Pretty much my exact thoughts on BR540 and its endless aspirants. FK did a great job of capturing the crystal vibe, but whereas some fragrances have a chemically texture to their accords, BR540 just smells like straight up chemicals. For $400. 😆 Yeah, no. Certainly a fan of Grand Soir, Gentle Fluidity Gold and the PERFORMANCE - which is close to nuclear - but that's pretty much it. Very surprised that Gentle Fluidity Silver reminded me of Coty's Aspen. 😄 For the first half. For the second, Aspen is just better. I will say this though - I have a 30 mL dupe of BR540 and sometimes put 1 spray under my shirt if I want attention. 🤣 Because I swear people smell those sweet chemicals from a mile away and a part of their brain alerts them to danger. 😵💫

Hello Maria. Something with a similar vibe to Gentle Fluidity Silver might be Carven L'eau Intense. The nose behind this fragrance is none other than Francis Kurkdjian. It's very reasonably priced on discounters. Great video. -- CJ
Juniper Sling Penhaligon's. I am a fan of FK work but I also enjoyed this video ❤. I think he makes safer compositions because they are more marketable, that's why he discontinued fragrances like absolute pour le soir.
Great reviews! 💜💜💜 I tend to agree with your overall thoughts on the house - most of them smell to me like they could be nice designer fragrances and not really warranting their price tags🤷🏻♀️
1:39 Thank you! I finally know what the note is in this fragrance that I can't stand! While the dry down of BR540 I find nice, the evernyl iodine smell makes me feel sick. I can't stand it. It's unfortunate that every other person wears it and I don't understand how it doesn't bother them either.
I wish it was listed in the notes on this fragrance and ones like it. It typically isn't unfortunately.

Thank you! I agree with you. I think I’ve sampled all of their fragrances for males/unisex, and I have only purchased 3 of them. Amyris Homme always smelled like a hundred different fragrances you could purchase at Dillard’s dept store. Like…meh! 🤷🏻♂️😐 Don’t want to smell like everyone else or like cologne guy. 😉
from the house i most enjoy feminin pluriel. but i agree its probably nor super unique! just pretty and safe and soft
I second your opinions. Another good and bold one was Kashmir Oud, but it has been discontinued. Oud Silk mood is more original than Satin for it has camomile and slightly metallic accord, without being overly sweet.
I must admit I own and enjoy Oud Satin Mood. Indeed, let us not get started on rose-oud. It is not novel, but to me it is different enough. Other than that, I too dislike BK540, for all the reasons you mention and more. And I have no interest in any of the others.
OOh the shade…😀. Nailed it pretty much. I so wanted to be on the BR540 bandwagon but it smelled like a Bandaid on me.
I agree SO much with everything you say... I hate BR500, smells like hospital to me; I don't care with the 200 freshies he has, not my thing and you can find 1000 much cheaper alternatives; I hate his ouds, smell very acid, sour, pungent and synthetic.... And I hate satin mood and all its copies like Nina ricci extase absolute, which he himself made (he copies himself!) but costs MUCH less..... (I agree with you 100% about dating mood...it is that synthetic sharp oud that burns your nodtrils..) I want to try Grand Soir. Somehow I have not given up yet...I think Grand Soir will be my MFK...but we will see, because I have A TON of really outstanding amber's already, since resinous perfumes are nah thing..dunno if this one will live up to the standard to be honest, specially for the price. I hate that he is the new Dior perfumer since I am not a fan at all of hismwork. He will be very succesful tho....because I deff can read the market trends and adheres to them with a passion...that's why you can find 100 similar perfumes to each of his frags... And that's exactly why for me it is a huge MEH house
I think niche brands lose their ‘magic’ when they sell out to big players!
