In my eyes, one of the greatest and most iconic bands Australia has ever had.
I'm a Canadian and an 80s child to and Australia had the best 80s bands my favourites from this era are icehouse, INXS, split enz but darn the models rock I remember this song as a kid and hey you guys rock thanks for giving us some lovely music
Split Enz were a kiwi band…
Misex is another smoking hot 80's kiwi band
@@missq3989 also a kiwi band
@@darrinferguson2125 😃 that's what I said
The 80’s was a more creative time for music. People were more creative then. There was no internet and computers were just basic. You couldn’t get addicted to chats/ forums/ social media/ games. I dunno how many kids these days could make this if they tried!? Kids more exposed to hip hop / whimpy hipster pop. Record industry has changed for the worst! Social engineering towards multi- cult / multi- gendered community
We were so spoiled here in Oz in the 80's...we took it for granted, and many never broke into international markets as their managers ooften never thought they would be successful overseas. Their loss...we rocked at discos every weekend to all this.
Watching some of the American reaction to Aussie music vids common comment is why the hell have I never heard this before 😢
gone are those days
Such a great 80's sound, nothing nowadays compares.
Nothing from the past 40 YEARS compares to that unique 80s sound. World gets shitter and the annals of acceptance of just about anything crap as art is through the floor. Sad, very sad.
Listening in June 2024.
Kate back there having the time of her life. No mistaking that voice !
Those were the days of the brilliant Aussie pub bands. Awesome. Thanks.
All time Aussie classic.. brilliant song! RIP James.

@@garethwest9069 Mate,,,this isn't helping....you can't just spray out bible verses out of context and without proper need....you do more harm for the Way than any good....
Yeh and when the poor buggar died no media coverage it's like Bon Scott
Kate and co looking fabulous.
James Freud and Sean Kelly... both so talented. I had the biggest crush on Sean. Love Zan and Kate in this film clip. This song was massive when it was released. I remember dancing my tush off at a school formal to this.
James Freud would still be singing great songs like this one if he
hadn't passed away at just 51.
RIP James
He didn’t pass away he topped himself
Amazing how many better ones in the music world go before their time, yet all the shit ones never go.
One of the best songs ever recorded defining the Rock and Roll Music
Proud to have loaded in and out the Band's gear. Another great Aussie Pub Punk Rock band ahead of time . Gary Numan tour 😉 James wass proud to have been Mr Numans Host when he played support on the tour ( he tells the story hostingRage)🤘✌️🇦🇺
Great song, great album!!! Had the cassette tape of this album back in the day. Played it so much I wore it out and had to buy another. Great Aussie band from the '80's! This album and anything INXS were my go to driving music back then.
Graduated High School in '84... Was "legal" (21yrs old in the States) in '87 and the club scene was crazy back then as was any college bar with a dance floor.
Love the backup singers in this video and "Cold Fever"... Miss the days of fit looking ladies, in form fitting skirts, black hose and heels.
Man I wish I could go back... To be young in the '80's was a great time!
The uniqueness and syncopations of the open and closed high hats in the intro are truly unique, as is starting the song on a flam. No one does that. Superb, clean drumming and an awesome song. Bloody good job all round.
Sorry, this comment is too intelligent, informative and interesting for RUclips. I have reported you for raising the tone.
TOTALLY, TOTALLY UNDERRATED POP song from 1980's band (The) *Models*. Thank you guys for the awesome *Models* music and James for his work with *Teenage Radio Stars*. Great memories! RIP James Freud 🙏
The Models 'discover' rock! \m/
Well said. James Freud was an awesome talent. His music provided such a significant part of the soundtrack to my youth. Sadly missed

@@garethwest9069 Oh fuck me! Talk about OFF topic!
Absolutely Brilliant. RIP James.
Kate cebrano providing some awesome backing vocals 👌
An all time favourite. Everyone is in Sync with each other. Awesome. RIP James.
One of my favourite Aussie rock songs of 1985, next to Hoodoo Gurus "Bittersweet" and Mental As Anything's "Live It Up". The energy in this song is fantastic. Also like Absent Friends and sax player James Valentine's parody band Absent Frenzy which he did a one-off song for in 1990 called "I Should've Said No When I Said Yes" about cigarette smoking.
I'd add Hoodoo Gurus "Miss Freelove" and "I Want You Back."
Why this song didn't go to number one on the billboard chart is beyond me!
Because America doesn't know a great song when they hear it!! 🤘😈😇🤘
I’ve been searching for this song for years, only out of sheer stupidity did I find this wonderful song
Aren't you so glad you found it again??
