Winner Winner Chicken Dinner ! What a wholesome video. Jim from Cheese 🧀 Head Mining seemed like a great guy. "Anything coming?" "Nope" 😂 That's one of many good things about Alaska, I'm sure, is the isolation.
Thanks, Scott! Jim was a lot of fun! 😁🤗💜 I guess we will owe him some royalties now 😂 once this video goes viral 😁😂. I honestly don't think from Tok to Chicken that we passed any cars at all on the Taylor Highway... Yes so very remote and so beautiful! 🙏🤗💜
Well, I know there was a lot of discussion about nudity but I didn't include any naked chicken pics in the video to keep it PG13, lol! And congratulations on winning that naked chicken dinner, lol! We owe you and Mrs BD Rider one, lol! The sun is shining here today but the snow is still blowing sideways and it's hard to keep the porch furniture on the porch. Enjoy the sunny south! 🤗🤗💜💜💙💙
Very good advice, indeed, Richard!! Cheers to you too! Is it cold there? Balmy 13 degrees here today but the sun is shining so there's that...Spyder dreaming weather!! 🤗🙏🏻💜
That is so cool!! Hope your wife struck it rich! What was your vehicle choice to get there? The road conditions were so rough for us...in my last long video (the one about striking it rich gold panning) I show how my go pro mount broke in three places...it was aluminum and I was shocked that happened. We stayed at an airbnb in Tok when we first arrived in Alaska. Thanks for your comment and have a blessed day!
Oh, Jim was a hoot for sure!! Wish we could have stuck around a bit longer to chat more with him! I hope he struck it rich before he headed back to Wisconsin! 💜🤗🌟
@PurpleOnThree I don't have any favorites. Every ride has its memorable moments to me. Anything from a kid excited to point me out or the 80 year young grandma wanting a picture sitting on the bike, even to the rain stinking my skin on a hot day. I'm just thankful to enjoy all of it. I'm a 3 times cancer survivor, blessed by God !!

I hope Jim struck it rich and I hope he was able to figure out RUclips to watch this video! He gave great advice on being kind! Happy new year to you, Heather! 🤗🤗💜💜🙏🏻🙏🏻
Absolutely a blessing, Mriam! What a great couple! Just love meeting folks out on the road and spending time with them! Turns out, we practically drove by their house in Oklahoma when we did our Route 66 trip! 💜🤗
Tom! Hope you are well and keeping warm!! Do you have much snow? We got a lot last night and it is so cold here today. Yes, Jim was very nice and so much fun! Good advise he gives because kindness does matter! Stay warm and safe!
Yes, Rob, it was a bummer! We had to get out the Yukon Jack instead, lol, BUT our new friends, Debbie and Jim, were kind enough to share some fresh brewed coffee the next morning! Such lovely folks! Hope you have a blessed new year!! 🤗💜🙏🏻

