I get asked if I miss living in the USA as well. (I have been living here for 2 years now). My answer is... YES!. I miss it (the USA), until I go back and I realize I miss the USA of the 80's. When I pay $20 for a burger, fries, and coke and I see what a violent, rude society the USA has become, I want to get back to Nicaragua ASAP.
#Nicatime is a real thing. It's really tough to get used to.
And politics, I know very little of politics here, I have no opinion, and don't care. I am glad not to be in the USA now as politics there is just crazy. I just love living here in Nicaragua, it's a beautiful country and very peaceful. You are right, the propaganda online in the USA is crazy crazy wrong. Great video!

I hate seeing foreigners like you here. Things aren’t affordable for Nicaraguans. They might not cost as much as Americans. However, for our salaries, things are expensive for Nicaraguans. For an American, they’re obviously cheaper. You say you’re happy not to be living in American politics because they’re crazy. Then having a dictator isn’t crazy for you? You just have no opinion because you aren’t a citizen and you just see Nicaragua as a cheap playground. But just like how you wouldn’t like to have human rights violations in the USA, and just how you’d like to have an opinion on American politics, Nicaraguans would also like to have opinions about our politics. You’re just cynical!

We moved to Matagalpa a few weeks ago and we are really enjoying it.
Our pros- cost of living and the people have been very friendly. As a couple with 3 dogs it looks like we will have total bills of about $1100-$1200/month. The pace of life is SLOW and after getting out of the rat race, that is wonderful.
Cons- even Matagalpa is a bit warm for us from noon-5pm, you can’t flush toilet paper, and there is no such thing as punctuality. Yes, there is in your face poverty.
We hope to stay for a year or two. My wife is Nicaraguan.
So you are the expert, where in Matagalpa should we be going for a good cup of coffee or coffee to bring home ?
    Thanks, Scott

No, that is true in a huge part of the world.
All of Nicaragua, as far as I am aware. True in most of Mexico.
We lived in Naples, Florida for many years…short drive to Miami. Our daughters had friends from all Latin countries. Occasionally we would walk into our bathroom and see poopy tp in the trash can….from a young person that hadn’t figured out yet that they could flush it in the US.

You can flush it in some places but most of the country probably not. It might be related to water pressure and the size of the pipelines.

      @@mkinvincible
Yes, the size of the plumbing pipes cant handle it. If I remember correctly, it is not a problem at the Intercontinental in Managua, but in most of the country you flush TP at your own peril. 😃