RIP James Great Australian talent
Oh, didn’t know he was gone. Didn’t get the recognition Chrissy got.
@@matthewsmith1547 WTF? He did him self in years ago! Was ALL over the news! COULDN'T get off the bottle!
The best song you ever DID!!!! dam song got me speeding ticket!
Oh gosh it feels like the 80's 🎶🎧
I”m from Brisbane (for better or worse) and I am a lifelong fan of The (original) Saints with Ed on guitar. It was a very repressive time but artists were fighting back. Artists like The Saints. This is like a time machine. A kickass one.
So glad I saw them live at Australian Made in 87.Kate Cebrano and her sister were backing vocals and had a group called I'm Talking.Great band.
Zan isn't her sister but Zan HAS a sister. Wendy Matthews and 2 other girls backed at the concert (I saw it in Sydney, awesome show!).
Super concert ..awesome Day out
@@1lighthorse Zan's sister is Shereen from Big Pig another hugely underrated aussie band.
Wendy Matthews was their long time backing singer while dating Sean Kelly
I am so jealous
I remember this song from 1986 I was 20 years old & I watched this video on MTV it was such a a catchy tune but I never could remember the name of the band but the melody is solid🎉
Brilliant. RIP James.
80s the best years!
From Australia I think we made some of the best rock songs
I remember seeing them at a nightclub in Hamilton NZ,looked exactly like this clip, they were great!
Superb
One of my best ever faves! RIP James Freud :(
love this song ❤❤
The woman in this video dancing and singing wearing a hat and a leather jacket reminds me of the famous gymnast, Alicia Sacramone !! I'm referring to the backup singer on the left, because there are two backup singers in this video. They're both gorgeous, but I like the one on the left. Because Alicia is gorgeous and so is the woman I just got through talking about. Also, this band plays good music and I have seen some of their other videos that they have done. They're an awesome band. Sorry that James Freud has passed on and is no longer with us. But listening to good music like this and watching good music videos like this really makes me want to go back to the eighties. Remember, this video was done back in 1985. But good music lasts forever, no matter how long ago it was. Same thing applies to this band and this video. The Models rule forever !! What a butt kicking band !! Living proof that bands like The Models will never die and Rock and Roll will never die !! 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The woman on the left is Kate Ceberano
@@v8sainter was just trying to workout which was Kate. cheers.
@@v8sainter When I hear this song I always thought I could recognize the voice of one of those back up singers. Kate Cebrano it is.
Great stuff! Peaked as high as No. 37 on the USA Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1986.
The Australasian invasion 🤠. Some bands like Men at Work would go Billboard #1 or at least top 10, while others like Models, Real Life, The Church, Wa Wa Nee would slip into the top 30 or top 40, but with a song that was a little different from standard pop radio in the US. One Aussie song that I was surprised to see even make Billboard top 100 was "Solid Rock" by Goanna, 1982, made #71. Surprised because it had a kind of Australian outback feel to it and Shane Howard had a kind of Aussie stadium rock voice, I wasn't sure that the US would take much interest in the song, but I think there was something about the big, anthemic sound, especially the chorus, which got it over in the States.
Out of mind, out of sight was a name of tv documentary on the ABC in the '80s about the state of Australian prisons.
Some prisons still had buckets to go to the toilet in.
Least they had toilet paper unlike today
I was looking through my vinyl collection recently and came acrossed this 💎 from 1986. Very catchy ☺
Well done. Fantastic memories. Thanx guys.
Our friend, James sister who is in this video passed away only months ago. We were Ansett hosties and she missed her brother James so much and always spoke of him with so much love! They now rock on together!🥰🥰🥰
This is how i would described this song as *Out of Mind out of Sight*
Awesome band...awesome song !
still love this song at 56 as much as I did at 18 in the bars of Ohio 🙂
This is my first introduction to Models. The singer sounds a bit like Michael from INXS, but that's not a bad thing. This sound has a cool groove. I love the little Australian rock movement that happened in the mid-80s...all those bands have such a unique sound. The Angels and "Underground" comes to mind, along with Jimmy Barnes.
