn’t like whatever he was paid. He’d be able to point to the business records they did and that his role directly contributed to this revenues to clearly see why he deserved the amount he wanted.
Bobby wasn’t labeled naive because he wanted to be paid more. He was labeled naive because he was upset and saying he hadn’t been paid enough but didn’t have any rationale to back up his argument that he wasn’t paid enough. There’s s clear difference between saying hou shouldve made more just because you wanted more versus saying you should’ve made more and having business metrics you can point to to verify your claim. He was a guy who didn’t know the business and just thought he should make more because he wanted more. Not gonna be an argument you’ll win often.
He was pulling in a million that year, so a quarter of a million compared to where he was BACK THEN was good. This is in the era, well a few years later, that Jarrett was paid around $150k when he wasn't under contract to come back in and drop the belt to Chyna, and that was considered exorbitant and he was holding it hostage for money. He came back a WHOLE lot better than when he left because of the experience he gained, like Cody Rhodes did. Plus payments across the board went up in 10 years.
250K was not for one day's work. There were weeks and months of buildup into that match, and Lashley's work over the year to get over enough to be in that match.
So it's not 250K for "one day's pay" that is an oversimplification on the matter.
You think he wasn't getting paid for those weeks and months of buildup? Bollocks.
@@davidgraham8299 WWE superstars are significantly underpaid. Quite frankly, I am shocked when I see the networth for some of these guys.
An example being Randy Orton. He has a reported networth of 11 million dollars in 2021.
The guy won his first world title in 2004 and has been a significant player in WWE ever since then... Yet he has been paid out less than 1M a year. According to his networth he has been paid around 500K a year since he's been in WWE!!!.... Now yes, I imagine he has spent a significant amount of money in that time... But even if you add 50% to his worth, he'd still only be at around 1M per year that he's been in WWE.
Yes... Lashley was paid during the buildup, but it wouldn't have been anything to go home about. That 250K + tv payouts is a joke considering his place on the WM23 card.

After that Cena match, I don’t blame Bobby for leaving
FACTS
Lashley shouldn’t have been in the ring with cena
@@kamfisher1714 Why not
Kam Fisher I beg to differ Lashley definitely should’ve been in the ring with and should’ve beaten Cena he was getting over and getting very hot at that point.
Donnell Adams Bobby in the same ring as 2007 cena ? Give me a break
I guarantee you Austin made more than 250,000 for that match and he was just the referee! I would have been upset as well, it’s the same thing that CM punk complained about his match with Taker was phenomenal, but did he make the same as Hunter, Rock, or Taker? No he made significantly less.
JoshJonesJr1 Ya do realize that was fresh off the longest title reign in the PG era, and the only reason why he wasn’t booked as the true main event is simply because they would book Cena’s storylines over his, mind you Punk is the WWE Champion. Shit is backwards no way around it and still was top 3 most popular in the company
@@Icecube647 Cena was elevated over Punk because he was obviously a greater draw. Even during that stint when Punk was over, he was nowhere close to being the draw that Cena was. If he was, he could've navigated his way into a three headed story line.
Punk said he'd return to wrestling for a great story line or of the pay is right. Well, what storyline will they use for Punk considering he didn't get over until he broke the 4th wall? Also, no one is lining up to offer Punk anything near what he wants so good luck with that.
@@atlien1988 Well yeah when you constantly book over him that’s what happens, Punk was still mega over just his stories was always shuffled down in the card, even when cena hijacked Zack ryder’s story and completely took over, ofc they’ll be the bigger star if they’re constantly positioned that way. It’s exactly why now they always involve people like Charlotte Flair in title matches 95% of PPVs cause she’s always been positioned that way so the audience views her differently than most others regardless of if she’s liked or not
Yes, but the thing is, if Punk vs Taker headlined that event alone, no way it does over a million buys. If Rock and Cena did, it still would. Those are facts.
Punk and Taker stole the show, but in terms of drawing money, they were firmly behind HHH/Lesnar and Rock/Cena. All you need to do is compare buyrates for SS 2013 co headlined by Punk/Lesnar and SS 2012 headlined by Lesnar/HHH.
And he shouldn't have been paid like them.
250K for an event that grossed over 26 million dollars ...WM23 at the time was WWE highest grossing event and PPV Lashley was absolutely right he was under paid. He was in the main event, of the headlining show, in the profile match. .
He wasn't. He was basically a nobody then. He didn't sell any tickets or PPVs. He was lucky to be in that spot, it put him on the map forever. Trump, Vince, Austin, Cena, Michaels, Taker and Batista sold WM 23. And in that order too. Lashley was just there to play second fiddle in the foreground for the real show that was going on in the background.
@@PiCheZvara I wouldn't say in that order. Mine is Trump, Vince, Cena, Taker, Michaels, Austin, Batista.
