Dream Mentor is a special quest for me. I was totally terrified of combat, I remember panicking at Jad and messing up a lot and never going back after getting my first cape. Cyrisus’s armor setup actually depends on your ‘dominant’ combat style. Most people only ever see the ‘melee’ setup due to the 85 combat requirement. (It’s hard to get a high combat level dependent on magic or ranged since there are 3 melee skills vs 1 ranged/magic). His ‘ranged’ outfit is a Splitbark helm, Karils top, Torag’s platelegs, adamant boots, and magic shortbow. His ‘magic’ outfit is robin hood hat, dragon chainbody, black d’hide chaps, infinity boots, and ancient staff.
Defence isn't actually a melee skill. Attack and strength are counted as melee skills for combat level. Your combat level is based on either your attack+strength, or 1.5*magic or 1.5*ranged, whichever is higher. In practice, if you wanted 85 combat and you had 70 in defence, hitpoints and prayer, you'd need either combined 130 in attack+strength (e.g. 65 in both) or 85 in either ranged or magic. Xp wise 65 in two skills is around 1/4 of 85 in one (450k*2 vs 3.2m), so reaching the required combat level is far easier with melee
@@exantiuse497 Almost correct(or leaving some information out that people could benefit from, depending on the viewpoint). Enjoy membs should you decide to get it; just be prepared to pay for membs for a while until you're fairly late game since you otherwise have to dedicate too much time to keeping up your bond to enjoy the game easily. Also, look for services to assist other players since those pay really well and generally don't require as much work. That can unlock bonds for you earlier on, while keeping up plenty of time to play the way you want.

Great episode, and people do actually use Monster Examine - someone's gotta populate the wiki page lol. It should be exceptionally useful for you actually.
20:32 his armour is different depending on whether your combat level is melee, magic, or ranged based. You got the melee based one just as probably 90% of players. For ranged based accounts he wants Splitbark helm, Karil's leathertop, Torag's platelegs, Adamant boots and a Magic shortbow. For magic based accounts he wants the Robin hood hat, Dragon chainbody, Black d'hide chaps, Infinity boots and an Ancient staff.

Don't glaze him too much lol , J1mmy said he is "a quest man", stating he isn't the only quest man and that there are several, but that Alien Food has definitely earned the title. Also nobody said that acronym, I'm pretty sure you made that up to sound cool 😂 My source is the Q&A he did on his second channel J1mbo
That was, hands down, the single best ad read transition I've seen in years, and the integration and humor made me actually listen through the whole thing. Kudos to you, my man! I love your unguided series. It's easily the most engaging and enjoyable osrs content I've seen in a long time, and truly evokes the memories of playing this game as a kid in school. The "shave your balls" line really got me 😂 I was like wtf they let you say that to a half dead npc in a cave? Considering it's Jagex, it's just ridiculous enough to be believable. Best ad so far. 🤣
I've played since Underground Pass was released all those years ago but still keep my hair in Cyrisus's style as a memento to this quest. I remember struggling *so much* because of how afraid I was of the boss battles. In part because of the very conflict you're having: *I had no idea what their weaknesses were!* Back then I was also afraid of losing my items since gravestones didn't exist yet! Going at them in my standard kit and hoping for the best had me beaten back again and again, so I always remember Cyrisus's perseverance in the face of fear and uncertainty.
Can't tell you how comforting it was to get out of my surgery this morning (nothing very serious) and see an Unguided episode. That barrows gear is just around the corner dude!
For the average player it’s useless now though because of the wiki. Why do the quest for the spell when there is a wiki button that will tell you all of that info and more. Wish it had some other utility in game to make it more useful.
@@DesolationsFire There's a chance I'm misremembering, but I thought that to use the potion at nmz you needed to complete dream mentor. The quest is useful for far more than just the spell. I am currently on my own journey to get my new account up to doing the While Guthix Sleeps quest, and while I'm not Ironman and using guides... when I eventually get to that quest I am going to try complete it without any spoilers or guides! And you are the inspiration for that, keep up the fantastic work, mate!
>Dying on the ground and a stranger gives you some food to save you >He reject the life saving food because there isn't any variety Should have just left him in the cave tbh.
Fun fact for those that might not know: Cyrisus' outfit depends on the player's combat skills (specifically on which style your combat level is based on, melee, ranged or magic), all of them are a stupid mishmash of gear from different combat styles. Most players will get the iconic "warrior" look we see in the video, with the whip, dmed, ranger boots and ahrim's - this is because the combat level calculation heavily promotes melee stats over ranged or magic so most players have melee based combat. The other outfits are as quirky as the "warrior" (the "mage" has ancient staff with dchain, dragonhide and robin hood hat, and the "archer" has magic shortbow with torag's legs and splitbark helm) but sadly almost nobody will see them because of how difficult it is to get 85 combat as a magic or ranged based character. I wish his outfit was randomised instead
His mage gear does look pretty stylish, regardless of how impractical it would be with its negative magic attack bonus. I was lucky enough to see it in my game because my Magic overwhelmingly outpaced my other combat stats by virtue of... high alching items from the GE in F2P to afford a bond. Multiple times. In 2023.
I binged all your videos, finished last week. So I have been checking every other day to see if a new one is out. YAY. You make the best RS videos on youtube IMO, hearing the story line makes them so interesting