Hi Wendy! Thank you... This was our last town in Alaska before we started our Trek home. Yes, they were, Xavier! And guess what...right after we left Chicken the pavement ended ...again...and the road was horride almost the whole way to the Canadian border...I may have cried a time or two!! Jim was so much fun!! 🤗💜😁✌🏻
What an awesome video 😀 watching Jim pan for gold was exciting. Just new he was going to hit it big 😅 Man those were some rough roads you had to ryde on. Shake you to death 😂 Just think Spring is only 10 weeks away 😃 Ryde safe and God Bless
Woo hoo! Thank you for the countdown, Artie!! Can't wait...going to be below zero with the wind chill tonight. Yes, some of the roads were ROUGH!! In my previous video where we start out on the Taylor Highway, I put that pic in of my broken GoPro mount...aluminum and it broke in 3 places because the roads were so rough! Hope you guys are doing well! 💜🤗
Yep! That aluminum mount had broken in three places and I discovered that when we got to the campground...I didn't have an extra mount with me so that was the end of my handlebar mount for the rest of this trip. I have two more of different sizes here at home to try.
Yes, Eric! Those roads were not fun and from Chicken to the border I cried a time or two because of the road conditions...I couldn't even keep up with Tommy. Yes, Jim was hilarious! I never thought to get his contact info...I sent a message to Chicken Gold Camp, hoping they can get in touch with him so he can watch this video someday...if someone helps him figure out what RUclips is lol. You should see the snow we have here! And it's darn cold!! Hope you are keeping warm there!
Frost heaves, Darren....the roads in Alaska are quite rough and much of the time I was concentrating on keeping my Spyder in one piece and missed some of the scenery around me...
Awwh, Bob, thank you so very much and Happy New Year to you! Yes, I would say recovery, though not as fast as I would like, has been going well. My headaches, though almost daily, have lessened in intensity and I am grateful for days when I practically forget about them! Hope our wheels cross paths this year!! 💜🤗🙏🏻
Good morning! It looks like the weather was perfect on that day. Alaska is so beautiful. On a mechanical note, with all the gravel roads y’all rode on, any issues with drive belts? I hope that you’re doing well. 😊
Hey there, Rusty! Let's just say, I would not recommend a street bike in the interior of Alaska or in the Yukon in Canada. We are grateful there weren't any issues. I believe there is only one Can-Am Spyder dealer in Alaska...more than one off road dealer though. We had tools with us, a jump start pack, air compressor and tire plug kit and are extremely grateful we did not need to use any of that stuff! We also put brand new tires on before we left home (it's 4300 miles just to the border of Alaska from our house) and we each had our bikes serviced before we left. I also shipped an oil kit to a friend's house at North Pole and was able to change my oil there. So, we did some preventative maintenance but still...I worried about my belt with all that gravel. Thank you! Guess what? I had two almost headache free days in a row...I am thankful for that. Can't wait to get back out there and ride some more!! Have a blessed day! Hope you and your wife are out there enjoying some rides! 💜🤗
@@PurpleOnThree two days in a row? That’s awesome! Progress is always a good thing. 👍. It’s 11 degrees and there’s a thin layer of ice on everything today. The Spyders hibernating this week. 🥶
Chicken Alaska was such a cool and quirky place !! Glad you made it there to see it ! Personally, i thought the gravel was better than the pavement ! the best chicken sandwich we had on that trip was in Chicken Alaska
Quirky! That is a perfect word to describe it, Craig! Pavement??? What pavement? lol I can't remember what kind of sandwich we had at the cafe but I do know it was tasty! Hope you and Lucinda are enjoying some warm, sunny weather! It is darn cold here!! But we had sunshine for a few days so I guess we really can't complain!!
1 dollar for a minute, Tommy had to be quick there. :) The guy there showing how to "find gold" was a real entertainer. Great. Tommy mentioned to the guy that you "make a dollar a year". :) Cool. Enjoyed the video. "Be kind to people..." That is something to remember. Great video Jody. Drop by to check my Trip to Romania Series. Cheers.
Oh absolutely we sure enjoyed Jim! He has been around the block a time or two and he gives good advice and he's also quite humorous! Kindness certainly matters! 🙏❤️. I will head over to watch more of Romania today with a cup of coffee and the fire in the fireplace. Have a blessed day, Gregor! 🤗🙏💜 Thank you!
