Radagon is a great boss but Elden Beast will unfortunately be what everyone will remember as the final boss. If they tweaked his AI to not run so much and have more moves to defend itself while sitting still then it'd be good.
Radagon should've been the final boss. With Elden Beast being for optional endings like Ranni and the flame. If you just become the Elden Lord the Elden Beast has no reason to fight you. But if you're trying to overthrow his influence through the flame or ranni then yeah he has a reason to fight.
@@aethlred7380 well although it's very vague, I interpreted that the Elden Beast would fight you no matter what. The Greater Will is very particular with what it likes. I think that once you helped bring the pieces of the Elden Ring back, it has no more use for a Tarnished. It liked having Radagon as Elden Lord and didn't want a Tarnished to be one
I'm gonna be honest, Godfrey/Hoarah is such a respectable character, because he gives respect back. If you die to him, he tells you you fought nobly; He doesn't look down on you for being Tarnished, he simply acknowledges that you are. And he calls you Warrior, which is clearly a sign of respect from him as his second phase he denotes HIMSELF as Warrior. Then, upon beating him... "You are worthy." EDIT: To everybody coming in all holier-than-thou "dude he's a tarnished lol", I don't have Elden Ring, I didn't know. I think I got it by the 5th person. You can stop coming in and @'ing me saying "HE'S TARNISHED, IDIOT".
Well he is tarnished himself if look at the lore. Before and after becoming a Demigod known as Godfrey. He was both depending on period the leader of both. His first death likely sparked old negative sentiment of the tarnished. Gotta remember some of these characters lived what seems like probably centuries. Godfrey outside those close to him didn't know he was tarnished himself. Or I don't recall that being brought till we see his remembrance and his old name prior to his status as First Elden Lord. My point is he knows full well a tarnish is capable given he is one himself. He also was a leader to all so he shows respect like a true lord to those worthy. To me him giving up his Demigod name to his original name half through the fight is showing full respect. No longer playing the god and instead a fellow tarnished fighting for a great battle.
Aside from him being a Tarnished, the reason he uses his real name in the second phase is because being "The First Elden Lord" really doesn't mean anything. The Elden Lord is just a consultant to Marika, the actual Queen. So he uses the name and title that has actual value to him after you show him you are worth it: Horoah Loux, Chieftain of the Badlands.
What everyone doesn’t realise is that Charlie did all of this on release day, within 24 hours he amassed 120hours of game time, because his horde of Charlie’s also played at the same time
@@teemutaavettila1832 I can’t, only one man is capable of this, big Charles, and he never exposed his methods, the most elusive man in history we know so much yet so little
Well in this end your character is King/Queen Consort to Ranni. Much of what may come from this is up to tons of interpretation. Still the power is in both your and her hands. The old way is done/Two Fingers done with. To me it can signify in positive outlook that those living will no longer be controlled by some Order. Instead guided by wisdom/knowledge. Or both you and Ranni in literal leave the realm to the stars and venture forth. I know some interpret worse way that Earth/realm was on is doomed... I don't see that as the case be Ranni involved or not/leave. Some think that due to some of her words talking about the moon, cold, and space as literally meaning the realm will become desolate or Ranni going to go Jenova on the Planet 😅🤣. I don't think what bit is given in general lore and her actions that worse case is accurate. Apologies for going on a bit of a silly tangent. Just bringing some possibilities for end meaning. I'm in the positive outlook camp of course.
@@VanTesla yeah she did this to go against the Greater Will as they wanted her to succeed Marika. I think the true antagonist of the game is the Elden Ring/Greater Will itself, in effect making what Ranni is doing right
@@anabenskywalker122 agreed. It's obvious the Greater Will isn't good, but to be fair isn't evil. It's a entity in itself trying to impose it's will for reasons we aren't fully aware why. It is though caused much of the conflicts and it has pushed those that follow it to do atrocities. In some of the ending where you can impose a different order in a way is subverting it's will, but still using it in a way likely to create another conflict down the line. Unless it's Order end which makes it seem "you" the Greater Will has control over all life now... So either you control all or the Will does and both is terrible obviously for everyone else. Fractured end is pretty much in my view saying well history is going to repeat eventually. Dung Eater/Despair end is hey everyone will be born tortured and miserable... Hurray!! Frenzied Flame is just everything burns be it the Greater Will, Order, tarnished, and etc. Deathborn/bed end is I interpret taking away the cycle of immortality and allowing all to live and die like originally. If that includes the Greater Wil I think perhaps as it is forcing it onto itself. So out of all endings I think the only good or seen as generally good is Ranni's and Fia's versions. The rest are either bad or at best your character being the ultimate controller or destroyer.
It's really funny seeing what Gideon's fight is actually supposed to look like, because in my playthrough as soon as he was done talking I staggered him with the Commander's Standard until he died. I had no idea he was actually ballin
Another fun fact about the waifu ending... If you go back to the tower and exhaust her dialog...Instead of "My Fair Consort, Eternal" She will say "My Dear Consort, Eternal"
Maliketh was probably the hardest boss in the game when it comes to mandatory bosses, dude legit never stands still and keeps moving. Malenia being the hardest boss overall by far but Maliketh was also good.
I still think radagon and elden beast is the hardest main boss because of second phase being elden beast and having a completely different movement from radagon
This was one of the funnest games I’ve played in recent memory. I’m still running around looking for stuff to do (and finding a lot of missed stuff) long after the final boss went down. Great videos.
I loved the Radagon fight, it's such a satisfying and well designed boss. Nothing bullshit, plenty flashy, and just the right amount of damage to the player.
The bullshit part is that you have to fight him every single time you die to the elden beast. Early game is 10/10 but late game is just pure ds2 levels of trash
@@csaba9285 Lol everyone complaining about the late game are just jumping on the bandwagon to blame the game because they got their ass beat. Every single boss is fair.
@@arcanefire7511 I didn't even have to read you full comment to know that your point is that everyone is at fault and the game doesn't have any flaws whatsoever lmao. I have been playing souls games for long enough to know that people can't have opinions, unless you are completely blowing miyazaki's wiener.
For the big circle aoe that the elden beast does, you can jump over the rings that come in on you. Dodging through them without the dash ash of war gets you caught at the tail end of its hitbox every time unless you got pixel perfect timing.
I just ran backwards to get out of that ring and the beast also dashes behind you after that ring move, so when she/or he finishes that attack he dashes right on you
i think this is where having a rounded build gives me an advantage: ofnir's spells didn't hit me nearly that hard....like he was mini boss easy. oh wow i didn't even know elden beast had a crucifixion lol, that was awesome.
I feel like The Elden Beast is a low note to end on. The first phase of the fight with Radagon seems designed purely to make you waste heals with his huge AoEs and lightning quick teleport damage. All while the second phase with the beast is nothing but chasing the fucker around dodging hundreds of projectiles.
I absolutely love the beast. Such a spectacle, and while chasing him down does get frustrating, the projectiles offer a way of keeping the player in check especially since you likely have less flasks to chug from your last fight with radagon. I think it comes down to the player’s mindset of being patient with the boss while also being persistent
Yeah. I really liked Radagon and was expecting a Second Phase with him or maybe even Marika, since you see her before Radagon takes over. Visually speaking, the Elden Beast is cool, but the actual fight is really bad. Sad they decided to go for that after the bangers that were Horoah Loux and Radagon. Like, Imagine fighting Gael and Artorias back to back then suddenly it transforms into a Gaping Dragon and that's your actual last boss. Extremely underwhelming. Would had been so much better, both in terms of a fight and thematically if instead of Elden Beast it was Astal, The Natural Voidborn.