Cyrusis rejecting food because it's not varied enough while literally dying on the floor of a cold, dark, cave would be like someone rejecting life-saving medicine in the hospital because they prefer the cherry flavored bit.
Fun fact, Cyrisus' combat set-up depends on your combat stats, if you're primarily mele based then you'll get the Cyrisus that you had here with him being mele based, magic based stats will have him dressed in more magic gear, and ranged based stats will have him dressed in Ranged gear, so whilst he's not different for every account, there are 3 possible gear set-ups he can have depending on your stats

Dont usually comment, but i love your content, settled j1mmy and yourself are the reason i got into osrs, thank you and keep it up. Much love from Australia
You having an honestly genuine conversation with an NPC about how you both love fishing, and how you'd love to fish together someday, was bloody wholesome and I immediately pictured a montage of the two of you fishing in Catherby and having a pint together. Hahaha
I remember doing this quest for the first time. Felt like such an advanced quest for me and I felt like a pro once I've done it. Lunar Isle seemed like a pro player only area and I used to dream about going over there
I think this is really cool. I’ve noticed that when you do quest without a guide, it’s not really as hard as you might think, but it may take longer because you have to go back more often because you didn’t know ahead of time what you had to do.
Huge congratulations on conquering that quest! Definitely one of the harder boss fights before you get to the real big boy quests, looking forward to seeing you tricked out in barrows before long
Really loving the series! Also really happy for you that J1mmy mentioned you (again) in his last video :) I just wanted to point out a small detail: I'm quite sure Goutweed is pronounced Goodweed, as it is a joke about Marijuana!
Fun fact: "Bird's-Eye" Jack, not being a native of the Lunar Clan, doesn't actually care about your Seal of Passage, which means this quest also unlocks a bank you can access without needing the Seal of Passage! Useful is your only reason for heading to the island is to use a bank, IE for Astral Runecrafting
I can't believe I am getting *so* excited for the payoff for this recent arc of the series.... which is literally just information I have been using for the last few months that I read in a blogpost before it was even in the game. Congrats on all the hard work, and the 50k subscribers. Every single one of them is deserved. In such a short time you have really managed to cement yourself in the "Top 5 OSRS series" at least in my opinion. Your editing is great, your pacing is stellar, the concept is fantastic and your personality and commentary goes along with it so well. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing that quest cape on your back one day.
this video is bizarre. The title made me expect I was going to learn about a spell I hadn't seen before. Instead it transitioned into a weird play by play of the Dream Mentor quest, a quest I have already played through several times. I flicked ahead a bit and came across an ad or something. Then I sped towards the end and even in the last 30 seconds he was still doing Dream Mentor. I never learnt what the spell in the title was about.
I always thought Dream Mentor is written so weirdly. Even the quest itself is odd and stands out in my memory. Finding this ultra strong guy in a random cave and feeding him like a baby bird, giving him all these words of encouragement... I don't think your character is ever written to act like that in any other quest