Well, Roberto, there is a story about this...Google it but here is what I found and we had been told this in Alaska as well: "In 1902 the local post office was established, requiring a community name. Due to the prevalence of ptarmigan in the area, that name was suggested as the official name for the new community. However, the spelling could not be agreed on, and "Chicken" was used to avoid embarrassment" and that's from Wikipedia. Well, maybe the CEO struck it rich. If you look up Chicken Gold Camp on Facebook, there are some pretty cool pics of folks who have joined the "one ounce" club!
We didn't make it that far into Alaska, but Chicken looks to be a very interesting place. Seems like you'd have e better luck finding eggs in chicken than gold😅😅😅
Would have been cool to see that dredge working, still pulling gold out of that dirt after its already processed? or are they not worth them processing?
Yes, would have been super cool to see! When I was a kid, my grandparents took us to a beach in Florida...they retired to Florida...maybe Venice beach and there was a dredge there working...we got some amazing sea shells there!! If you check out Chicken Gold Camp on Facebook, you will see some pretty cool pics of folks in the "one ounce" club...so I would say, yes, it's still worth a look through that paydirt...maybe there is just more dirt than they can look through themselves.... 🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀
WhY did the Giant ptarmigan walk across the road ?? 🤔 ... Because it doesn't know how to rYde a Can Am SpYder. 🕷️🕸️😎🇺🇲. StaY Alert. rYde safe in a fun waY. Keep on SpYdering. 🕷️🕸️😎🇺🇲💜💜💜💙💙
Bah hah hah!! Now that's a good one...you know we used to have chickens on our farm and one of them enjoyed riding the sled...I'm not kidding lol...and another one used to like to roost on our grill on the porch...I guess her relatives forgot to warn her of what we use the grill for lol!! 😁😁😁
The town is actually called Chicken 😂 Debbie and Mike sound lovely to offer you dinner 🙂 I'm so surprised to see gold mining is still very much a thing over there, I think it's awesome 🙂 Jim is such an interesting fella, I bet you could talk to him for hours. Loving these videos, hope you're both well 🙂
Thank you, Grant! Right now it is darn cold and snowy here, lol! Yep, called Chicken, instead of Ptarmigan because that word is too hard to spell....😁😂seriously, look it up! Yep, something tells me we could have spent a lot longer chatting with Jim but we had a border to get to lol. Hope you are doing well! 💜🤗✌🏻And if you look up the Facebook page for Chicken Gold Camp, there are pics of some folks who are in the "one ounce" club...you won't see our pic there lol
Good one Jody, enjoyed this, It's definately on my list to go gold panning. But the Chickentown references put the creepy 'Chickentown' song from John Cooper Clarke in my head. If you haven't heard it, don't google it. It's cuss word every second word... Aha, does Tommy G mean Tommy Gold!
Tommy Gold...hmmm...that has a ring to it, Darren!! I hope you can go gold panning sometime. I can see how folks could get get fever... OK, I won't google that song, but I am very tempted lol. I definintely don't know it! lol 😂😂🐔🐔
Yep, I would say Jim knows what he's doing when it comes to panning for gold! I sure hope he got to see this video...I think we owe him $1.00 or maybe even $2.00 lol
Oh, heck, Wayne! I don't know if you were first or 2nd but you know you are a winner, no matter what! Is it sunny and 75 there today? I can't believe how much snow we got and it isn't 75 here either lol! 💜😁🤗💙🐔
@PurpleOnThree It is sunny here today. The temperature did dip a little below 75 overnight, where we got dumped on... I think we almost got 1 whole inch of that white stuff... I'll send you a pic 😁
WhY did the Giant Ptarmigan walk across the road ??🤔. ... I don't understand the question. WhY do we need to know that ??🤔🙃. The Ptarmigan should be Free to walk across the road anY time it wants, without everYone getting in it's business about it.😂. Geeze !!! 🕷️🕸️😎🇺🇲💜💜💜💙💙.
And just exactly how much does a giant ptarmigan weigh??? Inquiring minds want to know lol!! So, is there an answer to your question?? I don't think we saw any ptarmigans or chickens (real ones) while we were in Alaska...We did see some bug eating magpies though!! They cleaned my Spyder grill out very, very well!! 😂💜🤗💙
How much does a Giant Ptarmigan weigh ?? Great question. Thanks for the inquirY . We, here at The Alaska Ptarmigan Farms, get that question a lot. However, being all specifications of our products are Copyright and Proprietary Trademarked propertY, therefore Can't Not be disclosed to the public. With that being said, we can tell that it doesn't weigh as much as it looks like it should, well edible portions. First there manY, manY feathers that are " puffed out ?? " Tha are there to protect them from natural predators. Then feet are unable to be eaten for the most part, but Can be used as weapons, in the right hands. 🥴. Then the head of course, have some parts considered as delicates. Then skull the can be mounted, to show off or scare off, of course that's a priceY additional option. Thanks again for Your Interest.👍👊 We hope this is helpful to inquiring minds. 😎🇺🇲