Seppuku on left, Bloodhound step on right, and carry some Blood grease. A little less bleed buildup than double seppuku, but you still get Bloodhound so win win
Elden Beast run mode is the easiest way to beat it aside from it just freezing in place. Its moving away makes it tedious, but its ranged moves are far more deadly when in melee range.
The thing is that this game was designed to be played with summons, that's why I had no trouble using them asap on Godskin duo, clearly a fight designed to be played 2v2 as most other duo bosses, it's just the same fights with less opportunity, just use summons on those.
Im so glad they added horse combat to Elden beast so you don’t have to deal with the constant running. He’s one of my favorites cause he’s cool and has a beautiful soundtrack so if you don’t have to deal with the constant running it’s great.
I really cheated myself out of experiencing this game by use sword of night and flame. I never saw a quarter of these attacks because I killed most bosses in like 40 seconds.
Yeah, I can understand that. Unfortunately I was using mimic tear towards the end of my playthrough, and I felt the change immediately in pace. Felt wrong first trying Godfrey and beating Maliketh within a few tries without being able to dodge his moves properly. Going through the bosses on NG+ no mimic.
@@elyoshbonklin5505 This might sound weird, but I first tried Maliketh using the Mimic costing me 7 flasks. I did him again first try today without, costing me 3 flasks. Malenia as well. On my first playthrough I got her second try with Mimic. On my second playthrough I got her first try no Mimic. Some bosses are a lot easier without the Mimic as they have tough patterns to follow if they aren't focusing on you.
Eventhough the Elden Beast was pretty frustrating to fight, I feel like the design was really super well done. Seeing the first cutscene transition into Phase 2 was straight up majestic, my jaw dropped. I actually just let the boss kill me because I wanted to see the cutscene again. Favorite Boss Design of all time for me.
It looked cool but it felt like it was designed with the idea that you could ride torrent while fighting it and then to make it more “difficult” didn’t let us do that.
@WindTheBrave Nice write up. I agree with you, but maybe because I’m partial to the Elden Beast in particular. The atmosphere during the fight was so out of this world eventhough it kept running away like Charlie mentioned, I feel like I didn’t fixate on that as much or at least not consciously. Having our Journey in Elden Ring end fighting God or at least the Incarnation of the Elden Ring itself was a great closure to the game. I just love everything about this final fight in particular.
@WindTheBrave Distancing yourself from your enemy is a smart tactic you would use in real life, but it's poor design in that it reduces engagement from the player. The Elden Beast running away is the equivalent of someone going 'I don't want to play anymore' as soon as they start losing, and then starting over again. It's poor design not because it's hard, but because it's frustrating in how it limits your ability to fight back.
@WindTheBrave I would have liked it if it was a separate fight with radagon it just makes victory over him a stunning and difficult boss cheap. I feel like all elden beasts moves while looking beautiful just did to much damage and getting hit once wasted your already low resources it just soured me to a huge extent. Radagon should have been the end that’s that if elden beast was more like Gerhman and moon presence it would have been tolerable
it was a cool boss fight, but as a strength player it was the most annoying boss fight i've ever played, i would land one hit, and it would either do a undodgeable or 5 frames to dodge attack or run away and spam ranged attacks. dude was actually cheesing me at that point
Fun fact: if you go back to the Grace in Ranni’s chamber (after you kill the baleful shadow) and rest there you can talk to her again. If you exhaust her dialogue there she calls you “dear consort eternal” instead of “fair consort eternal. You’ll know you exhausted her dialogue when she ask a question ending in her calling you her “one and only lord”.