It’s like that dying dude in that SpongeBob episode “food…. water….. atmosphere”
And in this episode we encounter the toughest obstacle of the series so far: having to carry food that isn't just 8-12 lobsters
I’m surprised he didn’t spend 3 hours trying to feed him just lobsters and wondering g why it wasn’t working.
30-50 feral lobsters

I'm so happy to say "I was here when you had sub 1k subs". I KNEW you'd go big, and I wasn't wrong. Absolutely deserved. Easily some of the best OSRS content out there. Seeing J1mmy do a shoutout to you on both his main and second channel was such a cool thing as well.
Loving the journey so far. Can't wait to see what's next.
Such a simple concept for a series, but it's executed masterfully.
Easily my favourite OSRS series of all time!
Hahaha
This might be my favorite thing to watch on RUclips 😅 and I never really played RS before but I started cause of this Playlist
30:49 "Hello" 😏
alien food released? just as it got dark outside?
life is good.
I laughed so hard at the manscaped intro. 10/10 delivery 😂😂😂
That has to be one of the best AD transitions of all time
These feel much more special when they’re spread out
dude that was one of the best manscaped ads i've seen in a fucking while. clean as hell
Absoloute beast, just caught up binging them after coming back to OSRS. Love the series mate, top drawer stuff!
Lol that transition is insane to the trimmer.
Huge congratulations on conquering that quest! Definitely one of the harder boss fights before you get to the real big boy quests, looking forward to seeing you tricked out in barrows before long
Quality of the new videos are so good bro. Good job
it's insane how much I fuck with this series
Without a doubt, that was the best segue into an ad I've ever seen.
OMG that bit into the sponsor was pure gold!!!
What a journey the lunar quest line has been! Can't wait to watch you take on the Barrows Brothers!
This series is so awesome. Its inspired me to get back to questing :)
Really loving the series! Also really happy for you that J1mmy mentioned you (again) in his last video :)
I just wanted to point out a small detail: I'm quite sure Goutweed is pronounced Goodweed, as it is a joke about Marijuana!
Hooray! I have been missing this series!
god I love this series. You're killing it man!
I look forward to Alien Food videos more than I look forward to my weekly paycheck. This series is a masterpiece
My videos are also an accepted form of currency globally, so that’s great!
Jimmy did recomend your series! Soon I will binch watch the entite episode! Seems cool!
this video is bizarre.
I am so enthralled with this story line! So excited. Love it
This man definetely would know if he did this quest before. Insert the most horrific quest boss ingame.
Best segue to an ad ever. Earned a sub
I always thought Dream Mentor is written so weirdly. Even the quest itself is odd and stands out in my memory.
Finding this ultra strong guy in a random cave and feeding him like a baby bird, giving him all these words of encouragement... I don't think your character is ever written to act like that in any other quest
Let's go gamers! Unguided has arrived just in time.
I loved your appearance on Shifty OSRS' channel as well. It scratched the itch between your uploads :)
GZ on beating dream mentor without magic! Makes it way easier but this was much more entertaining than safespotting half the phases.
Surely I'm not the only one looking forward to Season 2: Unguided clue scrolls???
God-tier ad placement. Cyrisus did not see that one coming.
Just watched this after work, great video my man
That manscaped ad caught me off guard. I was genuinely confused why he needed to shave his no no square
I am so happy you are back! :) hope the trip went well man!
That ad transition got me so good 😂
