It's just such a flex, it's what if I played the game as the developers designed it and minimal background knowledge from my long forgotten youth. It's like if someone did a catch all pokemon run of pokemon emerald, how does the player figure out Milotic without guides.
@@MeanderingSlacker Funnily enough, your Milotic example is something I actually did as a 10 year old. Through absolutely nothing but sheer luck and chance, not knowing Milotic even existed or what I was doing, I somehow acquired it and remember it distinctly as a core memory, being on my DS in the back of my parents' car on a long car journey for a summer holiday. Not only was it without a guide, but i was so utterly clueless about what I'd done that I ending up releasing it not long after acquiring it because, as a 10 year old, I "thought Milotic looked girly", and didn't want to own it 😂😂 It wasn't until many years later that I even knew the extent of what I'd done, but it is hilarious to think back on.
The quests really are good. People do NOT appreciate just how good they are...well most of them anyway. People love to hate Small Favor...but that's basically how a lot of other quests work in other games...and lo and behold, it's not fun.
@@feldamar2 Even then, One Small Favour at least has fun dialogue to go with how ridiculous the idea of the quest is, and feels so much more OSRS. They KNOW what they're doing and are trying to make it amusing at the same time.
I used to be the equivalent of that back on RS2, just using runeHQ for everything and not bothering to pay attention to what was happening. Then I decided to do While Guthix Sleeps blind. Never went back, even if a few quests really deserve to be skipped (hi Ratcatchers).
@@andrethyst905 Oh yes. It's absolutely making fun of this kind of quest the whole way through. This game gets to do that because it's quests are GOOD.
i am semi convinced he knew that legends quest was soon for unguided and said that because the videos are like a couple weeks appart and settled watches and has commented on unguided.
Started watching this series for background noise to sleep to. Now glued to my screen for 3 hours straight watching this man meander and question his life decisions
Came to say that I enjoy a fair few OSRS creators and while I appreciate their flair and production value, like J1mmy’s By Release, that series never quite scratched the itch I had for wanting to experience quests in a way that felt similar to playing the game myself. Unguided has undisputedly sorted that out for me. Now I’m going back over to #7 to keep watching, see you when I catch up 👋
This video perfectly encapsulates the Runescape quest experience. Sure, it's way more intricate than killing 10 boars for their hides; but the fact you waste literal hours going to and from locations just because you don't have the specific esoteric item it demands is a terrible trade-off. This is why as a kid I couldn't stand Runescape quests and it turned me off questing in MMOs for the rest of my life, and why I absolutely love OSRS with Runelite which gives me a detailed list and step-by-step guide for everything. The amount of willpower to forsake all of that to play the game as intended is admirable. Well done. I did this quest a couple of months ago and forgot nearly everything watching you play through it, which means I didn't learn a single thing because I used Runelite as a crutch.
Rewatching the whole thing back I 100% can still understand why someone would think they’d need all 4 of the powered orbs for the door. In the context of the series, it’s hilarious that you ended up getting 66 Magic anyway, which would’ve let you into the Mages Guild that you checked first for Soul Runes
I keep coming back to these old videos; the recent stuff figuring out Barrows has been good, but I think this Legends' Quest, Monkey Madness, and Desert Treasure I were the series peak so far. Can't wait for more questing, especially some of the later Master/GM ones. Apart from every GM quest which is gonna be spectacular, specifically looking forward to Secrets of the North, Sins of the Father, and MEP2
Funny that I got sent this series, I did something just like it a bit ago though I did have to cheat at certain points. I wrote text guides for every step and boy howdy was that absolutely necessary, the amount of dialogue in this game that gets said once and never again is really rough when questing blind. Reading all of the lore was super fun and interesting and made me appreciate all the little details and fun stuff in the quests I normally skip. All the old 2003-2004 quests can go die in a hole though for how vague they are sometimes. For this quest I figured out how to go through the door with the orb and got super confused when I couldn't proceed, it took hours before I finally focused on the previous room.
Just got home from a fantastic night at work and I see this in my notifications. No better content to watch than this as I continue my phantom muspah grind😊😊😊😊
What a ride this series is, I absolutely love it. I hope you'll continue the series after you obtain the quest cape and explore everything else gielinor has to offer with these rules! Not sure how much pvm knowledge you have but would be a blast seeing you figure that stuff out without any guides...
I'm playing Legends' Quest for the first time and instead of spoiling myself with the wiki now that I'm stuck, I'm gonna suffer with you. Thanks mate for this fantastic series EDIT: jaysus, it's been a couple hours, I didn't have the issue with soul runes and still I'm defeated. I've done so much backtracking
Watching you mull over whether to get some slayer levels or magic levels to get a rune based on a suspicion is kind of hilarious when you know the answer. I also don't know if you noticed this, but if you look at your minimap when you use the heart on the mossy rock, you'll see a dragons head.
> Quest requires 56 magic > "I need to get 5 magic levels (to get to 66)" 56:18 it's easy enough to see in hindsight - I would have taken 10x longer than you to do the quest - but it's funny looking back on the signs that were there.
Watching you navigate the kahzari jungle gave me flashbacks of being stuck in that same shitty spot as a kid even with runehq im not sure i ever actually finished it lol
I just finished bing watching the whole series, so I'm not going to watch this video. Just hopping in giving it a thumbs up and a comment for the ol' algorithm. ❤
The doorknob is a glass orb. The doorknob is a glass orb. The doorknob is a glass orb. The doorknob is a glass orb. The doorknob is a glass orb. The doorknob is a glass orb. For anyone wondering about the dragon part, the minimap creates the shape of a dragon’s head and you’re meant to put the heart in the “eye” Though I’m realizing that this video is a collection of smaller episodes edited together so this comment is probably moot
I love the series and I'm tempted to watch this video but as a crack addict I can't take the same hit twice ❤ will like and comment but can't take the same hit twice 😂 I love your content tho
The problem with this series is that most probably nothing can top it. It's that good.
It's just such a flex, it's what if I played the game as the developers designed it and minimal background knowledge from my long forgotten youth. It's like if someone did a catch all pokemon run of pokemon emerald, how does the player figure out Milotic without guides.
💯% true
I'm as a addicted to this as I was for swampletics tbh❤

