Giving some Goblins the same armor they've always had: 5 quest points. Killing Elvarg, a dragon which destroyed an entire civilization and their island and poses a threat to the entire world of Runescape: 2 quest points.
It's so refreshing to watch a series where the iron man player has such limited game knowledge and I thank you sooo much for taking the audience through your thought process and trial and error rather than skipping straight to the solution! Jagex should really watch this series and take notes, one thing that jumps out to me is when you're using your noggin' and are just faced with "Nothing interesting happens" like trying to use your unblessed holy symbol on a random monk, why can't they just reply to you "I cannot bless this symbol, you'll need to speak to father whatever upstairs in the Edgeville monestary".. Or folks that ask for things from the player and give absolutely no guidance to how to get it! Runescape is a game that is constantly evolving, new content coming in can really confuse players when the game designers might think "Oh yeah, we told the player to go to Al-Kharid, there isn't much there so it won't be long before the player finds what to do" wellll now there's a ton of stuff to do and they're not very good at considering what impact their updates have to previous decisions. I wish Runescape was a game that someone who hasn't played a second of it can jump in as an iron man and figure it all out, but the game really doesn't really offer any guidance to players and rely a bit too much on expecting players to read the wiki.
Most of the "newer" quests are made under the assumption that the players know everything already which is problematic for people who are either new or have not played the game for many years 😂 it would be great if they made improvements like that yeah
@@ResetmeTomuto be fair, most of the newer quests are either in zeah and are more direct and helpful or they’re mainland quests what have big requirements like 60/70+ which is average/low for most old players but high for anyone new. Overall I think the newer quests would probably be easier than let’s say mournings end pt 1&2 etc
@@Real-Ruby-Red you're probably right, when I came back to the game the first time I hadn't played in many years and still remembered almost all the quests but I used guides for the ones I hadn't ever done so maybe that clouds my judgement 😁
100% this. I can't tell you how endlessly frustrated I am of every new series immediately going into "quest complete" "quest complete" "quest complete" and never showing any of its content. It's such a waste
I love this. Questing, in my opinion, was and is the reason that makes Runescape greater than most MMO's. The quests are fun, they're pretty engaging and aren't just simple fetch quest nonsense. There's a ton of story to learn from them and they can be absolutely interesting. Awesome idea and series.

The way you tackle these quests is so real, great acxount honestly hope you're having fun with it The plank saga actually made me scratch my head i didnt know that was the only source for planks in f2p lmao
just finished the whole thing honestly really entertaining The first few eps where you're just doing the simple f2p quests didnt engage me too much but once you got into shit like dragon slayer or regicide where you really gotta figure out just wtf you have to do for some of these the series really felt like it came into stride and was a great watch
Thanks for the kind words. Agreed, first few eps are pretty slow and there’s not too much struggle, also just sort of finding my video style as I’d never made videos before too. Thanks again!
Thank you for sharing this journey! This is my third watch and your editing, how you think out loud and process the quests, its awesome to watch and listen to. Looking forward to watching you do more quests!
The big thing from this series is that you really get invested in the story of some quests. And besides that, man the feeling I got when you achieved blessing that symbol. That's what quests are all about. Facing adversity and finally getting the reward, however small it may be. I LOVE this series and hope you'll get as big as Settled in 2024!
Love this series, glad it got recommended to me. Reminds me of me when I first played. The game was mysterious and me and my friends never thought to look anything up. We just talked to each other and shared information amongst our group in order to help each other. A grand trip down nostalgia lane.
Never thought I'd be invested in a 7-hour video all the way through. This is calm, exciting, relaxing, and entertaining. I love these long-form videos! Keep it up!!
I found your interpretation of Askeladdens name amusing. He's actually named after Askeladden, the child protagonist in an old series of Norwegian childrens books that was often tricking adults and pulling pranks. Perhaps the original inspiration for Dennis the Menace
Thank you for making these compilation videos. They've gone into my "background noise while sleeping" playlist. You're sitting nestled alongside Swampletics and the Farmers, a good place to be. Keep up the awesome work making an amazing series.
Dude this is amazing, I always do all the new quests without a guide because it's the most fun experience, but you sir take it to an amazing level, love it!
@@rechtebanana it's more learning boss mechanics, the game changes alot vs how it used to be w/ bosses etc :) but we'll let Alien enjoy all that when it comes his way haha
I literally watch all 7 hours at work over the past week. Love it! This is the best way to play RuneScape, but most of us just don't have the time to do it. I'm excited to see how far you go!
