- #travel to #kingsisland and #explore #orion which is the pnew for 2020 and the latest #gigacoaster by #bolligerandmabillard to come out to date. Being 300ft (on a good day) this ride provides a solid first half of a coaster, then there is some to be desired. Lacking 2-3 elements this ride is short but definitely sweet. Themed to a space exploration, #kingsisland really did go for theming and it shows around the cue and station. Enjoy Orion.🛰☄️ Height:287ft Drop:300ft MPH:91

I think Orion is underrated. Not every good coaster has to break a record to be great. It's intense, smooth, fast, and, It has what it takes to be a giga. It could be a little longer but, I think it's good for what it is. At the end of the day, Orion wasn't meant to steal audiences or crowds like how Fury 325 was. Which is why I think it was cool that it was Kings Island's latest edition. Especially of this size in terms of theming and a whole dedicated area
Cedar fair was the one that use the term "giga" first when they built Millennium Force. Thoosies thought of it as a scientifical definition when it really is just marketing, so cedar fair has the right to change the term whenever they want. Plus the drop is 300f, so that still counts as a giga. Maybe if it was on a flat plot of land it would've been taller than fury but even then, it's still a good ride and it's at my bucket list.
Pretty sure Orion breaks the record for world's tallest brake run.
My 2nd favorite coaster. Right behind Steel Vengence.

I just experienced this coaster for the first time YESTERDAY!! We celebrated my grandson’s 10th birthday and
King’s Island was where we all took him. That ride is AMAZIIIIIIING!!

Here is a hot take: If this was at Knotts, people would be raving over it, but because it is a King’s Island, people feel the need to complain about every aspect of this amazing ride.
This is basically a fact rather than a take. If it were at any other park in the world it would be hyped to no end. Instead, people wrongfully compare it to Diamondback.
@@terrencehill6772 it’s my home park too. They are definitely not the same at all. The speed and g-forces are emphasized more on Orion. Diamondback is all about floater air time. Orion literally has 1 camelback. The layouts are completely different. The track looks the same, but that’s where the similarities end. They don’t even have the same trains lol. They have similar track lengths, but Orion flies through its layout in the same time it takes DB to reach its MCBR. 😭
@@danielsummerville5805 I get what you’re saying, and I wasn’t being literal, when I said they were the same but bro they’re literally the same design. I don’t understand how anybody couldn’t see the similarities. They literally look the same.
@@terrencehill6772 they are both Hyper coasters by b&m (one is a giga), but the similarities end at the top of the lift hill. The layouts are way different. Orion has more off-axis and banked elements that are taken at a much faster pace. Diamond back is almost exclusively camelback hills. I guess they might look the same to someone who doesn't know the difference, but a ride on both will end that thought. Alot of people get on orion hoping for the same floater airtime you get on DB, but end up disappointed, because the ride is more focused on speed since it's a giga. But on the other hand, some people who prefer Orion but don't know the difference between the two might want to experience more speed, and faster pacing, and Diamondback doesn't do it the same as "the blue one." NEITHER of them are overly-intense, but the "red one" is MUCH tamer haha.
I agree that they may look similar to those who don't observe the profiling of the two drops, and there's only a 57 foot difference in height, but there's a BIG difference between a 301 foot drop and 215-feet.

@@terrencehill6772 I get what you mean. The tracks of Diamondback and Orion are quite similar visually, This track design seems to be "the rage" at many other parks as well, so I guess they, too, have that in common with the aforementioned two coasters. I also thought the design of the seats on the trains of each were "somewhat" similar but distinguishable. You're not the only one who noticed these similarities; great minds really do think alike!

A front row night ride in the rain on Orion is amazing
I was lucky enough to have a dusk ride in the rain a few weeks ago and that definitely solidified it as my #2 (only behind mystic Timbers at night with rain)

I think I’ll like this than most do, I hear a lot of people hate on it, I think I’ll find it very be one of my favorites.
Probably hate on it because it’s not what they were expecting, but honestly it’s great for what it is. Really nice layout.

Do not underestimate this roller coaster here!! The first drop is the SHOWSTOPPER of this coaster. The drop may not look so bad on video, but reality tells another story!!! I rode that coaster 3 times today and it is hands down the best coaster in kings island!!
I took my 11 yr old son to Kings Island today, we rode all the good stuff. BOTH our first time on Orion, they put us in the front cart. The climb and drop was INSANE!!! He loved it!! His favorite coaster in the whole park

I rode this a week ago. It was my first ever roller coaster and possible my favorite.
It couldn't top Steel Vengence on my list, but it's a definite #2.

I love this Roller Coaster and the name is wanderful so beautiful Orion and in Madrid Spain there is a big great Roller Coaster called TORNADO with two loopings

It’s 287 feet high. 300.1 foot drop. Kings Island should’ve just rounded the lift to 300, it’s not that big of a change and couldve avoided controversy

Ride the Beast right after you ride Orion, and the first climb (on Beast) will frustrate the Hell out of you.

My friend and I went on Orion first, then Flight of Fear and then The Beast. When we finished The Beast, he mentioned how 1 entire minute of the ride was the lift hill lmao

i think the chainpull right before the big drop is more scary than the actual ride. last year this was my first ride of the day and the third ever roller coaster ive ever been on. i remember loving it, but every time i think about going on it i get sick. interesting

I like Orion but I feel it could be a bit longer
Personally I have ridden Orion about 12 times and i can stay neutral....The first drop is GREAT and it keeps some decent speed before it hits that brake run, also it IS NOT a GiGA Coaster, it's just litteraly NOT. I'm not 7 ft tall I'm 6'2 it's just a physical fact💯 Also it's really all and all a boring ride other than that first drop....It looks beautiful at night But I truly believe Cedar Fair and B&M could have done A lot better with this project, somebody dropped the ball

Just went on this 1st time yesterday! Normally I am absolutely terrified of roller coasters but this one I don’t know what was different! I don’t remember doing this but I apparently had my hands in the air when we went down the 1st drop? I was surprised when I saw that in the picture!

They say the first drop isn’t 300 feet so it’s not a giga coaster. Jokes on them the hill drops into a dip giving it the last 10 or so feet it needs. It is indeed a 300 foot drop

i rode the diamond back ,flight of fear, orion banchee twin racers mistic tembers bacically every ride today the orion drop is kinda scary because its a long drop but diamond back drop is quick
Diamondback doesn't compare with the first drop. Millinium Force and Steel Vengence are 2 of the best first drops in Ohio. But, Orion is pretty darn good.

This ride is a little short it’s shortest then one of the shortest hyper coasters Candymonium which is still a long ride at 54.5 seconds and Orion only got 49 seconds
And Orion is also a lot faster and it does have longer track length

B&M didn't live up to their standards for a Giga. Diamondback is arguably a better coaster. They would have been better off with a dive or winged coaster. Or they should have RMC'd the Racer.
This shits on Diamondback. Enthusiasts act so Danm entitled because the thing isn’t 350 foot and 8000 feet of track. Just because it didn’t live up to everyone’s unrealistic expectations means it’s worse than a Danm dive coaster.

The beast mystic timbers and Diamondback are overrated by enthusiasts and this is underrated. It’s the best ride at kings island by far and I wouldn’t even be a season pass holder without it.

A coaster doesn’t need to be as good as SV or Fury 325 to be great. The other coasters at kings island are not that good and mystic timbers and beast are 2 of the most overrated coasters in history