What you're forgetting is that him being in that match isn't what drew. It was Trump and McMahon. So in reality he was pretty fortunate to get that payday.
Another screw up by vince. They should have pushed him to the top yrs ago instead stuck with brock lesnor brilliant
@vincentrich - Banned But Not Forgotten been longer than that but my point is in that time they where doing the stupid story with lana and rusev. Instead of putting him in the title picture when brock was champion instead they kept bringing Goldberg back stupid.
Say what you want, whether what another wrestler told him (or what he heard) was the truth or not, I bet you he found out what others were making and it was more than him. That's the only reason I could think that someone would think that 250k was a low payoff.
Exactly, it's all relative. If you made $250,000 for a days work that sounds great but if the janitor or cleaning lady made $400,000 that same day it's a problem.
This is why companies start everyone off with the same wages these days, less chance of creating chaos and having people walk out.
Hogan got 1,000,000 for the Warrior match...Warrior insisted on a 1,000,000 match. Vince wasn't happy, but he caved. That was 1988 or so...HTF is 250k for a main event slot at Wrestlemania fair?? People are saying it's one day's work, and blah blah blah...Floyd Mayweather grabbed 450,000,000 for one day's work as a cut of the revenue he generated as the main event.
Good someone sees the bigger picture vince would make 250k just on t shirts on a wrestlemania
One thing I would say is that Lashley wasn't important to what that match was. In the case of Hogan vs. Warrior, they were both drawing to make that as grandiose as it was. People wanted to see these 2 over the top characters battle it out. Whereas, the draws for that match were Vince, Trump, and Steve Austin as the guest referee.
Bobby and Umaga were interchangeable. You could've had Chris Masters, John Morrison, Finlay, JBL, William Regal, Snitsky, Shane Helms or almost any other competent worker to do that match. The match itself could've been anything from a 6 man tag to a cage match with both the ECW and IC belts on the line and it really wouldn't have mattered. The attraction of the match was that either Trump or Vince would get their head shaved and Stone Cold hitting some stunners.
If it's simply an argument of fairness, how much did all the guys in the Money in the Bank ladder match make? Sure, that match wasn't the massive attraction the Hair vs Hair match was, but those guys took a beating and worked almost twice as long as Bobby and Umaga did. Did they even make as much as Bobby? Bobby's match was pretty light with a lot of running around and shenanigans. The 8 guys in the MITB match left chunks of their career in that ring.
@@dcknyoaho I'm pretty sure stone cold got a big chunk of that pay day
Jarrett made sure he got $350k to drop IC title to Chyna as well.
What drew for that match? Was it Bobby Lashley or was it the Billionaires? There is your answer.
Kevin : Shawn what’d you get for your Survivor Series pay off?
Shawn : $60,000
Kevin : What the fuck! Me & Scott worked the whole match, you came in & threw a few super kicks. We only got $45.
*Hangs up*
*Calls JJ Dillon*
JJ : Hello
Kevin : JJ the fuck is with Shawn’s pay off?!
JJ: *Covers the phone* Vince they’re talking
*Vince grabs the phone*
Vince : Big D! We’ll look into that for you, get it figured out.
*Hangs up*
*Kevin calls his wife*
Kevin : Hey honey be on the look out tomorrow for a FedEx, should be $15 grand. Take it & put it in the bank.
I say all that to say, if Bobby talked with other top guys & heard they got bigger payoffs when he was in the marquee match, I could see why he’d be upset at his $250K
Ross is being slightly bias here. You cant tell talent what they are worth. The only reason for discretion in pay is because pay is selective. Everyone has the right to get paid what they deserve it's no questioning how or why lashley felt he was under paid. If lashley says he wasnt paid enough then you either pay him or not. He doesnt have to accept any deal he doesnt feel isnt paying him enough.
Of course you can tell talent what they're worth. Based on ticket sales, merch, fan reaction, this is what you're worth to us. It's done for every talent.
Greed: Am I a Joke to you ?
People should be paid what they deserve. But there’s a difference when you say you weren’t paid enough and it’s just because you think it should be more versus actually pointing to numbers as to why you deserved more. If you’re worth more you should be able to make a sound case to state why you’re worth more. If you can’t make that argument then it isn’t an issue of whether you got paid what you deserved but just you aren’t happy because you wanted to make more but don’t have any reason to back that besides you want more money. And as a result he left. And that’s his call and things ended up working out. But JR is being biased because he knows the role because he did it for years. There are many times people have said they debated their pay to Jim and when they made sound arguments grounded in business results for why they deserved more that many times he got them more. But he’s not going o go find you more simply because you think you should get more just because.
