    I wore these all over Scandinavia this summer. They do run true to size, are very comfortable, break in quickly and begin almost immediately to patina beautifully. My only complaint is that they are rather difficult and time consuming to put on! Have to halfway unlace them every time. For that reason I’m using my Trumans with speed hooks next trip. Still love these.

    One of my favorites too, it’s my go-to, go with anything boot. Dress it up or dress it down, it’s at home either way. I’m actually waiting on a new pair of Natty CXL cap toe Trench Boots to arrive tomorrow! So stoked! It’s going to be a struggle to leave my Parkhurst Richmond’s on the shelf, but I love the way Natty CXL patinas.

    Just got their field boot and 100% agree with you on size, I told them I was 10.5 on the brannock but not wide at all and they said 10 might be a good option, fits perfect. Only if you have a rather wide foot would true to size make sense I feel. Cool boots!

      The last is perfect for my foot. Wish I’d found them sooner. I have an E/EE width and I go true to size or a half down from sneaker. I wear a 7.5E/EE in Allen Edmonds and wear an 8 in OSB camp mocs. Definitely plan to do a boot from them soon

    Re: Brannok sizing - Our feet really aren't half sizes apart and may not even match. If you're in-between you have to round either up or down. Redwing stores have a scanning device where my left measured 9.8E and my right measured 9.3EE. Also, my left foot is flat, so I need arch support. So what is my Brannock size? LOL - I've found some with sneakers brands I'll wear 9.5 and other brands, a 10. I usually wear old-school Adidas 10s. My comfortable Grant Stone size is 9E, using medium-weight socks and adding a small arch insole. I've got 7 pairs of boots and my favorite is the Oak Street Trench boot (9.5 in color #8 CXL). The length is perfect but I find them swimmingly roomy, Turned out to be a blessing in disguise; I slipped in a full-length custom Redwing orthotic insole, and now they fit comfortably with medium-weight socks. The color #8 CXL is a beautiful, sexy, black-cherry.

    So I just got a pair of these for 25 % off, with leather soles. I'm shocked at how nice they are. The fit is roomy in the toes, the cxl looks really good, stitching is really good. The fit reminds me of trickers sort of, only with more room in the toe-box. I definitely like. I dunno if I'd go hiking in them, but they feel like an easy boot to just wear day-to-day.

    As a counter to your sizing on this boot, I actually had to size up with the Oak Street Trench Boot. I’m 11.5D HtT (about 12 HtB) and initially ordered them in 11.5D. However my toes were being pinched uncomfortably and getting numbness at end of a day. I spoke with Oakstreet and they suggested I return them and go up to a 12D. I did this and while they are slightly big now, the fit well with a boot sock. I would NOT go down a half size on these. Order TTT as a starting place.

      @@InGrindWeCrust2010 I had to size up to 12 which seemed strange. However when I talked with their customer service she said they were changing boot manufacturing style (probably changed which factory they were using). So it’s possible the ones you buy now would fit different. Oak Street doesn’t actually make their own boots. They order batches from various boot/shoe factories.

    Thanks for the info on sizing, I’m a 11C on the Brannock and with Redwing Heritage I go down a full size to a 10D. I think if you have a narrow foot maybe half size down would be a good start, if you’re a true D or E I’m sure true to size is fine. I think I’m gonna get a pair of trench boots in 10.5D and give it a shot.

    I own the Oak Street Bootmakers Indigo Roughout Trench Boots (5 eyelets 3 hooks), the Nemesi Cotto Cap Toe Trench Boots (small 6 eyelets 4 hooks), and the Black CXL Cap Toe Trench Boots (6 eyelets 2 hooks). My Brannock size is a 6.5 Wide. I ordered size 7 (Standard D width) in all my OSB and they fit my feet perfectly with room for light orthotics. I ordered the Indigo Roughout Trench Boots in sizes 7 and 7.5 and determined the 7.5 was too large for me.