Charlie will one day be the ambassador of Dos X's since he is clearly the most interesting man on earth... He didn't play Elden Ring, Elden Ring plays him...
I gotta agree with u on that elden beast thing. Phase 1 was so much more interesting than killing a space cock with a large health pool. It was honestly unengaging imo especially when there were so many good bosses prior that actually tested everything you've learned while playing the game.
@AsukaWorshiper69 this background visuals and music was amazing no doubt. But fromsoft has had that with an amazing final boss experience. For example Isshin Sword Saint version. I don't think the elden beast holds a candle to that boss even with the visuals and music because that boss fight had it all.

Radagon is a great boss but Elden Beast will unfortunately be what everyone will remember as the final boss. If they tweaked his AI to not run so much and have more moves to defend itself while sitting still then it'd be good.

@@abuckarooboyo7104 riding Torrent through the final battle would've been epic
Radagon should've been the final boss. With Elden Beast being for optional endings like Ranni and the flame. If you just become the Elden Lord the Elden Beast has no reason to fight you. But if you're trying to overthrow his influence through the flame or ranni then yeah he has a reason to fight.
@@aethlred7380 well although it's very vague, I interpreted that the Elden Beast would fight you no matter what. The Greater Will is very particular with what it likes. @@Lohengramm999 me either. I get there's some obvious references but sometimes people are just thinking too deep
"You are worthy."
EDIT: To everybody coming in all holier-than-thou "dude he's a tarnished lol", I don't have Elden Ring, I didn't know. I think I got it by the 5th person. You can stop coming in and @'ing me saying "HE'S TARNISHED, IDIOT".
He is probably the only boss that respects you because he is the first tarnished.
If you pay enough attention to his lore Godfrey is your distant ancestor, as well as the first tarnished.
It's why radahn when he was sane respected him so much and even wore his armour.

@@gionsina7373 That has the stars on her sides and four hands? That power I can respect
I just finished the game and “he just keeps running” sends shivers down my bone. As a melee player, this final boss was hell.