This doesn't take in account that Lashley probably saw what others are getting (wrestlers talk) and was pissed. Easy for everyone else to say, "$250 isn't bad for one day" when you can't fathom making that type of money". When it comes to Vince JR will never keep it real like Jim Cornette because deep down he wants his old job back. He speaks of the WWE as if he's still auditioning for a job. Lashley obviously had his reasons.
$250,000 not $250

I thought it was because his wife quit/got fired and he left with her
i heard it was because of racism.
I remember about the Hayes incident as well. Mark Henry wasn’t happy either.
I heard it was because he had to go on an escapade to save a burning orphanage and Vince told him no
Bobby Lashley left the company over the racist treatment that he and his girlfriend Kristal Marshall received from Smackdown Writer Michael PS Hayes. Michael called Bobby a N-Word when he complained about Kristal upcoming racist program with the Rated R Superstar ⭐️ Edge . The angle was to feature Kristal denouncing all black men all while worshiping white men. . The program was then changed from one of a black woman hating black men to one of a black woman having a wild sexual affair with a white man. Bobby Lashley snapped and asked for his unconditional immediate release from the company. WWE went though with the program with Edge and Alicia Fox a woman who claims that she only dates white men in her personal life . The racism in the angle was taken out after fearing that WWE would receive backlash from the NAACP.
Now the New WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.
yeah jr sounded very ignorant on this one, you can even hear it in conrad that he didnt agree w/ what jr was saying. the fact that vince was willing to pay trump more than his talent says alot about him as a person. lashley should be a multiple wwe world champion by now but typical wwe dropped the ball on that one.
I feel and alot of other people feel he should have beat john cena for the title back in the day do you know how big he would have been

I wonder how much Lesnar was making to sit at home as champion for months at a time. And how much Goldberg gets paid when he comes back sweating profusely all over the place for 2 minute matches. He's a legit bad ass and Patriot that has been booked like trash until very recently. The man is an athlete the WWE should have had booked at the very top years ago. The right way to do this would be to have a survey before every ppv on screen or during ticket purchase ranking the matches people want to see then creating the payoffs based off of that. Not JR/Vince's/WWE'S "Well I think its about worth this" logic.

250 grand for a day’s work is a good amount UNLESS the company is bringing in millions for that ONE day and other wrestlers are being compensated nicely because of it.
The part Jim Ross is ignoring is
1. Ego. If other people are being paid more of course it's gonna bother you.
2. Going "well 250k is a lot" doesn't mean much if Lashley can get paid that much or more elsewhere without traveling 300 days a year.
Lashleys gotta look after himself. If he can make as much money (or slightly less but for a lot less work) outside of WWE, why would he stay? Loyalty? To the guy who underpays him?

$250K for just a days work? That sounds like a damn good deal.
not enough bitch
For minutes work.
NAHHH he was in the main event that sold that show. 500K At minimum.
Considering how popular he was he should of gotten 500k
Stone cold got a mill just to referee
Lashley could be a beast with a few minor tweaks.. i should be his manager
You sound Like you'd do a great job.
wasn't a fan of Bobby at the time, I actually feel like he's a much better performer and wrestler now than he was before
Mad Jr is the best
And New Wwe Champion!🏆
1 thing about that match Trump and McMahon getting their haircuts made the hype not Lashley or Umaga
250,000 for 1 night of wrestling who would complain about that fml im lucky to see 20000 a year wtf some ppl just needs to get humbled
No kidding , up until about a decade/15 years or so ago( the world's just to PC and pussy now days) we had tri county king of the hill tournaments and we all nearly tried to kill each other for a $10000 champion payout , as a matter of fact the year I was involved in the winning pot was only $8k and we was damn proud to have the opportunity at it. I wish they would bring that back 😔 I don't think it will ever return unless this current generations balls drop at some point....as a matter of fact when I signed up all the legal paper work was was just a page claiming you taking responsibility for your own health and well being during and after the tournaments , now days people lack honor and common sense ,they are just out looking for someone to file a lawsuit against so yeah..that sucks...sorry I went further with this comment than expected, reading yours just brought back some old memories
U don’t get it
Other top guys were probably payed 500k to 1m. You don't get it
I would imagine he got the same or more as Lesnar did summer slam 03 or Goldberg at Elimination Chamber. Lesnar vs Rock for me was the most hyped promo of my lifetime.
What JR says here is fair. I stopped following wrestling before Bobby's WM spot & wish I had seen his work on IMPACT. To be 10 yrs out of the game & come back in a high spot is pretty good. Allegedly he left because of Michael Hayes calling him racial slurs. From what I found this interview is no longer here. This vid talks about what he said- ruclips.net/video/wy9zlQ5k4u4/видео.html
You know guys that sounds like some kind of out-of-court settlement thing to me Yeah what the fuk happened.
Would it be awkward if you smoked a joint with Paul levesque
I totally disagree with Lashley. He was green as hell, not good on the mic, somewhat solid in the ring. He was put on the map forever thanks to that match, but he wasn't selling it.
