Obsidian flames is a lot better than some trash sets of the SS era
It is my 2nd favorite of scarlet violet. 1. 151 2. Obsidian 3. paldea evolved 4. Paradox rift.

Completely agree with your ranking! Paldea Evolved is certainly overrated. People are only "enjoying" it because its what other people are following. I really like paradox rift, temporal forces, and twilight masquerade!
I like paldea evolved because the starters of that generation are done right in their SIR.
Awesome video, super entertaining! My unsolicited 2 cents is that pull rates =/= a S tier set. Demand and popularity have to be a huge factor outside of how hard it is to pull a card. Otherwise i feel like every card would have a mathematical market price based on Expected Cost to pull or whatever. Look forward to the next video - what ever TCG that may be

I guess I genuinely feel like Paradox Rift, Temporal Forces, and Twilight Masquerade are all at least A-tier in a vacuum, and then the fact that they have the toughest pull rates in the block pushes them up to S-tier for long-term value. But I’m probably being overzealous, and especially as we see more new sets, these might pale in comparison.
I think your putting too much stock in pull rates. Everyone said SWSH would be worth nothing because it was way over printed compared to sun and moon. Now its exploding in price. What matters is the artwork and the emotional connection people have with a set.
Fair point, though I did try to factor in artwork and overall popularity of cards in the sets, hence why I have 151 in S-tier despite easy pull rates. But you’re right I may very well be overrating a couple sets. We’ll see how the rest of the block shakes out.
I think the fact that everyone is so divided on which sets are good, which are bad, which are overrated, which are undervalued, etc., just goes to show how solid SV really is. The only I would say objectively and agreed upon bad set is OF, but aside from that I've seen a wide range of opinions on every other set and I'm not going to be surprised in 4 years from now when all of these sets are looked back quite fondly upon.
You are right: you have no idea what you are talking about. Good pull rates equate to bad singles pricing and lower set prices. Putting 151 anything but number 1 is incorrect. You must not of been able to get any. 151 constantly sells off the shelf and the others don't sell out for good reason

@@grailsgg you have 151 in 4th place? That is just wrong. Also you said good rate makes for higher on your list. Bad pull rates is actually better for set pricing like chilling Reign and evolving skies ( and 151)
@@exeggcutebenedict The S-tier is in no particular order. I think I actually just ordered them chronologically by release date, but maybe that's bad tier list etiquette. I agree with you that 151 is the best set in the block so far. And yes, we're also in full agreement that bad pull rates make more expensive singles and more valuable boxes. Pretty sure I said at the beginning that my list is just based on my own expected long-term values of the sets.

It’s incredible skewed and biased, you should lend it zero credence. But fr I just think SV block is that good so far.
I have no desire for twilight masquerade at all and still think it's a shithouse + that Greninja is ugly as heck.

low pull rate doesnt mean high demand. just like a shitty pulling experience doesn't effect demand.
Finally someone who understands TWM is going to go down as a great set in the first half of SV.

You are reading Danny’s data the wrong way it’s not “400 and some packs to hit any Illustration rare” that would be literally insane. It’s that many to get them all, but because of variance he explains you might not get them all and instead get duplicates.
Yes, obviously. That’s exactly how I was reading it. It takes x packs to get any SPECIFIC IR, which implies you would get them all.
151 is garbage. It has the ugliest cards out all the sets. That should be at B or C.