I clicked on this video expecting seven hours of good background noise, but something strange happened. As the hours passed by, I found myself rooting for you during the plank and holy symbol sagas, wondering why I was so invested in this man with a nice voice struggling to do these quests I've done a dozen times. Then it hit me - this was how Runescape should be. Across my almost twenty years of playing it, I've never figured anything out, because I didn't care about it as an adventure so much as I did a fun chore to sink hours in. But for as many hours as I've given to Runescape, watching this video was more fun than all of thousands of hours I personally had with the game combined. Because you had a journey. An honest, immersive experience I and plenty others deprived ourselves of from the very beginning. By what I assume is mostly unintentionally, you've reawakened the magic of this game, even if its quest design and direction is objectively too obtuse. Props to you. I hope your series and channel explode in popularity, because you are a fantastic storyteller without even trying, who breathed new life into something I used to love, and now appreciate again. Cheers
These are the comments that really make my day. Absolutely loved reading through this and I’m so glad my video was able to give you that feeling and appreciation for the game we love. Thanks so much for sharing these words with me, I know it must have taken a while for you to articulate and share but it means so much to me and I really really appreciate it. Thanks so much and hope you enjoy the rest of the series.
Love the series, i remember playing like this years and years ago before plugins or anything. Also, just incase you hadnt realised, all of the knights in the white knight castle have names which are kinda puns. So like, Sir Vyvin, is surviving.
This is great! I'm sure Alien Food thought the same thing I did when doing these quests with a guide... "How the heck would I have known to do that???" You got lucky with Ernest Chicken dude that door puzzle broke me
I never thought I would find someone on RUclips who sounds as permanently tired and bored of existence as I do. There are literally negative levels of energy on your voice. This isn't criticism, by the way, I am amazed to know I am not alone. Honestly, Ia m feeling a bit more confident about my own voice, too, considering I like how you sound.
I remember doing regicide and resorting to actually using those iron spits to cook the rabbits I found because the bank run through the Pass was so daunting. I didn't even notice Hining just had bread for sale!
Pre 2007 all I did was pk so I knew about that plank spawn. When you said “let’s leave the wilderness for last” I facepalm’d. This series is really good tho, you’re doing something I think many of us want to do but don’t have the patience lol
Amazing video. Thank you for recording and sharing. It reminds me of doing all the quests back when I was a teenager before there were guides. So far my favorite quote of the video "What explodes in this game.... what....what... some sort of explosive"
This is a tip for anyone but the Bone dagger(p++) is a amazing weapon for Ironmen. It reduces the defense of your target by the amount of damage you deal. It also has a 100% accuracy if you were Not the last person to attack the target. So it will Always hit if you use as your opening attack and/or great for multi bossing. Also the poison is always a little bonus. If you talk to the Range Tutor in Lumbridge, he will make it whenever you pick up ammo, it will auto equip if it’s the same type of ammo your currently wielding and this also combos with Ava’s devices. So it will pick it up and equip it for you.
As someone who enjoys questing blind but otherwise uses online resources, but has quite a bit of game knowledge over the years this is so interesting to watch. Really insane how much faster you can progress if you know the meta
And here i thought i didnt like questing, turns out quest helper just takes all the fun and sense of achievement out of them. What a fun and inspiring journey =].
this was an incredible ride! I did wonder how you were gonna do a few of the more complicated quests i knew and, honestly... about how I expected, random clicking after much frustration. I'll be following this for sure!
Someone probably already mentioned it but: Yes. We do find out what the deal with the penguins in the Lumbridge sheep pen are about. Not in old school but in RuneScape 3 the questline expands, and you find out the penguins are spies. You end up spying on them all around Gilenor for penguin points, a weekly distraction and diversion, which gives you xp or coins
Osrs has cold War and also hunt for red something as penguin quests, pro tip, put music on during the quests and read all the dialogues etc, it's hilarious.
I know there was a timegap between it, but i think its funny that you had your "i need to just talk to everyone" moment for the merchant trial(after your monkey madness woes), and then you just walked past the workman for the one part you were really stuck on at least a dozen times.
Great concept for a series, I wish you luck. I started an account for exactly the same thing back in RS2, before we had a wiki or client plugins. (Nice to see the mention of RuneHQ.) The goal was getting a quest cape without using any quest guides, and as part of the quester build: really high agility, and 96 Magic to unlock all the teleports. Looking forward to seeing the process of figuring out the Vampire Slayer levers. Honestly, MEp2 isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be, even without a guide. It was great fun, and still enjoyable in OSRS. Though with the new ground-target and movement-based mechanics, I decided only the RS2 quests counted. For anything from RS3 or OSRS, I had been remorselessly using guides until I hung my quest cape on the rack and entirely gave up on new quests. I look forward to the good old quests on my group ironman, but I don't think I'll bother trying the Raids 2 quest a second time.
f2p only has 3 plank spawns. graveyard of shadows, where you got yours. near larran's small chest and the third 1 is only available after crashing the boat on crandor.