Him and Umaga (RIP) were in that match to play second fiddle in the foreground for the real show that was going on in the background (Trump, Vince). They easily could've been replaced by different guys like MVP, Orton, Edge, etc. who would benefit greatly from the spot and would utilize it much better than Lashley.
WM 23 was sold on Trump, Vince, Austin, Cena, Michaels, Taker and Batista. And in that order too. Lashley had a very inflated sense of his own worth on that card.
You know, if Avengers make 3 billion dollars, it doesn't mean Robert Downey Jr. and Renee Russo should make a similar amount. One is essential to the movie's success, the other doesn't affect it at all.
Wow that's why?
250k and he was in one of the top 3 matches on the card? what the fuck?
Sadly we all know why sadder that you ll make up something else
JR is shoveling hard here.
as if Lashley shouldn't have protested his pay.
and JRs defensive stance as soon as the question was proposed says something was off here.
Batista got paid 300k for WM23
right and batista was actually worth a damn as he sold ppv, lashley didnt even headline anything ,he was not a top star sounds like a bighead crybaby
@@wingedhussar1453 He’s champion now. 🙃
No the question is how much did cena make. If cena got paid the same thing fair is fair. No merchandise sales, just for the match it self. But you know what Jr not going to give those numbers that’s why he cleared himself in the beginning by saying he doesn’t discuss that. Who have to balls ask the tough questions. I call bs
So Vince is not that bad that people say
I like Bobby Lashley, but I cant tell if this was fair or not. I wasn't a fan of how he was used recently anyway. So he gets 250k in 1 day, and leaves?? That's actually a win. WWE doesn't have a solid plan for him.
They should’ve gave Bobby Lashley the WWE Title after Wrestlmania I didn’t like his recent run ,times changed ..
This is JR's corporate stooge side coming out. Yeah, $250k for one night's work is a lot of money. Do you think Stone Cold would take that payoff at a Wrestlemania that did over one million PPV buys? Doubtful.
The headliners of Wrestlemania 19 all made $300k for their match (Lesnar-Angle, Austin-Rock, Hogan-Vince, HHH-Booker) and the event did less than half the PPV buys of WM23. So Bobby got less than they did for a lesser grossing PPV 4 years earlier. He got ripped off.
He was not a jr guy
I really feel like he left because he lost to cena at great American bash and ion blame him
Keyword: talent pool money
Ngl but I was 13 when this happened back in 2007 and I really just tuned in to see stone cold,
Dude is vanilla as hell, that's why they gave him MVP as a mouthpiece. He looks roidy, is roidy, and that's what Vince gets off to. We love Bobby don't we
A quarter million for a WM match?! How dare you?! I would've demanded 800 trillion because that's how much Umaga got. HAHAHAHAHAHAA!!! Lashley could barely do a fuckin promo then, who the fuck did he think he is?! Not sure what's wrong with a quarter million...
The fact that Vince didn't take a payoff and gave it away to another superstar is really awesome
Lashley deserved a few mill. I bet goldberg and lesnar got millions for alot less. so I dont wanna hear nothhing about he didnt deserve when he was top draw.
Jr a trip he think everyone making good money and don’t understand why they complaining
Conrad I love your show I think you showed great at the end of the day these guys are working in a factory with a ring there are no crowds and they're just doing it for the paycheck I don't think the love of wrestling is in their mind right now just for the nice paycheck that they give them and Vince McMahon always pays well those who sacrifice for him at the end the business that we know that's wrestling now is garbage because this is an wrestling this is just a company trying to live off starvation because they're not making any really old Manny only through the the networks if they can go back to live events that could probably make something but with this coronavirus you have 200 million workers out of jobs they basically turned on so the children don't go crazy but the majority of the fans and young adults and a lot of people don't really care about wrestling not the way they cared about wrestling in the 90s or in the 2000 coronavirus is the real problem right now and companies like Japan have live event with crowds so I don't see why the US are nalo in them too let's get one thing straight Japan Korea Hong Kong their economy has not stopped our economy has stopped their culture is different and they listen to rules keep up the great work I love this show but WWE now is garbage
This has to be one of the longest run-on sentences in the history of the English language.
@@emperorta2 Imagine how quickly and passionately he was typing this.
vince has always screwed the talent.
You tuned out before the part where it said he would refuse the performer payout and give it to someone else?
@@TheMasterpiecePD oh please, he owns the company!
TheMasterpiecePD He’s a smark he’s incompetent
@@kamfisher1714 your right vince is incompetent
In MMA? Okay lashleys hardly McGregor is he and apart from Diaz and masvidal no one else getting that dough
Like good old JR didnt screw people over, he sounds like a company man
lol Jake has fought nothing but tin cans dont put him in with lesnar
