Que tal mis amigos! In today's video I will tell you all about my all time favorite coral. Please ask me any questions in the comments, I will answer them all!
Hey Daniel, this is an extraordinary video. Beautiful visuals and its easy to see you carefully researched and planned your comments. I'm looking forward to watching more videos in your channel.
Thankyou for your informative video. I had a beautiful large Hammer coral many years ago in the beginning of my hobby and sadly lost it by placing another coral next to it. I am starting this hobby again but doing my research this time.
This video is by far the most interesting, instructive and more knowledgeable I’ve been able to find, have definitely overcome my doubts about getting hammers and frogspawn, thanks for such a great video. Hope you keep doing this 👍
Such a great video. I feel like I'm watching a documentary. Thank you for doing this, especially since I'm researching for my first marine tank and hammers are on that list. Please do more of such videos! You deserve a lot more subscribers and I'm fortunate I'm one of your early ones. Thank you!
Well done Daniel, mi cuñado es de Panamá y su nombre es Daniel tambien! I am new to Coral Reef keeping and your video was very easy to understand and informative. Again, well done
Awesome video, thank you for the information. I purchased this today and greatly appreciate your input. Very well made, humble but informative video. Keep up the good work, I'm subscribed!
Love your videos so far. I haven't purchased my first tank yet, but I plan on doing something really similar to your. Euphyllia are my favorite corals too, so your tank will be a good model for my tank. Thanks for sharing. Subbed!
I'm glad my tank can serve as an inspiration for others! Euphyllia are also my favorite genus and I might do a video on torches soon. Frogspawn are not too different from hammers when thinking about care requirements so this video could help for them too.
Hi, really enjoyed your video. Haven’t had much luck with hammers and I’ve learnt from this video to not place them in high flow or strong light. Can you or any other reefers out there please elaborate on more detail on best way to acclimatise them?
I bought a frogspawn and the zooxanthaelle in the coral were green and brown. After a while in my tank it was doing really well then one day it didn't expand and it expelled all the brown algae. Right now it is a translucent green. My other frogspawn and hammer also expel brown stuff that I think is coral poop because the polyp acts normal while its "pooping" and they have the same color.
Hi! excelent video!! I've some questions about a hammer. a power head blow a lot of micro bubles on the hammer, and now is closed... do I have something to do? what can I do? Regards
New subscriber! Great video! I am starting my first reef tank. I love Hammer Coral. It is one that I want in my tank for sure. Will SPS and hammer corals work together?
I accidently discovered how easy it is to frag hammers by simply snapping them off at the base! I was trying to remove my first hammer from the frag plug by bending it at the glue, hoping the glue would release from the plug, only for the hammer itself to snap slightly above the glue! The coral itself was perfectly fine, I just glued it to the live rock and it opened up within an hour.
I have a hammer coral that started as one solid wall and in two years has divided into five separate heads I didn’t know wall corals could divide like that
Fantastic video. Out of the Euphyllia , branching Hammers are my favorite. They come in anchor heads, Hammer or hybrid sweeper heads. Crazy colors too. Well done fellow reefer.
Could you share where you found all this information? My Hammer has been doing great and suddenly has been closing up more and more and being closed for longer periods of time... Also what do you think about the Hammers liking higher levels of Magnesium?
Hey, what’s the name of the product you use for dosing your tank, I have a pico tank(5gal) and I’ll like to achieve a great looking tank like yours, thanks.
I've had a branching hammer in my tank for a couple months and the last month it just remains closed as well as no new growth, Not sure what's going on. All my other SPS and LPS corals seem to be thriving one being a torch that's been growing like crazy. Any thoughts what might be happening with my hammer?
I just ran into technical issues with my over flow. Which caused a chain reaction. I didn't notice a leaky joint in my over flow. It was slow at first n I assumed it was evaporation. So, added plain rodi. Well then I finally figured it out. Took a week, super frustration. In that week my branching hammer n other corals began showing stress. It happened almost over night, the hammer started to appear to be dying. I then fixed the leak n had tests done. I really thought my hammer died n my frogspawn was not far behind. Well found out, all looked good as parameters went except 2 critical ones. My salinity was 1.020-1.021. n my calcium was 280. Ok with that said, I took water out n added salt to slowly increase salinity. Used fusion 1 n 2, to help increase calcium. One week later I began to see short hammer tenicals. Now after a few water changes n increase on calcium n salinity, hammer is about half way to total recovery. I'm excited. Now this weekend I'm due again for a waiter change. So I almost pulled my hammer out, because I seriously didn't see any life. So these little creatures are great n hardy. I learned to not act hastily, n throw away what appears to have no life. Thank u for the video.
...learning corals after some time with fish only tank...hammer coral by itself...moderate lighting...how fast will one frag grow...will try one coral first...
I know it's an old video but I am having an issue with my hammers. Some of the heads some of the arms are stretching very long and thinning out really bad. Pls help!!
What causes the brown jelly disease? Why do some hammers sometimes look good, but suddenly hide and don't look plump no more? While other hammers are fine in tank? What iodine type do u recommend?
Hello Ali, Im really glad you find this educational. Hammers care a bit more about flow than lighting. Try to place them somewhere where they dont get buffetted by the current. Youll find them much more open.
Yes, there are a couple of tried methods ive read about. If what you want is NEW heads then you should prioritize exposing the "stem" of the coral to light. Or using a more diffuse method of light. Hammer coral heads grow from the growth plate that divides one head from the comon skeleton. You might find tiny buds on your own coral. Exposing them to light stimulates their growth. On the other hand heads become bigger with time. Some people feed their hammers, ive tried this with reef roids but i havent seen much improvement with that. High alk/ca stimulates all stony coral growth. There is a very good video by BRS comparing high alk/ca vs normal alk/ca. For more info on that. Hope it helps.
Ok pal I've had my hammer 1 day at its showed a few strings of the gooe do you think this is normal maybe a bit of stress from the re homeing cheers pal Andrew
Sorry for the late reply. Ive found my corals like to be left alone more than anything else. Keep your levels (Alk/Ca) constant, take a good look at your flow and find the right ammount of light for your coral. Hammer corals are extremely simple in care requirements, compared to the more complex acros. Think about them like taking care of a cat. 😄
FragboxTV here on RUclips, a Canadian shop, do have torches touching hammers and fragspawns in several tanks for years without any problem, they say it's a false myth they can't touch.
I agree I love my hammer coral and my frogspawn 😍 great video buddy and we'll explained this will help alot of newbies out who are wanting to dive into the lps game 👌. Do you have instagram?
PanamaReefs Daniel if u have a reef related instagram I'd support you over there aswell buddy? Check out my tank and tell me what you think buddy, that's if you don't mind 🙈☺
You may not be an expert or a marine biologist, but I have just learnt the exact reason my torch is so happy and my hammer is not coming out as far as he was in the last tank,it came down to flow...
Very clearly spoken, I can appreciate it. Thank you
Best information video of a specific corall ever!
That is one of the best updates I've seen in a long time
Thank you...great report for taking care of the hammer coral.
Hey Daniel, this is an extraordinary video. Beautiful visuals and its easy to see you carefully researched and planned your comments. I'm looking forward to watching more videos in your channel.
Great video, full of useful information. I will be getting hammer coral now. Thank you
Great video. New info and something to research even more.
Thankyou for your informative video. I had a beautiful large Hammer coral many years ago in the beginning of my hobby and sadly lost it by placing another coral next to it. I am starting this hobby again but doing my research this time.