Guess I'm watching this all over again
lol that’s what I was thinking 😂
Same 😂
Same😂
Did I watch all the episodes of this quest as they released? Yes. Am I gonna now watch them again in one video? Hell yes
Amazing stuff - As a spacebar holder and quest helper skipper, I realize this is actually a great puzzle game and I've been playing wrong

Deploying algorithm boost! Can't wait to see how you tackle quests like mournings end pt 2 😉
So many quests I want to see... Mostly because I have no idea how he is gonna manage to do them, but I trust he will in the end.
I watch both you and settled and was VERY confused when I heard him in the intro. lol
But again, PROPS mate for doing this unguided.🔥
bruh I felt like Walter White yelling out the car window trying to warn him that soul runes were sold in the general store in arceeus

I'm a simple man, I see an Unguided video, I watch.
Had to do a round of applause for you at the end there. Your dedication is incredible. Love this series

I recently did Legend's quest and I was yelling at the screen the whole time, thanks Alien Food, I love engaging with content in this way :)
this series is so much better than anyone just recounting runescape lore, because you have to actually immerse yourself and live the lore

The whole Legends' Quest arc on one video! Legend!
Already watched all of the original videos but I will like and comment for *engagement*
What a curse it is to bank a stethoscope without knowing what its for lol this is so entertaining

rewatching this while I'm doing Legend's Quest :)

I don't play OSRS, but loved the series!! Subscribed :)
Yes please, I'll happily rewatch this in long form!
Are you threatening me?
@@Patatronik I would never threaten you with a good time.
Hands down one of the best series. I hope you keep at it! You have got this!
Great video, really hope this gets some traction. I was creasing every time you zoomed in on the bull roarer hahaha.
The amount of effort used to solve there problems amazes me every time. Well done.
Glad you uploaded this seperate, nice for it all to be in one video ❤
This was such a blast to watch through these last few weeks. Great content, and great idea throwing it all together into one vid!
Putting it all together in a single video is a great idea
You were so close to a soul rune store I was screaming 😂 awesome job though man
I always wanted to replay this to relive the quest and because I forgot how the story went. This is at least equally entertaining
"this game is testing me....and I will win" -- legendary
Dude I just started watching today and you release this! Bless you!
The whole power orb saga had me screeching at the screen.
Such a legendary arc of your journey, wonder what can even surpass it

watching this back, the sentence "it's a glass orb on the handle" echoing in my brain while i'm remembering how long it took to work out the solution
I love your videos, refreshing and makes me feel like a noob too because without the wiki I’d be lost 😂
Absolutely love these! I can't wait for the other videos, would be so cool if you get a quest cape
Truly a momentus accomplishment. Way to go man!
you know you're hooked when you watch mega edits of episodes you've already watched
☠
Good choice to put the episodes into one video with a new intro :) Great work as always Mr. Food
Insane that the magic shops in Arceuus don't sell soul runes, you were one building away from the general store that stocks them xD
10/10 this is so entairtaining to watch, keep it up man ❤
DT and Mournings End is gonna be fuckin wild. Im here for the long ride mate KEEP GOING
The brainwave to the water obelisk was wild, probably a near 20year old memory!
Perfect upload cause we wont have power for the next 5 hours 😂 will watch this from my phone to kill some time thank you my good sir!😊

it's actually insane that you completed the quest, i definitely wouldn't have had the willpower for it

I thought this was complation of all other videos. Did not expected 2 hour episode.
the legend himself
Watching it again!

cant wait for mourning ends part 1 and 2 :D
I fall asleep to your videos lol just thought I should tell you
"You have not seen this before" *waves hand*
this is cinema
amazing video
FYI you didn't actually miss out on slayer xp, the xp rewards are only for a certain set of skills, the "any skill" is a lie.

its weird that the fire obelisk is the only one labeled on the map.

i hope you make dragon sq shield.
hear me out: this series but you listen to the accompanying J1mmy By Release song on repeat until you finish the quest
