This is the dialogue with Lord Rologarth that you missed: when asking him how can you stop the Dr., he says that you need to steal the Ring of Charos from him. You then ask what does the ring do, which he responds with: "It was my birthright, passed down to me through the ages, its origin forgotten. The Ring of Charos has many powers, but Fenkenstrain has bent them to his own evil purposes. Without the power of the ring, he will not be able to raise the dead from their sleep. It has one other, extremely important use - it confuses the werewolves' senses, making them believe that they smell one of their own kind. Without the ring, Fenkenstrain will be at their mercy."
This quest puts a lot of emphasis on how dangerous the werewolves are and how they will kill Fenkenstrain without the ring. However, the player character is perfectly capable of walking around Canifis without the werewolves attacking him, and the Myreque, the crone who lives west of the castle etc don't seem to be afraid of them either
@@exantiuse497 Well, you do get blessed and given Wolfbane immediately upon completing Priest in Peril, so maybe you have some other kind of protection?
Wow what a blast from the past seeing your name and picture! I used to love listening to your league breakdown videos hahaha. I am still subbed to you.
You missed the dialog the tells you what the ring does and why getting it finished the quest. It was the only thing stopping the werewolves in Canifis from deciding that having the doctor for dinner would be a good idea
I find it hilarious just how unceremoniously you obtain the Ring of Charos when it is one of, if not THE most lore-significant item in the game, with absolutely no mention of it anywhere else ever.
It happens a lot. Just look at temple of Ikov. Honestly the way player character is written as some clueless nobody just stumbling into adventure is a perfect representation of how we feel doing those quests.
Unguided: What the Gower’s intended. This series hits at home to SOOO many types of players. My sister played occasionally when we were kids and her current-day partner just watches it on RUclips for fun. And both have fallen in love with Unguided. Their big RuneScape experience is your series and they’ve both surprisingly learned a lot. From an “elitist” pov this series is hilarious and helps break the perfectionist in me. Thank you.
I think the brain thing suffers from the same problem as I commented about the worker in Freminnik Trials. On the quests release the brain would've been added to the tavern and people who'd been in the area ahead of time would've noticed a weird new item prompting them to try to grab it, or get it later during the quest. So on paper it seems like a natural thing because when a quest dropped you look for all the new whacky things added to the game alongside it but all these years later. It seems unintuitive to have a random item related to the quest with no direction about it nearby.
IDK man, I've heard some people consider it dark fantasy. While it's clearly not full blown grimdark, it's not a cheery happy go lucky place either. Heck, just after tutorial island, the first town your in has a good section of it ransacked and infested with goblins! There's skeletons all over the place, undead literally roaming the sewers under towns, dark wizards and highwaymen near towns, or even IN them. (hi Draynor)
I will say I think quite a lot of parts if not whole ass quests are pretty much grimdark (but I agree as a whole it wouldn't be right to say OSRS is truly grimdark). Like the part in this video where he mentioned Frankestrain sent children to be eaten by vampires. Tbh the whole questline of Frankestrain is turning people into zombies to use as slave labor or for torture that he calls "experiments." OSRS very much rings true to being a medieval fantasy in tone and not just aesthetic, it's quite messed up. A Soul's Bane is about a child going missing for 25 years, and was driven insane and literally turns into a monster. Everything about the Trolls is just messed up including during one of their quests you spike a parrot and have him learn to imitate torture victims and then feed said drunk parrot to Trolls. Underground Pass you gotta smash a Unicorn, kill Paladins, walk by half-soulles humans that have been imprisoned for who knows how long. Even during Tree Gnome Village quest the King mentions his family was murdered by General Khazard's Army. Regicide you kill the wrong king and really everything to do with the Elves and those quests is just messed up.
Regicide, Song of the Elves, Slug Menace, the backstory of the Fremennik and Moonclan, the origin of the Dragonkin and other associated lore in RS3... Yeah, I can see why RuneScape is considered dark.
The entire Myreque storyline is pretty dark af, and continues getting darker as you go through it. So far culminating in a father who says he knew exactly what he was doing when he murdered his daughter, and finding out that a symbol of freedom for the people was actually turned into a monstrosity to kill other people who try to earn their freedom.
The man's cracked the code for enjoying this game. Turns out playing the old-school RPG like an old-school RPG leads to the most enjoyment. 10/10 series, get the quest cape for all of us mate.
The confused “wot?” after pickpocketing him finishes the quest is one of the unintentionally funniest things I’ve ever seen in an rs video. I know a lot about RuneScape but obviously the exact story for every quest is a little hard to remember, I knew the ring was part of it but I didn’t remember exactly why he needed it and since I’m basically following you along as you go with these videos and you didn’t have him explain the ring I too felt that exact sense of confusion when it suddenly ended. Fucking hilarious
I mean that ending is exactly why you can't do things like ask about the shed early in the quest or ask avan in family crest about who he is too. you'd be confused or sequence break it.
Your editing and formatting are so well done, short intro with a recap of previous episode and what's ahead for the current episode. It gives it a great flow.
I'm so glad you've got your first sponsor! It actually looks really cool and i will check it out. The ring played its part too.

The older the quest the more random and less direction they give for the puzzles solutions. More modern quests have much better made puzzles, items that are strategically placed so you don't have to go back to the bank, and more complete info on the quest diary.
I honestly like the old quests a bit better simply for the lack of immediate direction towards everything. I like to figure shit out for myself. I click and examine every little thing. Legends Quest is still one of my favourite quests in the game and I wish Jagex would make something like that again. Well, at least the quests aren't as braindead as in FF14 where all you do is follow a mapmarker.
It's Charos as in "charisma". It basically lets you Jedi-mind-trick people. Fenkenstrain used it to keep the werewolves from eating him. Rologarth explains it in the quest but you can't go back and see the dialog I guess lol.

I'm really quite upset that he has decided to have a sponsor like this. I don't like sponsored ads in general because they tend to be dishonest but this company in particular seems very scetchy. Was he really that resperate for a sponsor? I feel it degrades the integrity of this channel