    Oh I forgot to leave the sizing comment for oakstreets since I have two in different sizes that I can wear both.
    I should be size 7.5 TTS (never had brannock done, but just based on all my other shoes), I have a trench in size 7 and a field boot in 7.5. The size 7 fits me, but it is snug enough to disallow full toe splaying especially around the pinky toe area. The size 7.5 fits me and is snug on heel and ball, but allows full toe splaying. TTS would be a more practical fit, but half down works if you're after a more dressy fit. It should be also noted that the field boot has a different structured toe box compared to the trench boot in that it has a larger volume toe box. Length wise, there's a difference of around 1/2 inch between the two sizes but both sizes did leave my big toe with enough room (half inch in size 7, 1+ inch in size 7.5)

  • @cheekibreeki9155
    @cheekibreeki9155 7 месяцев назад

    I hope they do the indigo field boots in 2024. I don't know why but when it comes to CXL roughout, they look better on the field boot than the trench. I'm also not sure if it's my eyes, but I swear the USN field boot has a different looking toe box compared to the other field boots from oak street.

    Yeah they kinda pissed me off.. I ordered Cap Toe Trench Boots and I ordered my Brannock which is a 10D and all my Nicks and Truman's are 9.5D..they we're quite large in the toe box and looked bulbous...so instead of returning them I bought leather insoles and they formed to my foot and now fit perfectly. Also I really hope they use cork now because they got so uncomfortable and I had to get mine re-soled and added cork due to the crappy foam board thing they used and now they are perfect...it's been a journey with my OakStreets but I freaking love how they aged and I'd never get rid of them. Awesome video again!! @briansbootpage

    Like you, I have been wanting a pair of these for years, but sizing concerns have put me off...... I am 9.5E (just) on Brannock, but all my US boots are 8.5D (Truman, RW, Wolverine) and my UK boots mostly 8UK (Trickers, Crockett & Jones), and my RM Williams all 8UK (9US)................ I can get away with 9US on American boots and 8.5UK on some UK boots..... so sizing still baffles me, and with being in Australia, it's a big gamble with buying US boots..................Having said all of that Dale, your videos do help me with sizing, so I am going to pull the plug and order OSB in 8.5US, and blame you if they are too small!! haha!

  • @tacline2
    @tacline2 11 месяцев назад

    I just ordered a pair of these in the brogue cap toe model. I tend to find I prefer to order true to size, even on brands I always hear from boot reviewers here on RUclips and elsewhere on the internet that say you should size down by at least half a size. I am a 9D on a brannock, and I comfortably fit in a 9D in Red Wing, Truman, Grant Stone, and Thursday (admittedly, my Thursday Duke Chelsea boots are a little on the big side). I am hoping I will fit well and be happy in the 9D, I can't wait until they arrive. These are my first CXL boots, and I am excited to wear and patina the natural color of these boots!
    Edit: after reading a lot from other owners of these boots, and reading about the less than ideal materials used (i.e. plastic heel counters, foam filler midsole, etc), I am going to contact customer service and confirm the materials used. If they use thermoplastic and foam at this price point, then I will cancel my order ASAP. Using foam and plastic at a $500 price point is absolutely ridiculous and borderline sinful, I won't pay for trash materials. Their website also specifically glosses over the materials used in the heel counters and the filler, so it is already pretty suspicious to begin with...
    Edit #2 I spoke with customer service, and confirmed they do use celastic heel and toe siffeners, and they also said at various points they have had to switch back and forth between cork and foam based on their supply chain, but that the majority of their current stock is using cork and they are only using cork going forward as long as supply chains hold up. I also got a seperate message from customer service before they ship my boots out. They included a picture, said there is more wrinkles and loose grain than they typically approve for shipment, and i could wait another 3-4 weeks for a restock of the boots, or i could take these ones as is for a $150 refund. CXL creases anyway, so i accepted the refund and the boots. Labor day sale combined with factory second discpunt means i am getting a pair of Oak Street trench boots for about $250, so i am not longer upset about the materials used or even the loose creasey leather.