I think the literal only reason anyone would've finished Fremminik Trials on release is that the cherry bomb npc would've been added to the game with the quest prompting some people to talk to him. Anyone who would've done the quest long after wouldn't know to talk to him because for them, he's ALWAYS been there
Cool idea for a series. Gotta say though that the one thing that almost made me give up on Runescape was how often I needed to alt-tab and consult the wiki.
found this vid by complete chance, but this is one of my favorite series now! Genuinely enjoying watching you figure all this stuff out, but rip you when you get to mournings ends part 2 lol
This is perfect for me for getting sleep on multiple views! No shouting but calming voice that is not cringe asmr, but works that way too when I really can't be with my thoughts without thinking myself to crap feeling. Thanks dude.
wow, the bullshit with the monkey talismans in monkey madness would have pissed me off so much i would've stopped playing, good on you for staying determined

'I was trying to blow up her house and all I had to do was pick up a cat?' - best underground pass quote

Not in old school but in RuneScape 3 the questline expands, and you find out the penguins are spies. You end up spying on them all around Gilenor for penguin points, a weekly distraction and diversion, which gives you xp or coins
I mean, we don't have more than one quest, but Cold War tells us more about the penguins.
Cold War tells you about the penguins in OSRS. You know who the penguins are in old school man
Osrs has cold War and also hunt for red something as penguin quests, pro tip, put music on during the quests and read all the dialogues etc, it's hilarious.
@@warhead213youre a penguin!
Nope osrs only has cold war@Siks7Ate9
Who else is grinding OSRS while watching this video, I know I am.
Such a good thing to watch.
Quests are honestly really fun without a guide pain in the ass and takes ages but is fun
This is amazing. Nearly finished. Cannot wait for more!!! Brings back a lot of memories xD
I know there was a timegap between it, but i think its funny that you had your "i need to just talk to everyone" moment for the merchant trial(after your monkey madness woes), and then you just walked past the workman for the one part you were really stuck on at least a dozen times.
😂😂 I think it’s cause I just didn’t even consider him because he’s so far away from the main town lol
Just got to the end of this, thanks for making my construction and woodcutting grinds a bit easier! On to the next compilation :)
couldn't imagine playing this game without a guide. looks like fucking hell man. but good job sticking with it.
Broo so happy I found your channel. I’m dying right now watching you do underground pass 😂😂😂
Damn I thought this was a new episode lol
Hope the next one comes out soon, love this series
Haha hopefully not too long for the next ep
Time for another binge to start the new year 🎉
Looking forward to another year of uploads
Can't wait for One Small Favor and Mourning's End Part II
Love the series, super relaxed to watch
Ooh, another obscure runescspe channel and challenge to get sucked into
Been wondering who your voice reminds me of. I finally realized you sound like VaatiVidya. Loving the series so far
I think the literal only reason anyone would've finished Fremminik Trials on release is that the cherry bomb npc would've been added to the game with the quest prompting some people to talk to him. Anyone who would've done the quest long after wouldn't know to talk to him because for them, he's ALWAYS been there
Lol this was so tragic but funny 😂😂 I was screaming at the TV because I knew what you had to do.
you sir have got my like.
I subbed! Love the videos man! I hope you keep them up to show players you can play this game without runelite.
A common hint I used when doing my no guide quest journey was to look at quest skill requirements so I don't explore things that people couldn't do.
Controversial opinion, but in goblin diplomacy the blue goblin mail looks hands down the best.
absolutely fantastic series mate, the monkey madness quest had me in tears. i love this series already and looking forward to new episodes!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed
Just started watching this series, so good timing :)
RUclips algorithm doing it's thing again! This series is amazing, the nostalgia is real. Also using this as background ASMR while working lol.
This is perfect for me for getting sleep on multiple views! No shouting but calming voice that is not cringe asmr, but works that way too when I really can't be with my thoughts without thinking myself to crap feeling. Thanks dude.
This has been entertaining ngl lol I didn't expect this (Guess I make a start on episode 21 and onwards unless you make another 7+ Hrs video again)
Omg the nostalgia train hit me so hard i almost started crying
wow, the bullshit with the monkey talismans in monkey madness would have pissed me off so much i would've stopped playing, good on you for staying determined
