Mike, I am very impressed with your articulate presentation of this nostalgic layout. The photography is so realistic that at times I wasn’t certain if I was looking at the actual buildings, trains and landscapes or representations of them created with astonishing detail in the layout! Simply outstanding in how you and your amazing friends were able to recreate this most memorable layout. Thank you for posing it for our enjoyment!
Stellar! Sir, your layout - the workmanship, the millions of hours, and probably 'Nearly" a million dollars later - is beyond wonderful. Thank you (so very much) for sharing this video. Beautiful.
Had the opportunity to visit this layout on the invite of the Vargas brothers, it’s and AMAZING layout, seeing it in person was amazing, seen it twice so far and got to run a train on my last visit, as soon as they finish the Keddie WYE, I’m going to visit it again, met Mike the owner too, great guy
Just hope to do a little of this unbelievable modeling Nd landscaping. Love the way mike took photos then populated this layout with snapshots of his life. Gary
Absolutely love this layout. I was born and raised in the area. I worked in Yuba City for many years at the old Yuba City refrigeration next to the old Sacramento, northern rail yard the reason why I got into Model Railroad and Trains is because of this part of Northern California and growing up in Butte and Yuba counties. The train history is just absolutely amazing. Yuba City, Marysville is so unique thanks for sharing. I really need to go down and see this train layout I live so close. 👍🚂
Thanks to John and Cydney for Sharing all the work created for TSG viewers. The FT WP and Rio Grande are 3rd rail models Full Steam and Diesel Ahead Hope Layout inspires New O Scale Railroaders to Get out and work on their railroads! Best Dan and Armando Vargas
I loved this presentation. I was born and raised in Bakersfield and my uncle and grandparents lived on Etna so I traveled the length of California many times as a child. I loved to see the Cab forwards in Dunsmuir and Tehachapi. As a child, my mom lived on a farm near Corning so I am very familiar with the area you have modeled. Did you ever think of modeling the Depew warehouses I use to see along the 99W? Or the Bill & Kathy's restaurant in Dunnigan from before the I-5? C
2000 Square feet is huge for a train room… I’m a big fan of the Sac Northern, and I’m glad he incorporated it into the layout. I’m also a big fan of the SP Sacramento Locomotive Works, and this is the first time I’ve seen anyone attempt to build it to scale. Very impressive… I would love to see the layout in person some day…
Wow growing up with the WP & SP east of Reno sure bring back Many Memories, sure hope I can get my layout morning forward soon..another example of Stellar content TSG John you Rock!

Mike You me tioned someone in the video who made the 2 rail switches. I am considering going from 3 rail to 2 rail. Can you give me the contact info for the 2 rail guy who helped you? Thanks very much. Gary
Hi Dan Vargas When we built layout for Mike Andrews’s,we had Craftmen Specializing in custom switches Brad Strong, signature Switches hope you enjoy the 2Rail and this contact will help. We Thank John and Cydney great friends and bring beautiful Layout videos. We support and tell all Clients to enjoy the TSG professional videos and Patreon!
I just love O Scale 2 Rail. I know O Scale 3 rails popular, but to me the big gigantic couplers and the big gigantic flanges on the wheels just don’t look realistic. I’d rather get out of the hobby, then go to O Scale 3 Rail. Sorry 3 rail guys. I just can’t do it.
Mike described the building in the video. A layout diagram suitable for use in this program was not available, and it is not possible to run a train all the way around it, as it is not set up that way. We included the "cab ride" shots that were available at the time of recording.
God, this R R is just beautiful. Down to earth guys too. Right on.
Thank you.
Unbelievable, really impressive modeling...thanks for sharing it on RUclips.

Amazing level of detail in your layout! Thanks for the tour.
Well Done Sir. That's the best layout setup I have seen yet. Very very Cool. Awesome work 😊😊😊

I know MTH & ATLAS make 2rail. Never heard of Lionel making modern trains in 2 rail. So are your engines made by MTH and ATLAS?

true haha every other scale is 2 rail.
Would of liked to see the track plan as well along with the size of your layout in feet and at least one lap around the lay-out.