PanamaReefs Daniel Would love to see a Torch video too! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
PanamaReefs Daniel Would love to see some explanation as to why you chose to go bare bottom as well. Thanks
This was very helpful.
Thank you for this information
Bought a 2 head frogspawn today and its awesome! Just what my tank needed.
11 months and not one fuck given

Buen video parcero! Saludos desde Canada
Great Video. I also have a Branching Hammer Coral.
good job very informative
Setting up a saltwater tank at the moment. After seeing this video I'm more excited to add a hammer coral colony than the fish.
Great video!
Awesome video!! I subbed!!
Awesome tank!

Just got a single head today its tiny but looks great it's my second coral hopefully it goes well
My oldest hammer came as a tiny one head "test" to see if i could keep corals. Now its more than a softball in size. And still growing

New subscriber! Great video! I am starting my first reef tank. I love Hammer Coral. It is one that I want in my tank for sure. Will SPS and hammer corals work together?
Pretty much just need to keep them away. Hammer will sting the sps with the sweeper tentacles at night. Just give it a good amount of space
Thank you

Nice!! Subbed!
I bought a Hammer Coral for my reef but it doesn't open completely after 5 days. The others corals are just fine. What can I do?
How to maintenace euphyllia ancora & paraancora if going dying. Thanx
Yooooooool i love your reef tank yooooooooo
Careful with the torch placement, it can sting others
Nice video
Thanks Adrian!

Yes they are very hardy! Stories like that really give me some hope for corals in the ocean.
...learning corals after some time with fish only tank...hammer coral by itself...moderate lighting...how fast will one frag grow...will try one coral first...
Hi, can i feed Tetra Bits & Marine S dissolved in water & feed to Corals ?
I know it's an old video but I am having an issue with my hammers. Some of the heads some of the arms are stretching very long and thinning out really bad. Pls help!!

You covered a large amount of facts. I feel the wiser from this video.
Cool vid i will see it agen
Your coral or simply beautiful! How long did it take for their polyps to fully extend after you introduce them to your tank?
Sorry for the short delay in replying. I hope that by now you have a great reef.
Some take a night, others a couple days. Never more than 5 for me.
Do they extend stinging tentacles at night?
Its more of a documentary than a video. Please advice on the light and placement for hammers
Thanks
Hello Ali, Im really glad you find this educational. Hammers care a bit more about flow than lighting. Try to place them somewhere where they dont get buffetted by the current. Youll find them much more open.
Hi. When u say do a 5 minutes dip in freshwater, is it pure rodi freshwater or u add anything to the freswater?
You could do it in freshwater. however you would have to use a dechlorinator first
Hola podías hacer vídeos en español, para el que no sabe inglés me parece muy interesntes tu videos gracias
Do you know any techniques which u have observed which induce the growth of hammer coral( make more heads)

Ok pal I've had my hammer 1 day at its showed a few strings of the gooe do you think this is normal maybe a bit of stress from the re homeing cheers pal Andrew
probably expelling some zooxathely from the move. Make sure to acclimate them to your light
Do you dose anything else or try anything else and move your hammer often or do you just let it grow?
Very informative.
Will the hammer grow more branches once it has been fraged? Great video by the way 👍👍👍
thank you! yes it might, depending on where it gets the light. or it might grow the size of the heads.
FragboxTV here on RUclips, a Canadian shop, do have torches touching hammers and fragspawns in several tanks for years without any problem, they say it's a false myth they can't touch.

Yep, hammers are pretty much indestructible. But bad flow can piss them off real quick