Did Not see anY chickens, while in Chicken Alaska ?? That's a good observation. However That's Not unusual at all. I mean theY can't all live off fresh Fish, All the time?? Another reason that the Alaska Ptarmigan is secluded and protected. 🥴😎🇺🇲.
Well, you sure have done your research!! Thank you lol!! Guess what? When we raised chickens, both for eggs and also meat birds, someone asked me to save the feet when we butchered so they could make soup out of them...I'm like, nope, not doing that...not walking around with a bag of chicken feet...@@thegrumpyolgringo 🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔

What a wacky name for a town 😂 I can't believe you popped Tommy's air bed Jody! 😂

My dad loved eating chicken gizzards. (Down in Tucker Holler, Kentucky.) 😂😂
Me too!!!
@@PSPTommyG 🤮
TC, is that anywhere near Butcher Holler, lol?? 😁😁😁I think I can say with all honesty that I have never eaten a chicken gizzard, lol
@@PurpleOnThree 😂😂 Nope Jody, Butcher Holler (Loretta Lynn’s birthplace) is in eastern Kentucky. Tucker Holler is in south-central Kentucky. 💜💜
@TC_Conner 😁😁😁 thank you for clarifying!
WhY did the Giant Ptarmigan cross the road ?? ... Because there was no one there to stop 🛑 it. 😊. 😎🇺🇲.
Well, I was wrong!! Happens on occasion...just ask TommyG lol....😂😂😂It's a Ptarmigan joke, not a chicken joke!! 😂💙💜
@@PurpleOnThree As I mentioned there should be some chicken jokes, but I think of anY as of Yet. 🤪😄🙃
What makes the side of the road crack like that? 😯
Frost heaves, Darren....the roads in Alaska are quite rough and much of the time I was concentrating on keeping my Spyder in one piece and missed some of the scenery around me...
Just an amazing trip. I hope the recovery is still going well, we all care.
You both are definitely no chickens on this journey. love the panning great job, Cheers Dave
Thank you, Dave! I checked out the Facebook page for Chicken Gold Camp, and there are some folks who have found quite a bit of gold!
You should have had Tommy panning for gas money, LOL, cheers
@@HarleysDinersRides lol Dave...he Panned for gas money in the last video 😂... Didn't work out so well so yeah LOL
What a cool video! Thanks for continuing to share your experiences, Jody and Tommy!

@@PurpleOnThree I believe you. I see. Cool. Thanks. :) Say hi to Tommy.

Yay, the cafe is open. Why would they name it chicken lol. Looks like the CEO make $1 😁
Well, Roberto, there is a story about this...Google it but here is what I found and we had been told this in Alaska as well: "In 1902 the local post office was established, requiring a community name.
@@PurpleOnThree wow, what a cool story. I’ll check it out.
We didn't make it that far into Alaska, but Chicken looks to be a very interesting place. Seems like you'd have e better luck finding eggs in chicken than gold😅😅😅
I mean yeah, lol, we did find spaghetti there!! 😁😁😁

UHH, water is a dollar a minute.... well, a one minute shower is do-able 😅
Well, maybe for those without hair on their heads, lol!! It's a little bit harder when trying to use purple conditioner, lol!

I'm so surprised to see gold mining is still very much a thing over there, I think it's awesome 🙂
Jim is such an interesting fella, I bet you could talk to him for hours.

Thank you, Grant! Right now it is darn cold and snowy here, lol! Yep, called Chicken, instead of Ptarmigan because that word is too hard to spell....😁😂seriously, look it up!
I definintely don't know it! lol 😂😂🐔🐔
Debbie and Chef Mike to the rescue! Such fun times in Chicken 😂. Jim is a hoot! Thanks for the nice card!

We would be thrilled to schedule a tour of the Farms, during Your next Alaskan Adventures. 🥴😎🇺🇲.
Did Not see anY chickens, while in Chicken Alaska ?? That's a good observation. However That's Not unusual at all. As You and TommY G, MaY have come to realize, that are manY manY forms of Wildlife, and Wilderness creatures, I'm sure the chickens are being consumed bY such creatures.
