And your division is basically up for grabs and you got more studs coming up. You guys are gonna be the national league version of the Orioles if you do it, right imo
I just looked at the tv with my jaw dropped, when it happened. I looked at my dad and jokingly said, “ yeah send him back down, he’s not quite ready.” Haven’t seen anything like that for the Reds since maybe Josh Hamilton or Adam Dunn.
Watching this kid in the minors was so much fun. Got to see him hit the ball out of the stadium one day, then later that week he hit a walkoff homerun at the end of a game where he walked his first at bat and stole second and third base. Kid is special. Honestly the most fun thing to watch about him was the joy he played with and how chatty he was in the field. He’s just a big kid out there loving life and im here for it
He's got my attention and I come from growing up watching Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in the 1960 and 1961 World Series and seasons. He is very special and massively athletic. Watch out for this athletic phenomenon.
Imagine my surprise when I later learned that he is actually a switch hitter. I assumed that when he crushed that home run with that gorgeous lefthanded swing, that he hit that way exclusively.
As a lifelong Yankees fan, this is the first time in my life I can remember *wanting* to watch Reds games. With all due respect to Mr. Ohtani, Elly De La Cruz is the most fun player to watch in MLB right now.
@@captainsmurf6616 There is no NBA equivalent to Shohei. The value he brings is just way too much for literally any person in sports once you take into account that baseball is one of the only sports where one guy can't even get you close to winning a championship. So no, not Shohei.

people only talking about elly is disrespectful to mcclain.. batting near .350 and has been incredible, the reds don’t just have one superstar. that team is the future
Add Steer, India, and Abbott too. Just wait for Christian Encarncion-Strand. .362 avg 17 HRs and 46 RBIs in 177 ABs in AAA. A team that is young with team control. The Reds are coming.
Hey...we could be the first team ever to have FOUR players ( 5 if they call up CES ) vying for R.O.Y. let's celebrate them all ! I love Matt "Die Hard" McLain too, I think he will win a batting title soon. He's got the type of approach at the plate where he won't go into prolonged slumps. Watched in person when Cincy was at Washington last Wednesday. Elly had a massive HR and two doubles. Steals bases at will. How many people lead off with a double, then steal 3rd with no outs, (if I remember it correctly.)
Some of my favorite players are from the DR. Elly even said that games are far more intense there. MLB is a walk in the park for him. And it’s showing,

Could he be the baseball version of Joe Burrow ? One player who makes their teammates rise to the challenge ? Both in the same city ? We'll see what the Reds management does with this golden opportunity.
One mistake that was probably already pointed out in the comments, but Elly is a switch-hitter. I point this out because that makes Elly the first 6-tool player in the history of the whole wide baseball world :)