The song title popped into my mind out of nowhere--this was one I used to cover back in the day and it was aways a blast to do! Uh huh-it's as good as I remember it! Yeah, he does sound like Hutchence at times, not a bad thing indeed! Jimmy Barnes, oh yeah-he was one helluva singer, love his "Freight Train Heart" album. And that cameo he did with INXS "Good Time" kicked ass! Some great Aussie bands, that 80's period WAS something. Men at Work as well. RIP James
Hoodoo Gurus
little? i guess you werent there. f*k barnsey(he was just part of the generic bogan shit). there was TON of bands around back then
I miss the time when Australian music was distinct from that of other countries.
Australia still has good music and good bands, the music that is made in Europe is shit, far from the music that was made in the 70s, 80s and 90s of the last century, or is it electronic music "something that can hardly be called music " or is it something between Rammstein or Muse , a shit sound , the last band that appeared around these parts are the Arctic Monkeys , and it's been a few years now it's just been shit impossible to hear :)
It still does, Australia always has the best bands generally
I'm saying this and I'm not even aussie
@@pauloramada4844 Arctic Flunkies are as lousy as anything the last 4 decades have produced.
Sweeties, we miss that time when ALL music from ANYWHERE was distinct. Those times have gone forever.

Models were so good. Only just found out on here that James has passed. What is wrong with this country. Or me that i didnt know.
Mark Opitz produced a great hit! Legend Aussie producer...
Takes me back to my Adelaide days in 85. A Grade Aussie pub band. RIP James. We all loved ya, mate.
Can remember '86 being in Adelaide and seeing Wall of Voodoo live in some pub in Light Square.
man i loved this song when it came out in the 80s ,some great groups from Aussie ,hi from kiwi land
Saw this band live back in the day. The 12 inch version on tape was mind blowing .
The best thing about this video are the 2 babes dancing, hot!
Great song too!
Brilliant. I’m sure they visited my blue light disco.
I had forgotten all about this song!!
this should have 1 million likes.
Remember dancing to this at the Court Jester Night Club in Brisbane 1985.
old alto sax player, i loved being in a brass section and doing synch stuff
Oh, yeah!!!
Awesome song!
A true officisho - nardo of the guitar and pitch perfect voice ,
For a man that presumably was pretty sick at that stage of his career
A amazing , timeless performance of a great song …
Good old classic Aussie rock
Fucking A!!!!
This song - so good - remember seeing them in Adelaide with Wendy Mathews doing back up vocals - I know that Kate gets the raps for the back ups but Wendy - always a true talent..where is she now? Hopefully still making music!
Sean Kelly aka Mr Mumbles, the only singer who could make unintelligible waffle into Hit music.
think of james all the time...
Out of mind out of sight even....
I see saxophones but hear synths. Ah, the 1980s.
The best!
Took me over 30 years to realise this song wasn’t INXS
Saw them smash this out mid 80s in the theatre in Albury, double bill with the Uncanny Xmen iirc
The clip of "Hold on" brought me here................... one of their songs wasn't enough.
So electric - AND Kate Ceberano..................... awesome.
Late 80's was in and out of Sydney, so would routinely see these guys in a venue somewhere.
The models are playing at the Bannockburn railway hotel in Bannockburn Victoria Australia in November 2023.
Announced today.
Tickets available soon via the venue.
Saw the Hoodoo Gurus in my hometown Upper Hutt, New Zealand early this year at the Hutt Sounds supergig, Brewtown, semi-outdoors, five bands split 3.5-1.5 Kiwi-Aussie (the half and half band was Mi-Sex led by Steve Balbi what with most of the original guys dead or moved on). Was hoping to see more Aussies at next year's Hutt Sounds, but they've kinda set their sights on the UK, getting Human League, Nik Kershaw and Go West. Choirboys are joining them and the Mockers. I mentioned the gig to Dave Sterry of Real Life over FB who said it's been ages since he played in NZ and he'd like to come back. Would love to see bands like Models, Icehouse, Big Pig, Midnight Oil and others play at a future Hutt Sounds supergig. 👍
It's a pity there is no contact information for this channel. I remaster videos and have just completed a 4K version of this video that is on a entirely different level in sound and vision. Given that this video is blocked in almost every country when I posted it, I would be happy to supply it to this channel free of charge.
Gold !
Best enjoyed LOUD.
Great song ❤
💞 BELLISSIMA 💞
Big props for the Herbie Hancock tee on the synth player.

This is an awesome Rock Anthem.
Zebra stripes? Check. Popped collars? Check. Horns? Check. A bunch of Australians? Check. Denim vest? Check. Guy with a pony tail? Check. Keyboard? Check. Mullet? Check. An entire industrial drum of coke just off camera? Double check. Okay, that's settles it. This is the most 80s thing on mother earth.
